I was so looking forward to my first visit "home" to BLT this xmas but I am going to cancel it so my DH will have enough vacation for a three week visit to Australia instead!!

Just book our free business-class tix from San Francisco to Melbourne for next March. Whoooo!!:woohoo:

I guess it is a good alternative :yay:

Free as in mileage reward tickets. I often fly to England to visit the inlaws and have no problem with 10-11 hours in coach, but I draw the line at any more than that.

That is awesome. :cool1: Australia would be a place I would love to visit some day!!!

Hey, that's a pretty good trade off if you ask me! I'd be thrilled too!:thumbsup2

You did the right thing. You have 50 years to use BLT. We did 3 weeks at Austrailia last winter. Incredible. Make sure you do the Great Ocean Road Tour from Melbourne-it was a highlight.

Wow! What a wonderful trip! BLT will still be there when you get back! Congrats! I'd go in a heartbeat!

:yay:I'd jump at a chance to trade BLT for Australia.

BLT you can do next year and for an additional 49 years after that :thumbsup2 - a chance like you've just been given you don't know when or if it will come again.

Have a great trip. Please post pictures like Jade did. Gorgeous. I have to get a chance to see it somehow.:lmao:

This will be our second trip to Down Under. We went in 2006 for 5 weeks and still saw only half the country.

Jade, we did do the Great Ocean Road drive, and it was awesome, although we had a gray day for it. Great pics, by the way.

Last trip is was Syndey, the Blue Mountains, Cairns (Great Barrier Reef), Alice Springs, Uluru (Ayer's Rock), Coober Peddy (underground opal mining town), Adalaide, Kangaroo Island, Melbourne. In Coober Pedy, we got to deliver mail with the mail man for 12 hours and we only went to 5 houses!!!! Off road every second as well.

This trip we'll be seeing Perth, Melbourne, and a week in Tasmania. Can't wait to see a real Tasmanian Devil.

And I'll be using my points for a big family vacation in June 2010 with 7 days AKL Kidani, and 5 days Vero Beach.

How long is that flight. It is not 10-11 hours. I thought it was closer to 20. Still should be a great time.

Actually its Joel (first initial, last name..long story). That must have been great. I thought about looking up DVC points resorts while there, but never got around to it. Maybe you could stay at one and report back. You did a lot more than us-DD was in school during the week (Bond on the Gold Coast) so we only had 4 day weekends at Sydney and Melbourne. Need to go back someday. DD grads college in 3 weeks and is looking at a company that has an opening in Sydney for a few years-I said go for it.

Yea I think it was at least 16 in the air to Brisbane-quite brutal. Coming back was so rough I thought it was LOST all over again.

Joel - you take the most amazing photographs.:worship: You should work as a pro!

My family laughs at mine - I can cut the heads off of everything. The only decent pictures I've taken lately were the Headless Horseman in the MNSSHP parade. My family joked that since he was missing the part I never get into photos I had a "Head"start.:rotfl2:

Jade1, those are awesome pictures! :thumbsup2

anonymousegirl, I don't blame you. I would cancel the trip also. 3 weeks in Australia will be awesome!

Thanks guys, didn't mean to hijack but glad you all liked them. It is a place to go once before ...you know.

Have a wonderful trip!

I'd jump at the chance to go back to Austrailia and I'd love for my DH to get to go this time, he stayed home with our kids while I went with my Dad. I went in March 1999 with my Dad after my Mom passed away as they already had the trip booked. We stayed in Sydney for 4 days before going on a 14 night Austrailia/New Zealand cruise. Very beautiful countries. While in Sydney we went to the Sydney Zoo, the Opera House for a dinner & show, checked out the Rocks District, did the harbour tour, and took the subway up to the last stop in the Blue Mountains for lunch and a little shopping.

Great pics Joel!
