Its interesting altogether no matter Star Wars or anything else. This is the exit from the Backlot...so will they redirect traffic through the area?

This is very interesting especially because most of the rumored plans for star wars exist in Echo Lake not the backlot.

This is a really small area, though, isn't it?

Can't imagine with just this closing and not LMA and Backlot Tour, that anything of substance will materialize in this space.

Or does it include the entire warehouse behind the seating of the Water/Battle opening scene of the Backlot Tour?

I'm not exactly sure what this all includes. I do know it included the gift shop and movie props exhibit.

Someone on wdwmagic.com mentioned that space could be perfectly used for a meet and greet. Disney has announced that Big Hero 6 characters are coming in the fall so we could very well see them go here.

There's no tie to this one exhibit/area and Star Wars...

It would be better suited to a new Pixar type space.

If there is "star wars" tie in...then god help us...

Any Star Wars project at studios better involve massive amounts of heavy equipment and earth moving...if you ask me.

Also...did everyone gloss over the rumor that was floated that Star Wars tie ins are favored in the MAGIC KINGDOM Tomorrowland over studios?

They don't have a choice in Anaheim...but based on recent philosophy I'm not sure they wouldn't rather the Star Wars presence in the MK as well.

Based on what I have been hearing Disney is going to be getting rid of toontown in Disneyland and adding a star wars presence there. Disney World will be getting the largest of all Star Wars expansions and it will be in DHS, most of the rumors fall in and around Echo Lake not the Back lot. I agree this would be a better place for Pixar than Star Wars.

So a reliable source on WDWMAGIC (Marni71) has confirmed that the lasers used in Illuminations: Reflections of Earth will be updated by the end of the year. He also said many more upgrades are planned for the show over the next coming months. Some of the upgrades most likely making their way into the show are the mapping tech used in Celebrate the Magic, Once Upon A Time, and Dreams!.

They have shown reluctance to make studios a full sized park since its original inception...if there wasnt enough reason when the studio shut down...I'm not sure there ever would be...

Star Wars in a massive expansion would cross that threshold permanently... It's the rubicon and there's no going back.

But I agree...it's a perfect match. You build the Star Wars land in studios and in almost one swipe undo alot of the ground made up at universal Orlando...
And then you use that as a slam dunk expansion at studios Paris and Hong Kong...injecting the worlds biggest adventure franchise into parks that continually need more draw and influx of cash.
A future third site or expansion in Anaheim (if the easy toontown plan is shelved) and shanghai also would be a great fit.

It's like the forbidden fruit is sitting on the table...
But so far the Disney Board has gone to the cafeteria for the Bare Necessities Wedge Salad instead.

Article on the paint the night parade coming to Hong Kong this fall. This is also rumored to be similar to the parade coming to Disneyland for their 60th celebrations. http://www.mouseinfo.com/forums/content/3458-more-details-about-disney-paint-night-interactive-parade-plus-halloween-holiday-announcements.html

Wow - that looks really cool! And I bet there will be enough people in the parade route to get the effect of the mitt/bows that 'glow with the show ears' intended (but rarely has the volume to meet).

American idol experience last performances will be held on august 31st and will not continue after that date.

I read that Big Hero 6 are replacing Wreck it Ralph and Vanellope in the Animation building.

Paint the Night looks really cool. Really hope it makes its way into the US, or at least a modified version to keep PTN a Hong Kong exclusive.

An eagle-eyed reader spotted a huge assortment of height-check balloons flying in the sky near the back entrance to Fort Wilderness between Golden Oaks and the campground. Is Disney looking into building another new huge resort in this area? Given how close this would be to the ultra-expensive Golden Oaks homes, making sure it isn’t too tall would be a concern I’d expect.

Irresponsible rumor mill again....

Now based on every actual move for the last 10 years... Why?....dear god why?... Would they build a "new, huge resort" in that area?

There at about 80% occupancy (much higher around 2000...I can verify as a fact)...

So seriously...can't bloggers switch the common sense filter on every now and then?

Here here...

I can only hope for another "immersive show" to take its place...like "Fox News: YOU make it up!"
