Need to vent!

I can't believe someone cut down your tree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would be so livid that I couldn't think straight!

I hope you are doing better today! My blood pressure is up now...

Update...sorry had a dance recital to go to

The cops came, took the pics before and after my statement. They talked to my neighbor *90 year old lovely woman* who confirmed it was her son in law who hired said "cutters".

We tried to call Son In Law who won't talk to us. The cute lady next door called and he admitted to her he didn't know the name of the company. It was just as I thought. They were no name people looking for cash only with no company affiliation and no ties to him at all. They did NOT give him an invoice and he paid them $125.00 in cash. He claims he only hired them to take care of the tree on THEIR side of the property but even the cops claimed they killed and they went too far on our side. I have a report on file and if anything else happens I can file a report but for now I have nothing.

I will post a pic of the newly butchered tree tomorrow. I am pissed beyond belief but believe it is the SON IN LAW who did this and not my neighbor who I still adore!

Our house is behind our garage which is the front of the property and so except for the chainsaw noise I wouldn't have known anyway until it was too late. I have a report against the son in law but I can't go any further legally with it for now.

I am so pissed off but I have no recourse as I cannot prove the name of the company involved and I cannot prove the son in law didn't say just trim the side hanging over the property line.

I have a report filed with the son in law's name and the neighbor as well and if anything else happens on "their" side of my property I WILL have something to stand on...for now I am SOL!

Glad you did something, now you have it on record. Yes just take care of the tree on my side of the property, yeh right they knew what they were doing. Taking down the tree! Now it has to come down:mad: Have a better day today:hug:

Sorry about your tree but if it was hanging over into their property they have a right to cut it back to your property line. Of course if they went to far then you have to take action. I have a neighbor who has a pine tree and the branches hang over my fence and it makes a big mess with the needles all over my yard and I do cut the branches back.

Is the tree near power lines? I know in our area, the power company hires tree removal companies to look for trees that appear to be dying or are growing too close to lines and they'll cut them down without warning.

A team showed up at my house about a year ago, and luckily I was home that day. They tried to cut down 2 trees in my yard that they said could potentially fall and bring down power lines on the street. One of the 2 trees was perfectly fine - but they wanted to take it down to gain easier access to the other which did appear to be dying. I refused to allow it and threatened to call the police. Had I not been home to stop them, I suspect they would have just cut down both.

EDIT: Sorry, did not read through all responses before posting this. Sorry about your tree!

As someone already pointed out, there's plenty you can do. Before I thought about taking this to court, I would have a conversation with the son-in-law asking to be reimbursed. Then get estimates for how much it would cost. If he doesn't comply, then it's off to court. It doesn't matter that you don't know the name of the company. As far as you're case is concerned, it's irrelevant. He can sue them if he would like but it shouldn't matter to you who they were.

You'll have to excuse me if I seem a little annoyed but posters not reading the whole thread is a big pet peeve of mine. The OP already stated that this was not the case.
