Can anybody tell me when the new slide at Typhoon Lagoon should open? I just saw a pic over on mousesavers and this was the first I have heard of it!

A bus driver last week told us that he saw the plans for it, and it's planned to be a water roller coaster that dumps you into a lazy river. He said it is supposed to open spring 2005, but that it hasn't been officially "released" to the public yet.

It is like the master blaster and is supposed to have a few spill pools and what not...
looks like it will be cool with the concept art and stuff.

Looks fun!!

Ever since I was a child I wanted to go to a waterpark, but have never been to one. Hoping to visit the waterparks at Walt Disney World in 2006!!

We have not visited Schlitterbahn and we are only a couple of hours away.

I am so glad WDW is getting a Master Blaster because I priced a weekend for us to drive down to Schlitterbahn and it was going to be very expensive. Their day passes are more than TL or BB. Also S-bahn (open seasonally) is located in a very small town and the accomodations near by are not very desireable and very expensive. We may still visit, but it will be a day trip.

I saw on the Travel Channel where S-Bahn beat out Bliz. Beach for the top spot in the country so the M-Blaster will probably move TL into the top 10.

They must have hired S-Bahn to build the one in TL.

Haven't heard of the Texas one, but in a swimming pool over here, we have a Master Blaster. It propells your rubber ring up and around bends using jets, ending up in a splash in a pool. Same idea?

I hope so...

We've been to the newer Schlitterbahn park, Schlitterbahn Beach, on South Padre Island. Their water park technology is amazing. SB is set up so that you never have to leave your intertube. Their lazy river has a conveyor belt and a locks system that takes you up to the beginning of the slides. Most of the slides have the uphill system. It is really amazing. Looks like I'll have to give TL another try.

Schlitterbahn has a sister company that builds and designs WP attractions including the Master Blaster style uphil water coasters.
Their name is NBGS Intl. Master Blaster is patented, so if TL is getting one then it is being built by NBGS. This is very good news, because NBGS is #1 in WP's.

Here are some of their other projects:NBGS Water Parks

They built a new park in Delaware and have some pretty amazing parks in other parts of the world.

I didnt even know they built a newer park in S. Padre. That is further south, but that may be an option for us!

LIFERBABE ... Schlitterbahn Beach is on the south tip of the island, right at the entrance into the state (or is it national) park. It is a lot smaller than the main park but it is very well designed. The Restaurant there, Shrimp Hauze, is very good.

Here's some information and an artist rendering courtesy of Screamscape.com. They have the name of the attraction listed as "Crush 'N' Gusher".

Disney announced at last their Master Blaster waterslide project that will open in Spring 2005. The new slide will be part of Hideaway Bay, a whole new themed area of the park. They describe the new attraction as a combination of steep drops and gravity defying “coaster-like” inclines where you are powered uphill by water jets. Riders will travel through what appears to be a rusted out tropical fruit facility, weaving the rides through the wreckage of the fruit plants old wash facilities. There will be three different “fruit spillways” to choose from: Banana Blaster, Coconut Crusher and Pineapple Plunger.

I've seen that Travel Channel show a few times and I'm so psyched that WDW is getting that water roller coaster. Hopefully it will be up and running by the end of April. We live near Splish Splash which was rated #5 on the show and I hope they have plans to add one too!!!

Oh yay! We love Typhoon Lagoon, and had to miss it last year because we went during its down season. This slide looks way cool, I hope it's open in May!

We will be there 3/2-3/11 and I have a feeling the new one won't be open then. Shucks!!

Skatermom--it was for a local competition. We don't have many ISI clubs/rinks around here. Probably 90% are USFSA. Her next one is in February. She is at a different level and will also be doing a spins event. What level is your DD at? My DD really enjoys competing and doesn't get those jitters. I suffer from them more than she does!
