The rock wall or whatever you want to call it around the beaches has started going in at Yacht and Beach.

8-):D
I'll be calling today. I was thinking about calling yesterday, but didn't know if that would be an effective way of telling them just how disappointed I am that they will not have a nighttime parade. Thanks for the advice! :)
Email the VP of MK, and Pres. Of WDW too. That will help get your point across.
Let me know if y'all need their direct emails. .:D8-)

Called yesterday and basically got the "there are no plans to replace it that we know of right now. As we get closer to November, keep an eye out for announcements." More or less, they just gave me a generic response. Haha. What are the emails I can send my disappointment to? :P

New Beauty and the Beast sneak peek

Not a ton new, though we do get a clip of Emma Watson and Dan Stevens reading a couple lines.

Look around the room at the Table Read. You can see on the small table in the center several other characters. Looks like Cogsworth, the duster, Mrs Potts and Chip, and either Lumiere or a coat rack? And in the background you can see renders of Mrs Potts and Chip along with Cogsworth and Lumiere again - as well as what looks like a female in a glowing dress.

I find the B&tB film idea amusing. People here are constantly saying how they can't wait for it, yet it is more than likely nearly a scene for scene remake of a movie that already exists - and is in fact a great movie in and of itself.

Just saying how we play into the environment now that leads to driving Disney (and others) towards the idea that nothing original is ever created. A amazing movie like Kubo and the Two Strings tanks at the box office, but people will be lined up around the block to see a movie they've all already scene - albeit in an animated version. I'm not being critical per se as I will likely also be in line to see it, but it just makes it hard then sit here and complain "Why does everything in the parks need to be from existing IP?"

Totally agree. Money talks. People are more willing to throw money at things they are used to. Some people go on vacation to different places, try different foods, etc. Other people travel to the same place, go to the same restaurant, and order the same plates.

Hollywood (since we're talking about movies) isn't in the business of losing money. If you had to put up $100 million, would you bank on some totally original idea for a return, or would you rather back Friday the 13th XIII?

Throwing $50 million at a new Friday the 13th movie is a lot safer than throwing $30 million dollars on a non-existent IP film.

It's sad, you'd think studios would want to try and create as many franchises as possible. More original (in the sense of IP) movies could potentially leave you with more franchises.

But dem's the rules.

That is true. I think up to this point most if not all of the live action remakes have been at least somewhat different. This might be the first that is almost completely the same. I am also okay with that though. Beauty and the beast is one of the best disney films of all time.

Kubo doesn't interest me at all. The animation looks good but it just doesn't appeal to me.

The reptilian part of my brain, which is somewhat disposed to conspiracy theories, wonders whether Iger is deliberately pumping the well dry. Disney is seemingly striving to exhaust all earning potential from its movie franchise IP within just a few years, leaving very little new franchises in place. Of the few new IP successes Disney has bought to market recently, Frozen at the very least seems to be something of an unplanned success.

Whoever takes Iger's place is going to have their work cut out for them keeping Disney's movie machine printing cash as efficiently as it is right now.
