Hi All...As a cast member from Wilderness Lodge, and a new vistor to this site, I was hoping to help make Magical Memories for our current and future guests..I have posted here on occassion and I hope this past week I have made a difference in a few regular subscribers of this forum...If you have read my prior post apologizing for intruding on 999ghost territory, I truely am sorry and did not mean to do so...As posted by others..no one was trying to "invade his space"...But I can tell you, I will keep reading the posts but will not be responding accordingly...I thought I could make a difference in addition to 999ghosts...I guess with the feedback, I was wrong....I'm sorry.....

Askmickey-

I don't think this board - or thread is suppose to be anybodys "space".

I for one accept the apology because I know that behind this screen are all humans who make errors. I am also sure that you are sincerely sorry for your HUMAN error and learned a very important lesson through all of this.

I believe that you as well as 999ghst are wonderful resourses and you should not stop posting because 999ghst is here! THe name of the thread is WL and you are obviously an important part of WL! ;)

Patty

Just a note -

Thanks 999ghst and Kimmar-
I called TA (again - they must be sick of hearing from me) and confirmed that we have a reservation in for CONNECTING rooms with a bunk bed in one room! So this should put us in South !

THis is good - especially since we have NO HOPE of upgrading as DH got laid off yesturday:( What bad timing they had!

We are suppose to be closing on a new house when we get back from Disney too - now who knows! AUGH!

Hopefully we will still be able to enjoy our vacation without worrting too much!

Anyways - THanks again 999 and Kimmar for all your help!

askmickey...

I don't post a lot on these boards, but I think I'll put my 2 cents in anyway!:D I didn't even realize you were a WL cm until your last post, shows what I know! I hope you re-think not posting here. If you have the impression you're not appreciated or wanted around here it certainly isn't true, at least not on my part and many others I'm sure. Of course this is pure selfishness on my part, I'm just beginning to pin down the fine details on our trip and I know I'll have lots of questions. Perhaps if you don't want to publicly post, you wouldn't mind an occasional question or 2 by pm? :)

askmickey...

I think that we all welcome anyone's input that can help us with our questions. From anyone who has worked at the WL, or works there now to someone who has stayed at the WL before.
.
All of us are excited about staying at this beautiful resort. Please feel free to help us a much as you can. I know I am looking forward to our stay in December, the pictures of the lobby decorated for Christmas really is the icing on the cake.

We have a courtyard view and I really would like a room that will over look the main pool but also the stream up above it, and would like to be convenient to roaring forks. I hope I am not asking for too much!

Good Morning, Bumping up to the first page.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I've been dreaming of WL all the time.

The first day we are there, will be arrivng around noon, we'll have lunch at Whispering Canyon.

Ooooooohhhh planning already!!!!!

Hi Everyone -

My trip too is getting closer (Dec. 10-18). We will be 3, myself, DH and DD (4). My questions are -

1. I am booked in a standard room. Can you see Fireworks or the water parade from any standard room? If so, I'd like to request it via fax 3 days prior.

2. I am flying down, should I rent a car?????

You guys have been so helpful!!!!

THANKS!!!!! :Pinkbounc

My opinion (which some will find useless)

It is my understanding that you could get a room that MIGHT view the fireworks (Depending on the trees - leaves) but it is over the service area with all the garbage and loud trucks. I think it will depend on when you are going - if they only have the fireworks once a week you probably won't want to see them from your room anyways. I'm sure someone else will elaborate more on this.

As for the car I think it depends on your itineraryyour pateince and your budget! If you are planning to go to things off Disney properts (IE Seaworld, Discovery Cove, Restraunts) then definately. If you can't deal with waiting for buses and crowded buses, then definately. I have heard that the transportation within Disney is excellent and there is no need. However consider this - you can rent a small car at about the same price as some of the shuttle services and have it at your disposal for the week if you shoudl decide you need it! I don't know from experince but I have her not to use Mears shuttle though. Check the Transportation Board for more info and opinions - you'll find plenty!
Hope this helps

ditto on pattyt's suggestions. We planned for a day at Daytona Beach and a day at IOA, so we rented a minivan (for 2 days)with Dollar, located at the Marriott at DTD. Unless you are on an upper floor, you MAY get to view the fireworks. However, you probably won't be able to see the water pageant. You could easily stand near the geyser, though, and see it from there!

PS ~ LoveMickey, ask for Jeffro when you dine at WCC!!! He is a hoot!

nJphy,

We rented a car on our first 4 trips to WDW. We stayed at CB and POR (Dixie then). We found it very handy to drive to the market to stock up on goodies and go to Sea World and other off site parks.

The last time we rented a car was our first visit to WL. Well we were not planning on anything off site but still wanted the convenience of the car. Well it stayed in the parking lot for the entire week. We only went to the car once, and that was because we forgot to take something with us.

