Hi there, I'm considering joining DVC through a resale, probably with low points just to get started. Sadly, however, I will never be able to convince my husband unless there is ample opportunity to stay at non-WDW properties as well.
I've searched around some and am confused/not able to find info regarding hotels around the U.S. and rest of the world (e.g., Italy as mentioned on another thread) where DVC points might be applied.
Can anyone steer me in the right direction? TIA :bitelip:

if your contract is less than 160 points - I would stick to WDW and the off site DVC resort - HH and VB.

staying offsite unless they are also DVC resort is very expensive - you need quite a few points to do this.

Ok thank you. I just got off the phone with the DVC people and they say that all of the participating hotels and necessary point levels will be included in the packet. We'll see whether I can get the other half on board here.

A small contract will not get you too far if you want to stay at an off site hotel. Be advise that the point cost of staying in hotels is very high. I believe that most of the hotels charge aroung 50 - 75 points a night. While this is okay for the occasional jaunt to a new place, if this is your main reason for joining DVC, you are best off not doing it.

I prefer the 8 - 15 points a night for studio.

Oh thanks for that website, that is really helpful.

I wouldn't say I would buy DVC *for* the trades, but there is no way he would go for it to stay at WDW. He doesn't really like Orlando.... not like the kids and I do :earseek:
