New Wishes FP Area

While the new areas look fantastic for viewing, no way would I lock myself out of getting additional FPs by booking Wishes in my initial 3.

We book only evening or late afternoon FP+'s so we really aren't limiting ourselves. We'll do the Wishes fp+ on a day that the MK is our evening park.

But it does tie up additional fp+ for those who don't do it that way.

Just snagged a wishes FP+ for our evening at MK in late March. All our FP are booked for the evening - so this FP fits in well with our plans. Last time I stood in the area in front of the castle, it was PACKED and leaving after the fireworks was CRAZY - so many people, strollers, ECVs. I'd like to get a nice, relaxing view of the fireworks for one night. I'm anxious to hear some first hand reports on how the view is from the FP area. Anyone going soon?? Please report back on your experience! Thanks!

Did you read the link I posted in post #4?

I like the FP+ option for this. Not a fan of crowds, so having a dedicated area works for me. So long as we aren't cramped like sardines. :-)

I don't see it as being locked out of anything by "wasting" one of my 3 FP+'s on this.

We have them for the 16th and I was glad to get them. As far as the crowds, (and a little off-topic), a couple of trips back my DW and her sister decided to go back to the hotel as we had seen it earlier in the stay. While they were walking towards the Train Station, DW said that at one point she almost began a little frightened by the press of the people and pushing that was going on. Hard to imagine really being scared in Disney, but she was. Hopefully the expanded Hub will help with this.

Our first visit to WDW was in 2010, and the ONLY time I felt unsafe for our family was after Wishes. It is such wall to wall people down main street that it is very easy to imagine a trampling event happening if something caused that mass of people to try and run out of MK. Also very easy to see us getting separated. (and sorry to that women or two that stepped in front of our stroller and got their heals clipped) Kind of a combination of 1) I'm not stopping 2) watch where you're going 3) hard to avoid it with the crowds

Plus, it just felt so UN-Disney. I remember trying to walk down Main Street, hands held tight to our little ones thinking "this is not safe, or fun, in any way."

You are locked out of being able to get any more than three FP+ for the entire day if you book a FP+ for as late as Wishes.
Because you are not allowed to book any other FP+ until you have used the last of the original three FP+.

Since Wishes is very near the end of the MK day, you can't book any more FP+ all day and into the night.

So, that means that instead if being able to book 4, 5, 6, FP+ per day,
you will only be allowed to use TWO other FP+ at MK that entire day,
as you await the time for your 3rd FP+ for Wishes.

That's more important than whether it's considered "wasting" a FP, or not.

If that's not important to you, that's OK.
But, it can be very important on a busy day for many guests.

I hope it does improve the process. i remember a few years back sitting in the hub with a fantastic view. I sat for like a half hour after the show to wait til the crowd died done. No way was I going to become part of the masses. Too many people!!

We were able to get FP for Wishes before they opened the new FP location, the ones we have say Main Street Plaza Gardens viewing area. Does that mean we'll be in the old not so great location?

I meant that I don't feel left out. Clearly if they found fourth fast pass is important to someone, then they would be. But since *I* have little use for them then I'm not locked out of anything.

Using a FP+ for Wishes is a tough call. I love the viewing location, and that it's reserved. Not having the ability to book a 4th or more FP+ is pretty nasty though.

I could see this coming in handy on a day that we visit a water park first, and get to MK later though. ...or if someone want to do MK on their arrival day.

I just got a Wishes FP for our trip in April. How do we know which side to go to? The East or West?

If the FP+ does not direct you,
just show up to either side and the CMs will tell you if you need to go the "other" side.

And, to be on the safe side, I'd get there earlier rather than later.
Like just about everything at WDW, it will be better to arrive far too early than to arrive just a minute too late.

I was initially against using a FP+ on Wishes, but with the new areas I think we may have to do it. We're going to be at MK for two days, one of them being a "low" crowd day (whatever that means these days) and the other a higher crowd day--yes we're committing the cardinal sin of going to MK on a EMH day.

Anyway, what would you guys recommend...do Wishes FP on the low crowd day (counting on lower lines and therefore lower need for extra FP's) or do it on the higher crowd day with the thought that there probably won't be a lot of additional FP's to be had that day anyway?

We had 8 FPs at MK on a high crowd Saturday last year, and that was with next to no effort. No lines at kiosks, in the system and out each time in under a minute. It just depends on what you deem worth it to you.

Same for us. So while I may not be able to get additional sdpf's that one day I choose to get a Wishes fp+, it's ok because I don't need them that day. Apparently people don't mind giving up the option because up until now, a Wishes FP was harder to get than A&E...which just shows how miserable it is to fight that crowd!

It will be interesting to see just how much availability there is with the new viewing areas. As I said earlier, there was availability for 5 as early as next Monday.

No, that's the new location.

Below is a "work-in-progress" of my overview of the new Hub.
Some of the "outer" sidewalks shown have not been built yet.
Some of the unfinished areas have since been finished.
Again, a work-in-progress, all the way around.
