NEW Wilderness Lodge FAQ!!

Sorry, this is a term to refer to the face of the resort as you are looking at it from the pool/beach area. the inner courtyard portion of the lodge is shaped like a U the bear's face would be the bottom of the U. when I was doing my research alot of posters recommended this area and one sent me pictures which actually showed it - really does look like a bears face! When you are putting in a room request I believe that I was told that "bear's face" isn't something that is always recognized, and it is better to say inner courtyard. Our particular room number was 5067 and I think it sounds to be what you are looking for. We had a great view of the pool, gieser and lake. It was wonderful to watch the electric water pageant at night and the sun on the water in the day. As soon as you walked out our door you could look down over the lobby. I spent a lot of time doing this - the wl is breathtaking, I want to move there - do you think it would cost alot to rent it on a monthly basis ;) If you need any more info on this area let me know, I'll try to help.

Dreaming -- I noticed you were in room 5067, which was mentioned in these posts as one of 4 rooms on the 5th (smoking) floor that was not smoking. Just wondering if you smelled smoke in the hall or your room. Thanks!

Just booked four nights in December for a Woods View room in the Wilderness Lodge. I have been dreaming about staying there and I am counting down the days!

I have been making my way through this thread, but 90+ pages takes a LONG time to read.

So I was hoping someone could help. DH and I will be in a Smoking room, which I think is on the 5th floor. Do all the rooms have the same view or do some have better views than others, and if so which ones.

This is our 2nd anniversary trip, we honeymooned to WDW 2 years ago! I can't wait!

Thanks!

I have been posting on this thread for a while (welcome back 999) and this really doesnt have anything to do with the WL. I booked airfare last monday.... I was expecting to pay $325 for 2 round trip tickets form New Orleans to Orlando. When I logged on to southwest.com i was suprised to find that they had a special for NO to Orlando for $42 each way for each person and that with taxes and ect was $200 for the whole thing .. .a savings for $125... YAAAAHHHHHOOOOOOO I just had to tell someone

Good Morning everyone.

Bumping up to the front page.

Hope everyone has a Magical Day.

999ghts - does Ruben still work at Territory Lounge?

:D

So happy for you. I think you will love WL. We did.

We had room 5151 - smoking optional room - with a view of pool, waterfall and lagoon. We saw the water pageant from the balcony, could check on the kids at the pool, or just enjoy the peace and beauty of the pines.

You can also see the entrance to Roaring Forks, convenient when DS went down to pick up breakfast and I could keep an eye out!

You can hear the waterfalls and also kind of see the geyser from the balcony. Lots of folks are unimpressed with the geyser - I'm one of those people who thought it was cool.

Can I hop into your suitcase?

He He He Melomouse! I don't think that there is enough room with all of the clothes I pack. And I know that there isn't any room in DH's suitcase, his will be packed full of patches and T-shirts from his rescue and fire company. He loves to trade that stuff! He has been saving stuff for the past 3 months now!

Do you think you could crawl into a back pack? And carry yourself? If so, sure, come along!

No do you know if that room was a woodsview room or a courtyard room? And any idea how I go about requesting that particular room....it sounds exactly like what I was looking for!

thanks for the wonderful info......now I am even more excited!

....And to all of you who have generously taken time to share your experience and knowledge. It can only be because you desire that everyone have their most meaningful stay! And there's joy in that! We're certainly looking forward to our stay in the Lodge, wherever our room will be! Just a few more weeks! Cherie

Mz -

You also need to save room for the souvenirs and new patches DH hubby gets, right?!

I think that that room might have been a courtyard view. You can ask for a view, certainly the smoking factor puts you on the 5th floor.

I just faxed a general kind of request and asked nicely for whatever they could possibly do.....

Pixiedust was on me, I guess!

Going in December, are you? Let me know how the pool is then??!!!!!

I dont think Ive seen this question on this thread yet- I know there is a health club (Sturdy Branches?) on site, but can regular guests use it or is it just for DVC members? Are there both cardio equipment and resistance equipment? (are, is? whatever lol).
I just joined a health club and since I will be at WL for 2 weeks (yippee!) I was hoping that I could get a small workout in every other day or so so I dont go completely backwards.
Thanks!

We're doing some last-minute packing and the question came up about ironing some clothing while at WL.

Can we get a clothes iron and ironing board from Housekeeping to use in our room?

Thanks. Kathy >>

Retlaw, If I remember correctly, there is an iron and an ironing board in the closet.

Hi all! :D

Ya - WE are getting close! I can't wait! Tee only thing is...

We reserved a standard room with our only requests being adjoining rooms and one room with bunks. These requests were made through TA and will be faxed down again by TA 2 days before we arrive.

Now I am nervous about getting a god awful view of the trash or something. We are closing on a house one week after we get back so I hate to ask DH to upgrade.

Can anyone who has had ajoining standard rooms please calm my fears! I keep telling myself that I will just be so happy to be at WL (even if they put me in the WORST room)!

thanks in advance
;)

This tip may help you get a decent standard room view at the Lodge.

Ask to be put on the SOUTH side of the resort, near the Villa's.

The ugliest views, IMO, are on the north side. Part of that area faces a parking lot and garbage dumpsters.

The views on the south side can't be near as bad since they face the Villas. Also, if you ask for a smoking room, they are available only on the south side and don't have terrible views.

...yes, there is an iron and board in the room. It is located in the closet! (If your is missing, just call mousekeeping and they will be more than happy to get one for you!):)

So I don't have to read the whole thing again, does anyone remember what room number over otter pond on the south side are the one's that quite possibly have a view of MK or Water parade?? I read this whole post 3 months ago & took note. Well, now I can't find my notes & have to fax in my request in 2 days!! I'm getting stressed!!

Also, is the WL going to be mobbed due to the fact that some of the people who were upgraded from CBR to WL because of the big referb.??
Thanks in advance all you WL gods;) !

Can someone repost the location of the standard rooms? I know I've seen it before but I can't seem to find it at the moment. Thanks for your help:D

Does anyone know what happend to all of 999ghsts posts? I was searching the thread for some room locations and couldn't find a single post by 999ghsts.

It is my understanding JohnDavid that the moderators have deleted 999Ghsts from the boards to protect their identity as there have been some other CM's at WL that were trying to invade on 999Ghsts requests to be private. Is that right Kimmar067 (I figure they would let you know what was going on???) Sad really as 999 was such a help to us all.
