DH and I are making a Christmas Trip and at our home resort which is BWV, to celebrate that after almost 2 years of unemployment, DH has started and new job and can't come until 2 days later. So fellow DVCers I have two days in WDW solo...never been solo before...ideas that I can do until DH arrives. Want to save alot of the attraction activities for after he arrives. Would it be weird to go to MVMCP alone? This is one thing he doesn't enjoy.

Thanks all!

I'd take the attitude that "The World is your oyster!" I've been to WDW a couple of times for a conference and spent some time in the parks by myself. I loved it. It's a nice change of pace to get up when you want to, go exactly where you, want to do, eat exactly where you want, at your own pace. If you are interested in MVMCP go for it. There are probably many more attractions that your DH may not be interested in that you can enjoy before he gets there. Also, if lines are short when you're there alone there's not reason why you can't go on some of the popular attractions by yourself. You can always do them again when your DH arrives. In our case we can't get too many rides on BTMRR. When DH comes you'll have done some trail breaking groundwork so you can maximize your time together.
Another idea is that you might want to tour some of the other resorts and have a nice lunch or dinner there. Have fun!

:grouphug: Congratulations on his getting a job, and your celebration!!!

If there's a MVMCP when you're there alone, go for it and savor whatever makes it so special for you!

If you enjoy shopping more than he, perhaps that's something you can do before he gets there, and maybe include a special surprise for him!

I enjoy watching animals at AKV more than DH, and I know I would spend time in the public areas of AKV, reading and enjoying the view. I would also be more likely to spend time by the gorillas at AK. The Jingle Jungle parade is a favorite of mine, and I've watched it solo a few times, and I love the Festival of the Lion King lots more than DH does. I would also ride bikes around FW, and take some of the resort boat rides, like from OKW to DTD.

Bobbi:goodvibes

I'd do the MVMCP if it's available. If you have an AP, I'd probably hit all the parks and do just the things I know I'll enjoy doing alone. It might be fun to catch things like the nighttime shows and scope out the best viewing spots for when he is there.

Do MVMCP and maybe Candlelight Processional (if that is something he might not be excited about). Spend time visiting the resorts and DTD to see decorations.
Hope you and DH have an extra-magical trip! :goodvibes

I would totally do the MVMCP it is so much fun!! And my all-time most favorite thing to experience at Christmastime is the Candlelight Processional at Epcot. My DH didn't enjoy it as much as I did. I thought it was beautiful and I tear up just thinking about it now:laughing:

In fact when we go in December I was thinking of sneaking away one night by myself to go see it!!

I would also recommend booking a spa appointment at SSR. You could go do whatever you want and not feel pressured to go do anything else:thumbsup2

Have fun!

Oh, I second the idea of a spa treatment. Even if it's just a mini-facial or something simple. Just some relaxing "me" time for you to enjoy.

I would also resort-hop to take in all the decorations and do some photography, if that interests you.

Maybe you could hit DTD and do some shopping as well.

I've never done the parks solo, but think it would make me miss my loved ones too much to see all of the families enjoying themselves there.

Also don't know if I could truly enjoy a good meal alone. Maybe I'll have to try it sometime!

Also, if you are in to shopping more than DH, I would go to Epcot and just browse the shops in WS. Maybe have lunch at Chefs de France an actually pretend like you're at a Paris cafe.

I personally make sure I always get some alone time when we are at the world. DW and DD do not like/ cannot go on all the rides, so I use the EMH to go on these rides.

If he's not a fan of MVMCP than I say go for it while you're solo! I'm another vote for the spa... either SSR or GF, although SSR has the better DVC discount option. I'm a big fan of people watching as well. Pick your favorite park, get a nice lunch, snack, beverage, whatever and sit and watch the world go by... it never ceases to amuse!

Another vote for the spa. Also, how about the tea at the GF. And what about a tour (Keys to the Kingdom, Backstage Safari, or the Holiday one they have). :)

I'm truly envious, as much as I like to travel and share my DVC with family and friends, the thought of 2 whole days to myself at Disney sounds fabulous. Going where and most of all when I want to the parks, restaurant etc is a dream come true. Never mind a spa day, my 13 year son sees this as an absolute waste of time.

A perfect day, Coffee and Croissant at the Boardwalk bakery, over to MK to ride POTC, HH, MP, head over to Epcot, Morocco for lunch (Tangerine Cafe), facial in the afternoon, relax at the resort and then head to DHS for the Osborne lights!

You lucky thing you!

Man, I knew I came to the right place for ideas! You are all awesome! Thanks all.:wizard: Today I booked a spa appointment at SSR and got a MVMCP ticket. I may take my full camera bag and take time with a FILM camera and lenes. Not sure I am bold enough go to a restaurant and eat alone. Have to think about that.:yay:

First of all - congrats!!! I am sure this trip will be a great one to celebrate the new job!!!

Not at all - if he does not enjoy that, you should go and have a blast

Enjoy the vacation - sounds like you deserve it!

RESORTS, RESORTS, RESORTS!

All of the resorts have special Christmas events - Choirs, orchestras, outstanding Holiday decorations, sometimes snacks & drinks!

DW and I always do a round of the resorts during the Christmas visit. Each resort has a different flavor for the holidays, but always that outstanding Disney flair and magic.

And congratulations to you and DH on the new gig! :woohoo:

never thought about going to different resorts or sleeping late! Since becoming DVC members we have not stayed in many of the resorts. I like this idea thanks:love:

First, congrats to you husband on the job landing.:goodvibes

We always set aside several hours for photography. We enjoy the thrill of the hunt of the perfect picture. Low light, of course.:thumbsup2
It sounds like you have a great plan. Enjoy.:)