If you have reservations at some of the restraunts at other resorts, you may want to rent a car. Otherwise it is not needed.

Kimmar: Jeffro huh. Can't wait. Do you know if Ruben still works at Territory Lounge. I've asked a couple of times, but no responses. Maybe he moved on.

We had some great lunches at Roaring Forks last April/May too. It's lunch time and I'm hungry.

How about a skillet dinner?

:)

Thanks everyone! I am not planning on going to any off site attractions, I just wanted the convenience of having a car. I went ahead and booked it - I got a full sz for the entire 8 days for $225 so I am happy about that. We are having dinner the first night we arrive at the Grand Floridian so my DD can see her favorite characters - Pooh & Co. She will be so excited, I haven't told her a thing about it. I think I may like to drive over there.

I guess I will request a 5th floor MK side room. Does anyone have the fax number on hand (I too had written some of this info down before and I cannot locate it and I think it was from 999 posts that are now gone) What day should I fax it in with a Tuesday arrival??

Thanks again to eveyone for the great info!!!!!! :Pinkbounc

NJPhyl -
I have heard that the resort gets your reservation 5 days before you arrive, so it's best to send your requests (in care of "Room Assigner") 4 days before. If you are arriving on a Tuesday then I would probaby fax on Friday or Saturday. Here is the number I have: 407-824-3232.

Have a great time!!!!

Hey -

Does anyone know if you are allowed to use the transportation to MK (boat) before you are actually checked into WL? We will be arriving at WL around 7 am to leave our bags but I know we won't be able to check in yet.

Thanks for the info!!

Dawn

No one will check and you do have a reservation starting that day.

Good Morning all,

Yes you can use the boats and bus transportation. The front gate will ask for your reservation when you do arrive and you may register at the desk then. Your room probably will not be ready, but hey you never know.

Go out to the pool area of the resort and you'll see the walk way to the boat dock.

Can't wait to get back home. :D

Our plane landed back home in New Orleans last night... Our vacation is over. Isn't that the saddest thing - leaving the park? We'll be back though.

Well, thanks to "AskMickey", we got a wonderful Villa room (1 bedroom). I can not say enough about him/her - nicest person to talk to & more than helpful. This was the first time that we had ever stayed at the WL or the VWL, so this was a real treat for us; we had gone to Whispering Canyons in the past & were familar with the lobby, but never a room.

We used our refillable mugs numerous times on our way out the back door to catch the "green flagged" boat to Magic Kingdom. My husband and son swam in the pool while the baby and I sat at the pool table and got a fabulous view of the water parade and the fireworks. It was just perfect.

Kimmar - Jethro was our waitor at Whispering Canyon and he is a good guy. Be sure to ask about his 8 month old son; he was saying he weighs 25 lbs and the doctors were worried about him being too small! My husband ordered the all-you-can-eat thing and so did I, but I should have ordered al la carte... Way too much food there for me! We were going to eat at the "Artist Point", but after getting seated and looking at the menu of about 6 different entrees', I found nothing that sounded good and each plate was $30 each. So, we went back to Whispering Canyon again.

The Crystal Palace is closed until December, the Lion King ride is closed (will re-open to some kind of Mickey Orchestra theme ride/show), The TimeKeeper and Carousel of Progress are also closed right now.

We had a great time... Our 2 1/2 year old and 7 month old were very good the whole trip; We did have to leave a little early yesterday b/c the oldest had a fever when he woke up, but other than that - perfect.

If anyone has any questions about anything (except for Animal Kingdom b/c we didn't go there this trip), please feel free to ask!

Mimi

....sounds like you had an AWESOME time!! The funniest thing I remember about Jeffro was the story that he told us: Disney is making another movie based upon the attraction "Pirates of the Carribbean", but kids won't be able to see it because it's rated (in a pirate-voice) "AARRRH!" (-LOL-)
BTW ~ yes, you will be able to use the transportation before you actually check in...think about it, if you were staying off-site and you had ressies for WCC and you were at MK for the day, how would you get to WL???!?!?! (of course, without using a car:rolleyes: )

Hi! I have a courtyard view room booked for Nov 1. Do the 3,4, and 6th floor rooms off the lodge have a nice view? I would like to be at the main part of the building, but would like a nice view too. Thanks!

Although my trip is a ways off, I think about it all the time and have a few questions:
1. Are there bed rails available at WL? I would prefer not to have to set up a playpen for my youngest, but do not want her to roll off the bed!
2. Is is alright to keep a cooler in your room? We did in April at the CBR to save money, but didn't know if the nicer hotels allow it.
3. Where is the best place to watch the Electric Water Parade from?

(Also wanted to test out my trip count-down timer!)

This is our first time at the WL, so I can't help with your other questions, but we stayed at the Yacht club and there wasn't any problem with having a cooler. We even used a microwave. Half the time our room looked more like a kitchen than a hotel room!
