I'm turning 40 in February, and my original plan was to try Universal, since I figured we would only have a couple of days. You know, I've been trying and trying to convince myself that I'd be just as happy with that as with Disney, but it hasn't been working. We were discussing it in the car today, and I mentioned Universal was my second choice. DH says, "Why are we going there, then?" And I explained about not being able to do WDW in under a week. "Well, then, why don't we go for a week?" I mentioned DS, and keeping absence to a minimum. DH points out that he did much better the year he missed a month of school because he broke his leg than he did last year, and says that he feels the educational benefits of Disney far outweigh missed class time. Since he's right about DS's performance when we're tutoring him as opposed to him learning in class, I was overjoyed. So, instead of flying down for a few days at Universal, we're driving down for a week at Disney! That will really take the sting out.

The worst part is, I've been feeling a little mopey, and now I feel great. I think I really do have a mouse addiction. Oh, well. There are worse habits I suppose... and I seem to be okay providing we go to Uncle Walt's cottage at least every 18 months.

Sounds like an excellent plan to me.

I also turn 40 this year and thats why we are going all out on our trip in October.

What a great DH! :p I'm spending my birthday at WDW too ... I figure it will take the sting out of becoming another year older.

Mortlives,

If you have never been to Universal, I say it would be a wonderful way to turn 40! Live a little, and take a couple of days to see US/IOA. We have only been to Florida once, but are planning on going back Nov/05. I can't imagine going all the way there, and not spending at least a day or 2 at the US parks. Sounds like you've been to Disney more than once, I don't think you would regret giving US a chance.

I don't think I will either, we're just delaying it a bit. Our current plan is to combine Universal with another trek to St. Augustine next summer. We'd like to save that FOTL access for when it will really mean something.

Go to Florida and not go to Disney:earseek:

That thought has never entered my head. I just couldn't be that close to my "friends" and not stop by to say hello.:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

We tell people we go because of the kids but they all know better. If my DH said let's go to Florida and Disney wasn't on the list I'd be way worse off then just mopey. I'd just leave him whereever and head off to my favourite place on earth.

Oh wait!! He's just as nuts about Disney as I am so I guess that won't ever happen. At least not for the next 50 :Pinkbounc :bounce: years.

How I love the sound of "Welcome Home".
