First let me say it was a very good experience.
For the first 60 seconds, the man behind the counter did try talking us into several add ons, we just thanked him and said no. From the time we got on line, till we walked away, the total time was 5 minutes.
When we walked across to get our Equinox, there were none left, so they told us to take a TrailBlazer.
The price was $109. for 8 days.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience. We are using Alamo this May, for the first time. I too have an Equinox reserved. You really did get a good price. I have 7 days for $122 and I thought that was good ;) What time of day and which day of the week was it when you were at the counter? We are getting in on a Saturday afternoon, so I am not going to get my hopes up for short lines.

That's great. We too had a good experience during our Feb. trip and tried to pass this information on to our disboard friends. It seems the folks at Alamo are trying to clean up their reputation. I hope it keeps up. We too were barely in line less than 10 minuted in Feb. We are using them again late April. I do miss the Executive Aisle at National, but considering the hundreds of dollars I'm saving, it's OK.

I'd also love to know which codes you used and if you combined any. I'm using the Entertainment coupon and code for $158 (inc. tax) for 9 days in May. Not a bad rate, but I keep feeling I could chip away at it still.

I just grabbed a minivan for $163 (6 days) in May. I was contemplating the Equinox, but wasn't sure how much luggage we could put in the back. Me, my wife and my two young sons will have a fair amount of gear - bags, strollers, etc. Used coupon codes from mousesavers.

Does the Equinox have good cargo capacity? I doubt I'll change it since the minivan only cost me $3 more, but I'm still on the prowl for a better price.

Also, how far is it from the SW baggage claim to the Alamo desk? My aforementioned sons plus all our gear will be a joy to lug around, I'm sure.

Rock on!

We were there about 10pm on a Wednesday night.
What we did when we got off the plane, we went directly to the Alamo counter and then went back upstairs for the luggage. I took notice, when we were finished, there were about 12 people on line. I would say going directly from the plane, saves time.

I thought the Equinox had plenty of room, but we only had 2 suitcases and 2 carry-ons.

I really don't know about SW, have never flown them. We flew Spirit this time and they are a bit of a distance from Alamo.

That is encouraging news. I was a little concerned because I read such negative things about long waits in line. Can I ask about what time you were at the counter? I am just curious if certain times of the day are busier then others. I actually reserved an Equinox for 8 days for $106. I used the walmart code (430710 BY).

That's a good idea:)

Thanks for the tip!

Can you tell me where you got the $30 coupon. I too made a SUV reservation for late August and used the same code but only a $25 coupon I got from the entertainment book. Can you point me in the right direction?

Thank you

The coupon came from the Alamo website, but it expires on 4/5.

That is such a good rate! Is that tax included?
