So soarin' is hands down my new favorite ride. I have a theory on why it's so popular. Wanna know it? ;)

I think it's one of the very few rides in WDW that appeals to EVERYONE. When we were there, people from my DD's 3.5 yrs 41" to 80 y/r olds were standing in line to ride. What other ride gets that diverse a crowd?? TOT sure doesn't! It's the only ride that everyone in the parks wants to ride.

that's my story and i'm sticking to it! seriously, is there another ride with that broad an appeal?

I was hoping your theory would be that everyone would be darn sick of it by January 8th so that DH, DD6, and I could ride it over and over again. I just know we're going to love it. We don't do lines well, though, so I'm hoping I get a little pixie dust in that regard.

I'll send you a little pixie dust on the line issue. . . . because you ARE gonna NEED it!!!! When we were there the weekend of the 17th. TT was 20 minutes, MS was 15 minutes, SOARIN= are you ready for this!!!!!! 120 minutes!!!! All fast passes were gone by 11 AM!!!!!! :confused3

Ok, I think my plan of attack on Epcot day is to head right to Soarin' as soon as the park opens and grab a fastpass so I don't miss it. Hubby doesn't know if he wants to ride since he's afraid of heights, but I can't wait!!

I thought it was just because it is the newest "BIG" ride?

How old is Soarin? ( I haven't been yet, when did it open?)

When I was there on the 11th I got a FP then went to the stand-by line. I was there at opening so the stand-by line was only about 10 or 15 min. Then I just came back when it was time to use my FP. It worked out great!

this is my strategy for how to ride more than once in a day - works great!

oh and hit it during morning EMH - we did this 3x and TT 2x all by 10 am by hitting EMH

so what is it - no one like my theory :confused3 :rotfl2:

Your theory is right on target.. ....

Best Advice...go early....just before standing in the normal line grab a fast pass.....ride once going thru the normal line.
Then ride the 2nd time with the fastpass.

There are 2 hidden mickeys in the film I have found.
:::::::::::Spoiler WARNING:::::::::::::::

1. the golf ball that is hit towards you has a black Mickey head on it....look fast!
2. the fireworks at the end has one set of 3 that go off simultaneously in the shape of a mickey.

I agree 100% with your theory. The only other new attraction that I think comes close to this universal appeal is Philharmagic.

We got so lucky at Epcot the day we went. We got fastpasses for Soarin' waited...waited went on loved it! Said we need to do test track so we can get more fastpasses.

So...we the fast pass machine at TT was broken, got one of those all day readmit passes for TT, ran back and got another soarin' pass and rode them both twice. DD3 Loved them both so much..She was a riot in both.

People looked worried for us before the ride, but after they were laughing and told us that Ava enjoyed the ride so much that it made them happy.

120 minutes? Holy cow.

That's half the plane ride to Anaheim, where you can stay at the Grand Californian and go into the park to ride Soarin' twice!

We were there on the 19th and got a fast pass around 10:30 for a ride time at 4 pm. Oy...

I gather they fast passes were gone by noon.

At 4 when we went to ride it, the stand by line was about 100 minutes I think.

I am also scared of heights, and was very nervous getting on Soarin' ... if you are really freaked out you can close your eyes - the movie is what makes you think you're flying... I was definately nervous and was holding on to the bar real tight but it was worth it

My dh is also very afraid of heights, and we did the same thing, and when we came out of the ride we got FP for later, it was Oct, and they did run out of FP by noon most of the entire week!!

It opened May 1st for the beginning of the Happiest Celebration! I rode it on May 2nd, and it our new favorite.

You have to get a Fastpass early in the morning, or the wait is always long. As another poster said, the fastpasses are gone by late morning! One day we were there by 10am, and the FastPass was for 5:00!

Another day we got there at 9:30 (Monday after T-giving), and the big sign out front said - 30 min wait. I said to self - not too bad - shortest I had ever seen - NOT it was 60 mins in the few short minutes it took to walk to "The Land". My mother and I enjoyed the wait chatting with folks around us. I wanted her to ride it and new it was our only opportunity as I had to be home by 2:30 to pick up DD and the FastPass was for 3:00!

Hands down however, it is worth a wait.

We rode it Tuesday Dec 13. The wait varied from 30 minutes to 60 minutes. We got a fastpass at 4:00pm (They were available all day long) and rode it around 6:00pm. We went back to Epcot on Sunday Dec 18th. The wait was 120 minutes and fastpasses were gone (at 11:45am).

Dec 13th was also the day we walked onto Test Track and rode it a second time without getting off because no one was waiting in the loading area. Nice crowds. I can't imagine going during this week or during the summer.

I love Soarin'. It's a religious experience. Plus you can kinda see my house when the clouds part in the first scene.

I hope to ride but since we are 7 hours from So Cal and Disneyland, I can go on the one in DCA if there is no time when we visit WDW in 5 weeks. I was just wondering if it was exactly the same.

It's exactly the same but maybe the scents are little fresher. LOL The last time I road Soarin' in Anaheim, it didn't seem as aromatic as when it first opened. Perhaps it was an off day?

I also think the lines are so long because Epcot doesn't have very many "rides." DH and I loved Soarin'. DH actually said he would wait an hour to ride it...thankfully we were able to grab a fast pass for it!
