Need help dealing with Autistic neighbor

I do not have experience with autism. but i do have experience with a neighborhood boy who is troubled, and caused havoc for my DD.

He has ADHD, an aide with him at school, lives with grandparents (father cudnt care less bout him) gparents I think only took him in because they 'had' to. He's in 5th grade now.

Our development is a circle- there are 3 other streets near here...down a large hill. This boy would ride his bike UP the hill to our development. Ride around and around yelling/swearing spitting/sticking up his middle finger etc.... The straw that broke the camels back- was 2 actually

1 day I came home(2 summers ago)- around the south side of the neighborhood...when I do this, the backyard of my house is not visible to me, nor am I to them. I went in the house, stood in the kitchen, and heard water splashing...first thought, that stuipd dog jumped in the pool. So I threw open the slider, NOPE_ its this kid!

I freaked!!!!!!! and I do mean FREAKED!!! I yelled (caught off guard) GET OUT OF MY POOL NOW!!!!!! He sort of looked at me funny, slowly got out of the pool, and walked off through the back yard. I stood there STUNNED. I called the grandparents- "well, "johnny" got issues'... and I said- well let me tell you you would have had SERIOUS issues had he drown!....after I hung up with them I called the cops

I issued a "note of tresspass" which really means nothing if your a minor...but this boy was not allowed on my property AGAIN..(he never was invited or allowed, he just showed up )...

Fast forward- this past winter. DD comes home from the bus HYSTERICAL! She's 7 at the time "johnny" hit her in the bus room..and then threw gum at her on the bus, and it stuck in her hat...sure enough her "mental" hat was ruined..it was a huge fuzzy purple mowhak hat we use while skiing over their helmets to find em on the slope!....

I call the principal at DDs school....explain everything DD said- sure enough he pushed her from behind....I FLIP.....

I go down to the super's office meet with the bus guy and these were my EXACT WORDS....(prinipal was there by now as well)

"if this boy is EVER on that bus with her, or in that bus room with her again, I will sue the school district because physical assault is not legal, and this school/bus ride is not safe for her, and it's your responisbliity to make sure it is. This child is bullying her, and if something such as this happens again, dont expect to see me in your office, you will hear from my lawyer"...

Long story short- the boy no longer comes to this neighborhood, does not ride the bus, and is not allowed in the bus room.

I feel for your DD, I know my daughter was petrified of this kid for a LONG time!!!..

Good luck- and STICK TO YOUR GUNS!!!!!!!!! it's your childs safety you need to be concerned with, not the parenting of this child!!! Thats his mothers job..you take care of your daughter...

I'm not sure what resources you have in your state but I worked with Autistic children for several years as a Speech therapist. We had a group we worked with called TEACH. They came into the schools and helped diagnose students as well as came up with Individualized Education Plans. If you have that resource in your state these evaluators work very closely with the child and the parents to help them function as best as possible. You may be able to get some advice from them. Unfortunately, the severity level can also effect behavior. It can be difficult to get an autistic child to redirect repetitive behaviors. If you do approach the parent, I would educate myself on understanding autism through the internet before that conversation. Good Luck!
