Need Some Help

Hey everyone! I have a 1 y/o 22cuft. with icemaker fridge that I want to give to someone that really is in need of one. The catch is they can't have it till Jan 8th or so. I'm moving and live in the Hackettstown area of New Jersey (about an hour from NYC). Does anyone know of someone who can use it and come and get it or an organization that will do it?

In our area we have a Help Center through the local social services that coordinates people who need appliances with those who have them to give. We got rid of a washing machine that way. Try calling your local social services office.

I don't know of a particular agency in your area, but we had some appliances to get rid of after my grandmother passed away. I called our local DSS (Department of Social Services) to ask them about it, and they took the fridge, microwave, and clothes dryer (the washer was dead). The fridge and microwave went to clients who had gotten back on their feet, and were living in apartments instead of shelters. The dryer went to a battered women's and children's shelter.

I sure wish we lived closer to you! The Family Assistance Center (Maine Army National Guard) is looking for a donation of a refrigerator for the Portland FAC. This is a place where families can come in, get comfortable, kids can play games, parents can get information such as benefits etc. as well as support. Local businesses donate food and drinks but we have no where to store them! Maybe you could check with your local National Guard or a community center. It is so thoughtful of you to donate this large item. I hope it finds a good home. Happy Holidays bjgrazi.
