My Magical Journey to Running the Half Marathon TR Link! p.107

Sounds like you all had a fun time!! I bet it was a nice break in the routine. :thumbsup2

Great job getting back to your workouts!!

It sounds (and looks) like you all had a wonderful time! :thumbsup2

Good for you for jumping right back in! Don't look back, just move forward! ;)

Did you get a chance to eat at The King's Arms in Williamsburg? I love that place.

The 18th century plays they put on at Williamsburg are great too.

cute pics. That sword is so huge I'm impressed he could hold it up! Eric wouldn't have enough arm strength to lift it.

Great job today :goodvibes

Muscle memory is a beautiful thing.

Cute pics! And great job getting back on track. It's always hard to get back into the groove after taking a little time off! But it sounds like you did great! :thumbsup2

Glad you had a great time with the family!

Don't beat yourself up about the slip in eating, you are getting back into the groove and that is the most important thing. :thumbsup2

Jamestown looks wonderfully immersive and fun!! Hooray for a great time!

Don't beat yourself up too badly over the slip in eating! If it had been me that had taken a long break, I'd have gone back to Week 1!! :lmao:

We loved Jamestown! And very affordable. :thumbsup2

Going back to week 1 would have been depressing! I'm already thinking I might just try for week 6 day 3 on Sunday (25 minute run). I want to move ahead, not behind.

Great job getting back on the treadmill! Looks like you had a nice time in Williamsburg. Those mini vacations are always refreshing:goodvibes

Yes! It was much needed. We're almost to the halfway point of Chuck's deployment so this trip/visit came at the perfect time. :goodvibes

Jamestown looks like a lot of fun!!! Cute pics of the boys!

Thanks! They had a great time. :)

A break in the routine can be very nice for the soul. :thumbsup2 Not so great for the body. ;)

Kinda like, "just keep swimming"?? :rotfl:

Is that part of Colonial Williamsburg? I didn't go to CW this time. The rest of my family did and Sully joined them. I think they ate at the King's Tavern?

I thought the same thing about the sword, but the lady said it really wasn't very heavy - only 2 - 3 pounds. She said if they had been heavy, the men would have gotten tired very quickly using them.

I think it's because I liked the results I was/am seeing and don't want to lose them. :cool1:

You're so right! It's not the stopping that matters. It's the getting back on track and moving forward. :thumbsup2

I have some big changes to tell you all about, but it will have to wait a bit. :rolleyes1

Nothing like a little suspence!!! ;)
Your pics are awesome! My 6 year old would love that!

Changes??! Surely, not on the DISBoards! :lmao:

I was surprised at how much my almost 6 year old enjoyed it! He loves history and geography, but didn't think he'd have as much fun as he did. But, he has played a game at Geographic Kids about John Smith so I think that made it more interesting for him.

AACK! A cliffhanger!

:rolleyes1

:rotfl:

Ok Carissa - confess all- I am so not good with suspense:lmao:

It's nothing terribly exciting, but I will have to make some major changes to my plans.

Ch-ch-ch-changes? :scared1::scared1: ;)

Why wait? Lay 'em on us! :rotfl2:

That's exactly the song I was thinking of! :thumbsup2 The decision was just finalized yesterday afternoon so I wanted to give time for a bit of the dust to settle. ;)

Educational and affordable - great combination! :)

Changes?!?!? Yay! That's part of what makes things fun with pre-trips. :goodvibes

I love to see kids excited about learning! :cool1:
We're about to start a unit on Japan, and I am excited about making it real to them. Wigd got us some origami frogs from the Japanese Kidcot station this week, as well as some seaweed crackers for them to taste. They will love it!

Awesome! I think adding in hands on stuff really makes it memorable for the kids. :thumbsup2

Such a tease! I hope these are good changes:confused3

Not really good or bad, just different. ;)

Oh, man! I don't want to wait!!

Kathy

All right - I will post the changes before we head to the beach. :beach:

Nothing like a little peer pressure, right??!! :rotfl2:

So, here's the deal...

Some of you might remember that I took Sully to Alaska when he was eight for a wedding. At the time, I told Owen and Connor that when they turned eight, I would take each of them on their own special trip. Well, Owen is turning eight in June.

I have decided that I really want to take Owen to California for our special trip. I have always wanted to see the gorgeous California coast. Plus, I have made some wonderful friends out there and would love to meet them in person. Add to that Disneyland and it seems like the perfect choice.

So, I was trying to figure out how we would fit in a trip to Maine this year, a trip to California, and a couple's only getaway in January. It would be a huge stretch financially and difficult for Chuck to get so much time off from work. At his past jobs it wouldn't have been an issue. But, being stationed on a ship is a whole other ballgame. We know the Ike will be in dry docks getting worked on for a while so I feel the need to squeeze everything in during that time.

The plan now is this:

* August/September - Take a trip to Maine to visit family and friends. During this trip, Chuck and I will leave the boys with my parents for a few days and have a romantic getaway. This allows us to still get some time alone, but by squeezing it into an already planned trip, it won't be as costly and won't use any extra leave time.

* October/November - Owen and I will take a trip to California. This trip is still up in the air because we'll need to make sure Chuck can get the time off to watch the other two boys while we're gone.

* January - The trip to WDW for the half marathon will now be a quick, solo weekend trip. This getaway will be done as cheaply as possible. I will post more details about my ideas for the trip at a future date. But, Liz and I plan on sharing a room at Pop.

Those are the big changes. I'm pretty excited about them because I am a traveler and have been itching to go on my next adventure. This PTR could turn into a two-fer once I decide for sure on the California trip. :cool2:
