My Magical Journey to Running the Half Marathon TR Link! p.107

:thumbsup2

It's sunny and in the 70's today so we're heading out for our first beach trip this season! Hoping it won't be too cold to just play in the sand and relax. :goodvibes

I said PEER pressure---- NOT PIER pressure! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Your plans sound good! It's too bad that everyone won't be there to cheer you on for the half-marathon but I'm happy to support you!!!

Amanda

wow, that is a lot of changes! I'm a little sad you can't do a couples trip for the half as I know Chuck was thinking about running too but your plans sound great and how wonderful it will be to go to CA in the fall!

Wow... lots of changes! I think it's great that you take each of the boys on their own trip! :thumbsup2 Sorry your Disney trip is turning into a solo trip, but it sounds like you'll still have a ton of fun & get your couples getaway when you go to Maine.

Have fun at the beach! It's gorgeous here today too.

I was watching the news last night & they were covering the crowds at the beach... it was in the 50s at the beach and there were people walking around in bathing suits! I guess cabin fever can make people do crazy things.

Oh I hope your California trip pans out! Southern CA is such a great place:goodvibes

First off... I am so jealous! We had a really nice day :sunny: here in Jersey, but, the Beach??!! *sigh*

Second, I think the CA trip sounds fantastic! And you are still getting couple time and your WDW Marathon trip as well... perfect planning! :thumbsup2

Kathy

As far as I can see it, you are getting to have your cake and eat it too! :thumbsup2 A trip to California, some alone time with Chuck, AND a Disney trip.....what's not to like!

Can't wait to hear what you have planned for your now SOLO trip! popcorn::

Your new plans sound so good-I think you've done well to get it all worked in-you're going to have so much fun in the coming months! Good for you and the boys in your life!:thumbsup2

I think Chuck is a little disappointed that he won't see me cross the finish line, but he can watch me complete the 10K in October. :thumbsup2

Chuck was mainly going to run to do it with me. It's not his dream to run a race like that. I'm looking forward to planning our New England getaway. :goodvibes

There were a few kids who went into the water (not swimming) at the beach yesterday. It ended up being about 80, but the water is still pretty cold. I screamed when the water touched my feet!

Sounds like a great change in plans. You will love Cali!

So many things to see out there - I feel overwhelmed with choices!

Oh I hope your California trip pans out! Southern CA is such a great place:goodvibes

Thanks. I have lots of great tour guides out there. :thumbsup2

I like the idea of a California trip! How special for you and Owen! Not to mention the fun of going to Disneyland and meeting up with friends!

I'm excited to visit DL, but I'm even more excited to see the gorgeous sights.

First off... I am so jealous! We had a really nice day :sunny: here in Jersey, but, the Beach??!! *sigh*

It was so wonderful being at the beach yesterday! It really was perfect weather for it. The water was cold, but that was to be expected. I tried to keep the boys out of the water as much as possible, but they couldn't resist putting their feet/legs in.

I'm feeling spoiled! :goodvibes

Thanks! I thought it was good compromises all around to make it happen.

Our time at the beach yesterday was wonderful. Just what the doctor ordered. :thumbsup2 I thought I'd share some pictures...

~ W6D2.1 ~

Here is where the freak out comes in...

Today I completed W6D2 again, which is two 10-minute runs with a 3-minute walk in between. Well, I looked at the program plan and realized that today was my last workout with intervals. From this point on, all of my runs will be at least 25 minutes in length. :scared1:  :scared1:

I know I was somewhat looking forward to this point because I can just use my own playlists now. (I did today too, but I hate watching the clock. I cover it up with a towel, but I still need to check now and again to see where I'm at.) But, man - that just seems...TOUGH! I know I was able to do the 20-minute run and survive so I know it's possible. Just a bit scary.

I really need to get back to cross-training. I haven't done any in a couple of weeks. Tomorrow it's back to EA Sports Active and lunges, I'm sure.

“If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant; if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome."

~Anne Bradstreet

My totals for today:

Speed: 3.5 for warm up, 4.0 for jogs/3.3 for brisk walks, 3.3 cool down
Duration: 33 minutes
Distance: 2.07 miles

Congrats on finishing another part of the running program! 25 minutes does sound scary. I'm still on week 2 myself.:sad1: Hoping to get a run in today.

All of your travel plans sound great. Trying to plan any trips around the military can be a chore. We entered the Mustang into a car show in April and it now looks like Jonas will be gone. Guess Jacob and I may be going.

Love the pictures of the beach. Seeing it on FB yesterday made me want to go today, but looks like rain off and on.

Love the beach pictures! I can't wait to go this summer! And just remember when you are doing those runs, much of it is a mental thing. If you believe you can do it you can! Good luck:goodvibes

Congrats on getting to this point in your training! :thumbsup2

Thanks for sharing the beach pictures - it looks like you guys had a great day! :cool1:

I love your quote for today! :hippie:

Wow! You're kicking butt with the C25K. :worship: I have my 1st 20 min run (probably tomorrow?) to do and I'm scared! :scared1:

Amanda

You can do it Carissa! Look how far you've come! :cheer2::cheer2:

The beach looks great.....how nice to be able to enjoy that on a regular basis. :goodvibes

GORGEOUS pictures from the beach Carissa, the weather was beautiful yesterday!!!:goodvibes Try not to freak out about running for 25 minutes straight, I know it seems overwhelming but try to purposefully think about something. For example, (this may sound corny) when I was training for the marathon in the heat of the summer, I would do 7-8 miles on the treadmill which was excruciating:scared1: I would try to do things like 1. name every state 2. Remember something from every birthday for both of my children (with 3 it will take you longer) 3. Try to name all the presidents I could remember 4. Try to remember all my teachers from elementary school There are more but you get the idea! It really helped me because I would focus so hard on those that time just flew by! Good luck, I know you can do it!!:thumbsup2
