Need help getting smoke smell out of used vehicle we bought

Coffee grounds & apple slices. My girl friend put unused coffee grounds & apple slices in containers rubber banded tulle over the top, changed the apple slices every other day.

I literally get outraged when I see someone smoking in a car - especially really nice cars that would have an outstanding resale value - if it weren't for the horrible ripe rank odor of tobacco smoke.

Your best bet is to 'bomb' the car - and then leave the windows open for a few days (weather permitting).

After that you will want to vacuum the carpets after sprinkling baking soda on them a few hours before.

Orange Oil can actually break down the chemical composition of tobacco odors - so you may want to try that on the headliner.

Find the fresh air intake and use Odo-ban - it's a commercial strength disinfectant and deodorizer. That should get fresh air circulated through the vents.

As a PP said - if the car has a cabin air filter - be sure to change that.

People just don't realize how horrible smoking is, especially in a confined space like a car. It permeates and stains EVERYTHING.

You might try using ozone. I'm seen the cans for sale at auto parts shops. They are to be used for getting rid of smells. There are also ozone making electric devices that can be plugged into your lighter. I have one, and when used in the past it was great at removing odors.

Interesting. What do apple slices and coffee have to do with deodorizing? I happen to have both, but it seems like a weird combo ! Of course coffe and apples smell better than cigarettes! LOL

You can try shampooing the headliner with Bio Kleen Bac Out & the hand tool on the shampooer. A rented Rug Dr. would work fine.

I don't think anyone dislikes cigarette smoke as much as I do.

Honestly. I wouldn't care how good of a "deal" the vehicle was...it's not worth sitting (and gagging) in a vehicle that stinks.

And then to top it off, I'm sure the occupants of the vehicle stink like cigarettes when they get out.

Keep looking...there are other vehicles for sale out there that were driven by non-smokers.
