From what's been reported, you can't combine the new referral incentive with the $500 Disney Visa Rewards incentive...so those of you that got in with that deal aren't necessarily missing out on anything as it appears to be an "either/or" situation.

I would never imply to a total stranger that if they used my name they'd get a better deal.

Most of all, the proprietors of this board should be ashamed for even allowing this type of selfish promotion to go on. Of all the crap they do stomp out, it is appauling that this is allowed to go on.

I'm probably going to go ahead and buy a DVC when we go to Disney next month. I 'm already working with a guide, who told me about 2 weeks ago that this promotion did not exist. It must have just come back or something.

Anyway, I still don't have enough posts to PM, but I can receive them. So, if you would like to be my referral, please PM me. I'm not sure of all the data I need, but you probably do!

Before you belittle these people, you should have done your homework. The current incentives says a current member referral is needed in order to receive the $500 Visa Gift Card.

Shame on you for pointing your finger.

Our guide Steve left us a message saying that he talked to management and allowed us to get the new incentive that started on the 29th even though we started on the 19th. He did not mention anything about it invalidating the disney visa offer - he kept mentioning that it was in addition to everything we had already done. We should have it in about 5 weeks since he mentioned we should close next week (which seems very soon).

I'm sorry if you are offended by this line of posting Bob but I was under the impression that this particular offer - referred to as family and friends in other locations - was only available if you provided a member referral. While the benefit to the current member is nice, I'm just happy that new members can recieve an additional savings.

I see nothing wrong with helping someone save some money on their purchase. I thought this board was all about helping fellow Disfans out when possible.

I stayed away from this board for a long time because of posts like this. It is a shame that some take their frustrations with life out on others. I just don't get how that makes some people happy! Guess I am out of here again....maybe someday things will change.

actually you DO get something. Like $250 or whatnot for every person you refer. That's why it is annoying when someone asks about current incentives. All the threads end up saying "PM me!!!!"

My husband and I and sister took a DVC tour Jul 22. My sister purchased 160 AK points on Fri the 25th and got the deal BlakeNJ described. She was able to use some of her developer points to extend our stay at SSR 3 more nights in a 1 bedroom unit. The points also can be used at Disneyland resorts and my other sister may use those points for an August trip she already planned (if there is availability).

Only certain states allow compensation for a referral. So I'm sure plenty of people do it just to help someone else.

Actually you are wrong.

Under the terms of the new incentive, buyers get an additional $500 credit (gift card) for purchasing 160+ at AKV only if they have the name of a current member to use as a referral.
