New JTA procedure

Wow, I must be missing something...we've done JTA the past 3 years (most recently in April of 2015) and I've never seen anyone other than the no-name Jedi trainer, the padawan assistant, Darth Vader, and the two Stormtroopers. Is this a new part of the show? Or maybe something they just don't bother with during non-peak times?

Sounds pretty cool though!
Show was completed changed in 2015. It closed for a few months and reopened in December.

What age do kids have to be for this ?
My two boys will be 8 and 11 when we arrive.

Interesting change, not sure how I feel about it yet. The past two years I have used an 8am H&V ADR to get front of the line for JTA signup and it's worked really well. I guess with this change , assuming I still want to keep the H&V, would be to get there at the same time (around 7:45) sign up and then have an 8:15ish time for the ADR. I'll be watching to see how this plays out over the next few months, our trip is not until August. I'll still snag an 8:00 ADR on my booking day next week, just to be on the safe side.

we are going in April - have an 8:05 ADR at H&V.... we got that for the purpose of getting to Jedi Training sign ups first.... not really sure what to do now. We have to sign up and go quick because part of our group needs to leave by 11 that day.

We were at rope drop this morning and only ADR guests were allowed early park entry. At 8:50, gates opened and the JTTT CMs with signs were stationed at the intersection of Hollywood and Vine directing guests to the sign-up location.

I think that might be a good thing. There's no guarantee that the park will open early; just that if it does, you can sign up for JTA right away and then move onto your next queue.

forgive the dumb question but.......... how does lining up for JTA work? Is there some special area you have to stand in with your kid before opening if you want to sign them up? and why do they get let in early? why not have a CM at the front gate taking names?

While it will be nice to see the routine it won't be the same as the up close and personal performance JTA had

I disagree. To me, it makes perfect sense to move the routine to the stage show.

Darth Maul was in one movie 16 years ago, and then some cartoons. Kylo Ren is a star of the current film and will be a star going forward. In a show that is about providing an interactive Star Wars experience for kids, bringing in the hot new thing makes much more sense. I can speak for my three boys - they would much rather get up close and personal with Ren.

We were there on Tuesday 2/22, and when we arrived at 8:20 they were letting people in for JTA. We went in and signed up, the first few shows were already full. We ended up picking the 12:10 although we could have picked the 11:40...would have interfered with TSM FP.

Monday's date was 2/22. Did you mean you were there Tuesday 2/23?

We are going down today and was wondering other then getting there early do we need to do anything special. Is there a special area we need to line up to get on the JTA early let-in?

This actually makes my plans a lot easier! We had planned on signing up first thing then hopping to epcot for the morning and then heading back to DHS in the afternoon for JTA and the rest of the park. Glad this might be a new change for the better!!!

If they are letting JTA participants in early they'll have signs. Otherwise, just wait at a turnstile and head to the sign up area once they let folks in. This will happen before rope drop. They'll let folks in and hold them at several points. I think it's at this point when they have been opening up sign ups for JTA lately. When we went in December you had to wait to sign up till they dropped the internal ropes. So you were behind those that headed straight to rides. But recently there have been reports that they are going on and signing folks up while they wait for the internal ropes to drop. That is allowing those who get it done before internal rope drop to get signed up and move on to be ready to head to a ride.

Sad. My oldest was looking forward to seeing Vader there on our next vacation. Don't know who will be more disappointed: Her, or her daddy :(

they must be testing out the early sign ups... I feel like if it was a new procedure they would let people know. if people can report back on their experience - it will be helpful to us planning trips soon.

Do you mean in the M&G? She can still fight Vader in JTA
