My Magical Journey to Running the Half Marathon TR Link! p.107

Your change of plans sound like 3 really fun trips!!!

Maybe when I turn 8 you can take me on a trip! :yay::rolleyes1

We had an awesome weekend here too! Last two days in the low 70's!!!

Congrats on completing this part of your training!!!:dance3::banana:

Congrats on finishing another part of the running program! 25 minutes does sound scary. I'm still on week 2 myself.:sad1: Hoping to get a run in today.

I saw you mention going for your run last night on FB. Hope it went well. :thumbsup2

All of your travel plans sound great. Trying to plan any trips around the military can be a chore. We entered the Mustang into a car show in April and it now looks like Jonas will be gone. Guess Jacob and I may be going.

It has never really been much of an issue for us in the past. But, I guess even when the ship is in dry docks Chuck will be taking classes and stuff. :confused3

Love the pictures of the beach. Seeing it on FB yesterday made me want to go today, but looks like rain off and on.

We have the rain the next couple of days. But, I can't complain!

Love the beach pictures! I can't wait to go this summer! And just remember when you are doing those runs, much of it is a mental thing. If you believe you can do it you can! Good luck:goodvibes

I have proven to myself that it is totally mental. I just need to remember that. :thumbsup2

Congrats on getting to this point in your training! :thumbsup2

Thanks for sharing the beach pictures - it looks like you guys had a great day! :cool1:

I love your quote for today! :hippie:

It's been a favorite of mine for a while. Just seemed appropriate yesterday. :goodvibes

Wow! You're kicking butt with the C25K. :worship: I have my 1st 20 min run (probably tomorrow?) to do and I'm scared! :scared1:

Amanda

You can do it! I know I was scared for that run, but it went better than I thought it would. I find it's easier to just keep going instead of stopping and having to run again.

You can do it Carissa! Look how far you've come! :cheer2::cheer2:

The beach looks great.....how nice to be able to enjoy that on a regular basis. :goodvibes

I love that the beach is so close by. And the one we go to is on a military base so it's not usually very busy (especially if we go during the week) and free parking.

The beach looks soooo nice! Cute pics! :goodvibes

You can do it!!!! :cheer2:

Thanks!

GORGEOUS pictures from the beach Carissa, the weather was beautiful yesterday!!!:goodvibes Try not to freak out about running for 25 minutes straight, I know it seems overwhelming but try to purposefully think about something. For example, (this may sound corny) when I was training for the marathon in the heat of the summer, I would do 7-8 miles on the treadmill which was excruciating:scared1: I would try to do things like 1. name every state 2. Remember something from every birthday for both of my children (with 3 it will take you longer) 3. Try to name all the presidents I could remember 4. Try to remember all my teachers from elementary school There are more but you get the idea! It really helped me because I would focus so hard on those that time just flew by! Good luck, I know you can do it!!:thumbsup2

Those are some fabulous ideas, Diane! :cool1: I kind of daydream when I'm running to the pass the time, but I like your idea because it keeps me focused on something specific. I may also try to angle my treadmill so I can watch TV, but I'm not sure if I have the space in my living room.

The boys are getting big! wow.
:worship::worship:

you are an inspiration to many.

They are! A couple of months and they turn 6, 8, and 10. Time is flying by.

Maybe when I turn 8 you can take me on a trip! :yay::rolleyes1

Oh my gosh - this cracked me up so much this morning! :rotfl:

Now we're going to get rain and cooler temps. But, the worst of winter is over! :cool1:

Your quote for the day was just what I needed to hear!

Congrats on moving forward in the running plan... you can do it! :thumbsup2

What a gorgeous day at the beach! Glad you guys had fun!

Kathy

Carissa! You can do it!! I can't believe how well you are doing! I can only hope to do half as well, in half the time.

I really like your new plans. 3 trips, all with such different focuses is a super plan.

Oh!!

Do I see a Southern California Meet in the works?????

:yay::yay::yay:

You are doing so great and I think you nailed it, you are at the point where just keeping going IS easier than the stop start. You are ready. :goodvibes

Wonderful beach day.

