Can only go to prison if they get caught. If they are located overseas the likelyhood of them being found and convicted are very slim. Also some countries wouldn't turn them over even if they were caught. Look at all the banking fraud out there. People getting and cashing checks and sending the money back overseas. The people are never caught. Dateline has done many undercover stories on this scam. I am just saying beware of what you could be getting yourselves into. My gut tells me something is not quite right about this deal thats all.

It wasn't too long ago that Super 8 did a $8.88 promo. Once we book (using a low limit cc) I will call the hotel and confirm that I have a ressie that is Paid In Full.

Something I've been wondering about all day is if I am hoping for a family suite for my family of 6 and I have 4 adults entered and 2 kids to narrow it down, what if when the promo starts (assuming I'm still sane enough to participate at that time) there are NO choices??????? Do you think I'm better off with 2 adults and 2 kids and then even if a suite doesn't pop, at least I can take something? or should I keep it narrowed??????

I agree it is very deceptive. They did not say anything about this in the terms and conditions. If you were actually paying a $1 for the room they could not make you pay income tax on it. I think people are going to fight them when they find out that they have to pay income tax on the full cost of the room. This can be very expensive for some people. If you book a $1000 a night villa or something equally expensive it can push you into a high tax bracket. Some people may even find that this pushes them into having to pay alternative minimum tax next year whereas without this they might have just missed it. May not seem like such a big deal until you run the numbers and find that you are paying way more than you ever could have imagined for this so called "free" room.
