My guess is they will do it indirectly...by letting onsite guests book 60 plus 10. And whatever is still "available" will be available.

I dont think they will tier the resorts directly either. But I could see them using it as a promotion to entice folks to move up a resort level (value to mod to deluxe to club level)

i'd be willing to bet they do this....they do it with the free DDP promotion. they also offer higher room discounts for moderates and deluxe

There is a world of difference between offering a bigger % off if you spend a lot more money and having different levels of ride access if you spend more money.

I have been saying this from the start. I do not see Disney offering FP+ across the board, to everyone regardless of resort ( on or off-site), with the same benefits Of course they are going to make money off of this. Why invest in this? Cause the bands are cute???

They are going to look at ways to upsell whether booking an on-site package ( deluxe vs others) or maybe a AP "premium" where you get more FPss

Sure they have said everyone is eligable. But where are the details? Do,they say EVERYONE gets so many per day, for all rides?? In FaQs it states "in general" you get 3 per park, per day. I can definately see them offering additional for either 1. money : as in upgrade your MMY package.. Besides PH , water, there's a FP upgrade. 2. resort upsell: 1 per day based on tiered system based on resort class.

One benefit we will see though are any tour groups no longer being able to suck out 50+ FP via a "runner".

I'm signed up as a member to a touring plan website. (no web-addresses ;) )

Going through some of their information, FAQ's, etc. I ran across this little gem.

Disney also seems ready to limit the combinations of FASTPASSes you can have, preventing some guests from using FASTPASS on the parks headliner attractions. Again, while the rules havent been finalized, were hearing that Disneys computer systems may enforce different rules depending on whether youre staying offsite or at a Disney value, moderate or deluxe resort. The chart below shows how these rules might be implemented at the Magic Kingdom.

GUEST HOTEL CHOICE -- NUMBER OF FASTPASSES GUEST CAN OBTAIN AT MAGIC KINGDOM'S "MOUNTAINS"

Off-site / Day Guest -- 0
Disney Value Resort -- 1
Disney Moderate Resort -- 2
Disney Deluxe Resort -- 3

To prevent class warfare, we hear Disneys computer systems wont even hint at the distinctions between hotel guests.

I haven't seen anything even unofficially from Disney that says this. Are they just planning a worst case scenario, or is there something I've missed? :confused3

Wow. If that turns out to be true (that's an epic IF) that's some serious suckage. But reading it more makes me just realize that's just somebody's opinion of how things might work, and therefore no different than anyone else on here.

The constant use of the word "available"...."up to 3" and reassurance that standby is still there and the queues are kind of fun...and this sentence...

The total number of FastPass+ experiences available to you during your visit depends on several factors including availability and the vacation packages and tickets linked to your Disney account.

Right there, the number depends on your vacation package/tickets.

All of this suggests to me that it is not just going to be 3-a-day across the board.

I'm still willing to read that as having to do with the LENGTH of said package. The more days, the more total selections per ticket.

But it could totally be something different.

I saw this a while back on touringplans.com's blog. I don't know where they got this information. Maybe they just made it up?

I would certainly hope that Disney would have the common sense to NOT do something like this. Although I do my "big" yearly trip in a Deluxe resort, I am also a big fan of the moderates for shorter trips. It would be a shame if they resorted to this.

ok...hoppers and no expiration used to be included as part of a park pass...better example? what about concierge level service at resorts?

bottom line is there has been, currently is and most likely will continue to be tiering of some sort by Disney. It's just not as blatant as other venues.

I agree. I think they are saying that you can't book FP+s for 7 days if you only have 4 day ticket.

Also, in the day and age of social media, there is NO WAY Disney could keep the fact that some are getting more FP+s than others under wraps!!! Would Disney really want to tick off a bunch of off-site guest and push them towards US, IOA and SW?? I've said it once and I'll say it again....Disney wants off-site guests money just as much as on-site. They've already got on-site guest pretty much locked in. FP+ could be a way to lock more of the off-site guest in...60 days before they even get to the Orlando area and see all those cool billboards for all those other cool places.

I agree. I think Disney still has a chance of botching things in a big way with this, but I don't think they'll do as that earlier post suggested.

Well, if you believe Staggs, they ALREADY have made more money from this during the weeklong test, just because it was "fun".

They didn't go to guests and say, "Psst...hey, would you like to test Fastpass+? It'll only be an extra $100..."

A PARK ticket cost the same no matter where you stay and Disney would be crazy to punish a great number of guest just because they can't afford to pay extra for their room. Everyone pays the same amount to enter the park with a normal ticket. I don't see EMH the same way because it isn't taking something away from off-siters from every park, every day of their trip.

I agree that Disney wants off-site guests as much as onsite guests but i don't think they are overly concerned to losing guests to other venues. Disney draws guests from the 4 corners of the earth. there are plenty of guests to go around for all the theme parks. the only thing that would make me think they won't play FP+ favorites with onsite vs. offsite is that they don't need to. DDP and room discounts is an easy way to fill up the vacancies without creating a system of have vs. have not. FP+ is their marketing machine to the masses...think about it...newbie guest goes to WDW, has no prior experience with FP and how to maximize it. They are introduced to this nifty new FP+ system where everything is laid out so easily...FP+ with quick picks or the added bonus of choosing different attractions & times, ADR's, shopping, park passes...it's all in the that convenient little MagicBand+. They go on their trip, get to do what was promised from the time they booked and presto, instant perfect first trip. What do they do? they go home and rave about how easy and fun it was. Those guests don't know that they were treated unfairly because they never got to have plain old FP before the advent fo FP+ (of course i'm still waiting for the naysayers to beg for pre FP so it is equal and 'fair' to all). Oh, and one other thing about the newbie guests? they are so wow'd by the magic of Disney and FP+, MagicBand+ and MyMagic+ that they can't help but purchase a souvenier or two to commemorate their magical experience. Bingo, Bango, Bongo - increased revenue.

I received the email to participate today. I'm staying at Pop 8/2-8/9. I called the tech# listed in the email to ask a few questions.

1. Previous testers have been able to use both FP+ as well normal FP in the same day. Is this still available in the testing phase? She said it was not and that is why they are continuing testing. It is not supposed to allow you to obtain FP outside of your selection during that day. She was actually chosen to participate on Thursday and was specifically told that it would not work.

2. Can I choose to test on only 2-3 of my 8 days? Yes, you can. You choose what days you would like to use FP+. On your other days, you will pull FP as normal.

That could be. It does say "total number"

Interesting. Out of curiosity, what are you going to do? I might choose to participate one day (my AK day, since I never use more than 3 FPs there anyway) if I had an assurance that my regular tickets would actually work on my other park days without any inconvenience.

She didn't ask why you wouldn't want to participate all 8 days?? To me that would seem like a big clue that there is something about the system you don't like. Maybe that will be something you can disclose to them later.

Is it safe to trust a phone CM about something so important?? What would you do if you find out she was incorrect and you would in fact be locked into FP+ for all 8 days? Just something to think about. :)

Yeah, varying FP numbers can't be perceived as tiering or class systems IMO.

But if they find a way to weave it into to room/package booking promotions, then it doesn't have to be fair, per se.

Room discounts right now aren't fair, they don't apply across the board, they are offered on select rooms. Same for free dining.

FP+ incentives can be treated the same way.

I thought they said they want to start reducing Free Dining and room discounts? This could be a way to reduce them.

Offering people extra FPs doesn't cost them anything. Giving people free food does. I guess room discounts do in a sense as well, although less directly than food.