:woohoo: October/November is an AWESOME time to come to CA!!! :woohoo:

And as far as your C25K training is going you are doing amazing. Ya, so you had a little set back with the visit from your family, but come on, you have been so diligent with your diet and w/o's and now you have your focus back and YIKES, 25 minute runs from NOW ON!!! You go, girl!!! :thumbsup2

Loved the beach pictures, not a cloud in the sky, a beauty of a day. :beach:
Love it when the kiddos wear their SOX hats but the "Navy Kid" hat is so adorable on Connor!!! :goodvibes

We'll definitely meet up! Owen and I will probably head down closer to San Diego too. I want to see La Jolla!

Good luck with the 25 minute run today! I just did my W1D1 again. I'm going to ease into the whole thing and do each week for 2 weeks. For me it's the process, not the end that's important. I'm discovering that it's all mind games- really 1/2 the battle is in the mind. I did great! Very encouraged!

Wow the beach pics are gorgeous! You're all looking very fit and healthy so you mustn't have drunk too many guiness over St Patricks Day (guess you left that to me:rotfl2:)
Congrats on moving forward-I'm doing week 2 again because I've missed a weeks workout and I dont want to kill myself in the process:yay:

That's awesome, Liesa! And to both of you - you're in the right mindset. :thumbsup2 I sometimes get hung up on the idea that I need to follow the steps of the program perfectly or else I'm failing (yes - I have perfection issues :rolleyes1 ). But, just the fact that we're all getting off our butts and moving is a HUGE deal! We're leading healthier lives and that's what is important.

Oh - and I did have one beer while in Williamsburg (not Guinness). It knocked me off my feet! Guess I'm not used to drinking any alcohol these days. And I ended up with a migraine the next day. No beer for me!

All your plans are great C! And I get to benefit from them! ;) :goodvibes

Keep up the great work on the C25K!! :thumbsup2

For those who read my blog (and a plug for those who don't :rolleyes1 ), I recently hired a blog designer to redo my website. She used my ideas and I tweaked it a bit. I'm very happy with how it turned out. :cool1:

Will Travel by Foot

~ W6D3 ~

Today I finally got around to doing W6D3. I was supposed to run for 25 minutes straight, but I barely made it to 20. I think I was at the 12-minute mark and I thought, "There's no way I'm making it to 25." It was all I could do to hang in there until 20. But, this was only my second time running for more than 10-minutes straight. I will build up from here. It might take me longer to make it to 25-minutes and that is OKAY.

I was able to move my treadmill around a bit and I watched the Ellen Degeneres Show while I ran. That really helped. :thumbsup2

My calves are killing me right now, but my legs are sore overall from the lunges I did yesterday. I really need to get serious with my eating again. I haven't been horrible, but not as good as I was being. And trying to get through those 20-minutes today made me realize that I need to shed more weight. It can't be helping trying to carry around so much extra weight.

“Movement is a medicine for creating change in a person's physical, emotional, and mental states."

~Carol Welch

My totals for today:

Speed: 3.5 for warm up, 4.0 for jogs/3.3 cool down
Duration: 35 minutes
Distance: 1.91 miles

Great job getting on the treadmill! Don't worry about not hitting the 25 minutes. Just keep chugging along and eventually you'll get there. And don't be afraid to modify the program. If you think it will work better for you just add 1 minute per workout. Sure it will take a bit longer to get to that 25, but you'll get there. Just figure out what works for you!

You'll get there. Remember just starting out, did you ever think you could run 20 minutes, 10 minutes. You'll be going even longer than 25 minutes in no time.:goodvibes

Good for you for sticking it out until 20 minutes! You'll be at 25 in no time. :thumbsup2

I have great days with my eating and then not-so-great days. The important thing is to hang in there and don't give up! The successes feel SO good! :goodvibes

5 minutes shouldn't be too hard to add after another few tries at it. LIke you said... it's not doing the program letter perfect, but giving it all we've got! :thumbsup2
