My first ABD disappointment -- UPDATE BELOW

Just a small rant, because I know I can here. I booked our trip to Costa Rica for next March quite a long time ago (when we got home from our last ABD in August of 2012). At the time there was an AI promotion that included transfers to and from the airport from home for anyone who had been on at least 2 previous adventures. It didn't make or break the decision to book, but it was a nice little perk that made us feel good. I know that the perk has since been discontinued, but when I called just now to make my final payment, I was told that it is also no longer being honored, even though the promotion was in place when we booked. BOO, ABD.

That's it. On the sunny side, our final payment has been made and we're going to Costa Rica!

I agree with you, tracyz. That's definitely boo-worthy! I was sad they didn't offer it to me when my 2013 trip got changed, even though the offer had been available when I originally booked. (But the change wasn't really ABD's doing, it was something worked out through DU). But you actually booked during the offer period, and didn't change a thing! If they planned not to honor it this far out, they should have said something when you booked. Not honoring it at this late a date just does not seem right to me! They are the ones that allowed you to book a trip so far out! Grrrrrrr...

That said, so glad your trip to Costa Rica is coming up soon!

Sorry to hear Tracy. We had that service last year when we went to Az. Funny to have a ride waiting at Burlington Airport even though we extended our vacation by 4 days. We also have a boo for ABD cancelled our Italy trip this up coming April. BUT we found something similar with Tauck AND Tauck gave us a free pre-stay hotel room in Rome. (A $600.00 value). Not to say that ABD also lost $ 13,000.00 bucks......Hope it works out for you.

That sucks but I would't let it go that easily. It might not help but send a letter to ABD you are a loyal customer and should be treated as such. They apparently changed it to $100 off returning guest because that is what I got when I booked both my trips for next year. If they aren't honoring one they should honor the other.

I totally agree with Tozzie. Was the transfer listed in the travel documents that you signed at the time of your booking? If that promotion is no longer honored, then they should replace it with the current promotion.

We had a Lincoln Town Car on pick up and a Cadillac Esplanade (sp? I usually don't travel in such a fancy truck). We usually use a cab for that new garage is full to the brim on vacations by a lot of Quebec citizens. Hope it works out because when ABD cancelled our trip they gave us nothing...no credit towards another trip such as $100.00. We already went ahead and purchased our airfare to Europe and ABD did not want to hear anything about reimburse the cost of ticket change fees.....Good Luck.

ABD cancelled the trip on us. My TA spoke to them and they said "we shouldn't, have made the airfare reservations so far out". Luckily we got a Tauck trip in the same period.

I was on the same Italy trip, but ended up rebooking a different week with ABD. They covered the (absolutely ridiculous) change fees on our tickets without any static at all. I'm sorry to hear that you were not treated the same way!

We got the transfers last December. When I got email confirmation from the town car service, it listed this as about $90 each way that they were being paid by ABD. So if your docs itemized it and then they yanked the perk, you definitely should get some kind of discount. (I can, however, see why they quit offering this if that's what they were paying. Cab fare from our house to the airport in my small town is only about $15.) Either way, I hope you have a great trip!

ABD CONTACTED ME and made it right!! This reinforces all the reasons that my family has traveled with them multiple times, and will continue to do so. We have experienced superior service over and over. And I don't have to pay to park in the airport parking garage for this trip!

I am SO GLAD to hear that!!! I was really surprised it happened in the first place, and them making it right is more like the ABD I know and love! CONGRATS!

We are considering doing ABD in July of 2014 to Costa Ricacase we want longer trip, or think it will be cheaper on our own, any advise? DS 6 DD 7 4 adults
