New Package Discount for Disney Visa Holders!

I don't know if I can explain it well enough to understand, but here goes a try:

There are X number of rooms available at a given resort, but only a percentage of those rooms will be available at the "Discount Code Rate". Just because a room is available online, doesn't mean that it is a "Discount Code Rate" room. You may be able to reserve that room for non-code price, but not code price. So when you see available rooms on the WDW site, it doesn't mean that it is available at code rate. Make sense?

It makes sense, but doesn't mean I am happy about it!

If I can't use the code, I doubt I'll switch resorts. I already have an AAA disc. Since we are going for Thanksgiving, DH is INSISTING on staying on the monorail. So the only resorts we could switch to are CR or GF. I'm waiting for the computers to come up before I can see if anything is available for either of those.

OK, after reading Mousesavers.com I see that August 17th the public may use this code too, if that's so, we don't need the Disney Visa Card to use the code. Is that correct or I'm just not reading this right?

Hi NC State - - I didn't see a reply to this question, did you find out the answer? If not, can someone let us know?

I would rather not apply for a Disney Visa (at this time), but if it is correct that the public can use the code without having a Disney Visa (on ? 8/17), then I would assume that it means that it would be tough to get the code applied to the reservation along with "the public" right? :confused3

thanks!

are there any rumors at all of a room only code ???? I already have my tickets and we are not interested in dinning ...

I have the card and the codes but we are going on Sept. 27th and I just can't see spending another few thousand to go back so quick. We are already planning our 3rd trip in March and we haven't made our second one yet.

It is a good deal and sure wish we could afford to go back so quick but we can't.

Have a great time everyone!

jjohnson--sorry it took so long to answer your post--had to work

Anyway, we booked CSR standard room plus dining and 1 day base tickets for 2 adults and 1 child (7). Total before discount was 977.08, after discount 788.08 for a savings of $189. HTH.

Why do you buy only a one day base

We have a 2 Bedroom Beach Club Villa booked. Just called my AAA TA and the systems are still down (4:20 EST). Wondering if anyone tried for a discount at any of the DVCs and if so, what were the savings like. :cheer2:

Forgive me if I missed this answer on this thread already, but here's my question....

Those of you who had existing reservations, were they already on your disney visa? For those who did, in all cases do they have to cancel out and then rebill at the same time? What I'm wondering is, what if you only had $500 available on your card, obviously you could not take on a $2000 or so charge, while waiting for the other to credit back. Does this make sense? How did/does it work? Can they just refund back the price difference?

I think maybe the poster purchased one day base tickets per day (no hopper). I do because we just stick to one park per day. :)

I just called Disney at 5:15 pm computers are still down.:(

I was just wondering if the discount is available for November 19-27 as I will be at CSR? I have a package booked through AAA with the discount and nwas wondering if this deal is better? I do not have the visa but if the public codes come out I was wondring if it woulod be worth it. Thanks for any help you can give.Congrats to all who saved a bit! :cheer2:

I know I saved between $250 $ $350 on my package. How much do they charge for travel insurance? I was at work when I called and did not say if I wanted it or not.

Just got off the phone and Disney (5:15 EST)said they don't know when they will be back up, could be tomorrow she said!
They must have had a crash or something. I called at around 2:00 and she said call back in 2 hours.

I have reservations for Nov. 26th-Dec 2nd with room only AAA discount room at POp. at the 20% off rate.
They won't give any discounts for Thanksgivng and the following friday and saturday, so we are staying offsite the first three days and going to Pop on Sunday..... so thats why I was wondering if the code would help with that.
We have bought out tickets already too (before they went up)

Lets see thats $492.00 room and $502.00 for two 7 day hoppers...we don't have the dining plan but would get it if it pays to do it.

Also if we can apply the code and get credit for the difference. The entire ammout has already been put on our disney credit card.

Lots of questions need to be answered so they need to get their system back up now!

To book a package, you are required to at least have a room reservation and a park ticket for each person staying in the room.

If you already have an Annual Pass or other park tickets, you can book a room for any length of time and get a 1 Day Base Ticket to fulfill the requirement of the ticket.

For example....I have an annual pass. I am now booked at the AAA rate at Pop Century in December on a room only reservation. If the discounted package with the ticket is cheaper than my existing room-only package....then, I can book a 7 night package with 1 day base tickets and save those 1 day base tickets for another trip. I can always go to Guest Services and upgrade the 1 day ticket to a 10 day ticket in the future and only pay the difference between the 2 ticket prices.

I hope I didn't confuse you too much with my bad explanation. Basically, you have to purchase a ticket to get the discounted package. If you already have a ticket or annual pass, the minimum that you can purchase is a 1 day pass to get the discounted package.

We have days left on our tickets from last year and only needed a one day ticket--you need to add at least a one day base ticket to add the dining. :thumbsup2

Little known secret...CRO will put a temp. hold on a room/pkg, give you ressie # & call you back to confirm (they'll give you up to an hour or so) if you ask nicely...I explain I need to confer w/DH, get my credit card, etc.

So, thanks to this thread, I lucked out...had a pkg on temp. hold when the system went down. When agent called me back, I was able to give her my CC info, etc. & she said she'll input same once all is restored w/computer system.

We originally had a room only (CR Tower MK view) @ $425.93/night AAA rate - off top of my head, think rack was around $50 more night or $475. Total for 3 nights would have been $1277.79. We were going to convert to pkg costing +$471 = $1,748.79.

We flipped it to pkg, same room type, 3 nights, DP & 1 day base tix for 2A & 1 C, total price of $1,631.86 (w/o trip insurance).

total price $1,632
tix trade in value (210)
dp value (261)
DVC 1 night savings (120)

Net cost $1,041

Figure we're saving $237 off AAA pkg rate & another $150 or more off rack rates or up to $387 overall.

This was on another thread in here:

The new package is good for the following dates:

10/1-11/18
11/24-12/1
12/9-12/23

The example given was 5 nights value $355 per adult $176 per child & includes 6 day base tickets.

This was my situation:

I had a 7-night room-only reservation booked and had most of it paid off using my Disney Visa (I'd charge one night each month and then pay off the charge. I only had one night left to pay).

I called today and changed to the MYW Package using the Disney Visa discount. I paid the required $200 deposit using my Disney Visa.

After the package reservation was made the CM cancelled my room-only reservation and said my Disney Visa would be credited for the total I'd already paid on that reservation. She said it takes 7-10 business days for the credit to post. While I have room on my Disney Visa to pay the package I'll wait until I get my credit and then I'll call back and charge an amount equal to the credit towards my MYW package. After that I'll still owe about $400 on the package that will be due by September 6.

I don't know how it works if you already had a MYW package (with a deposit paid by a Disney Visa) and then switched to the discounted MYW package.
