I haven't called yet (because I spend too much time on the DISboards!) but I don't know why a 160 pt purchase wouldn't qualify for the Disney Visa Rewards too -- the promo is good until 9/15 and I don't recall ever seeing anything indicating is was just for existing members. Hmmm.

Is there a benefit to the member for referring? How do we know if we reside in a state that can/cannot accept the benefits?

New Members ONLY
AKV ONLY
Minimum 160 points
Dec Use Year
Points can not be used until May 2009
$104 point
Less $8/point = $96/point
No dues paid until May 2009
Equal to purchase developer points--must be used within one year and ONLY at SSR

With a DVC Referral:
All of the above
PLUS $500 Visa Gift Card (expires one year) per 160 points purchased. For example, if purchasing 320 points, you will receive $1000 gift card.

We got a "refer-a-friend" package earlier this week, and here is what it detailed as the latest incentive:

It was for Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas only, and you must buy minimum of 160 points to qualify. No dues until May 2009, but you can't use your points before then either. However, you do get developer's points equal to the amount of points you purchase (they have to be used at SSR though). Discounted price of $96 per point ($8 off I believe). And the biggie for having a referral from a current member is that you get a $500 Visa gift card for every 160 points you purchase.

I was told by our guide it just started yesterday, it gives you an extra 500 dollar Visa Gift Card, since our closing date still hasn't arrived (next week) he was able to get it for us.
