*~* Muggles, Welcome to the Burrow! *~*

I'm reading OOTP to my DS right now. (I've already read it twice before) I have a question. Did we ever figure out who sent the Howler to Aunt Petunia telling her that Harry was to stay put and not leave the house? Well, she and Uncle Vernon were attempting to give him the boot and the howler came and said something to the effect of, "Remember my last" or something like that. They said the voice was menacing....did we ever find out who it was from???

I thought it was Dunbledore who sent the howler?

I'm getting ready to re-read Half Blood Prince to gear up for DH. I have not revisted that book since I read it the first time, the ending devasted me so much I didn't have the heart to do it again. Hopefully I can time it just right where I a listen to HBP (doing it on CD this time rather than reading, hoping to catch more details) and finishing it within days of DH release.

Dumbledore sent the Howler. If you look at her web site in the FAQ section on Page 3 of the FAQ she answers the question "What did Dumbledore's Howler to Aunt Petunia mean? ("Remeber my last"?) She says it referrs to the last letter Dumbledore wrote to Aunt Petunia; the letter he pinned on to baby Harry when he left Harry on the Dursley's doorstep. She goes on to say that he says "remember my last" because there were other letters written to Aunt Petunia in the past before that letter. She then says "let the speculation begin." ;)

I know this is off topic, but for those who asked, I saw Equus twice while I was in London last week. It was absolutely amazing! Dan is brilliant in it. I had a seat in the 2nd row, dead center at a matinee performance and then a stage seat on Friday night. Fantastic view of what Dan does when he's not performing ;) Also went to the stage door on a different night and had the privilege of meeting Dan and getting an autograph :cloud9: He is soooo cute and very nice in person. Oh, and London, itself, was pretty cool too :)

Oh, thanks for sharing! I was wondering if you'd come tell us about it. How awesome that you got to meet Dan! What a dreamboat that kid is :teeth:

I'm re-reading the books too. I'm on PoA and I have a new favorite quote. It's in the letter that Ron writes Harry over the summer.

"Don't let the muggles get you down."

I love it. I'm not sure why, but it makes me smile.

I like that line cause it reminds me of "don't let the man get you down!" And then in the trailer for OOTP Ron does that whole power to the people fist and that gets me laughing too :rotfl:

Since we're less than two months from book 7 (!) and we've all been re-reading the books, what are you most looking forward to/hoping will be in Deathly Hallows?

For me it is:

--The Final Battle.

--What the remaining Horcruxes are. (I know I will have a huge "Duh!" moment when they are revealed as JKR has said they've all been mentioned before!)

--How Dumbledore came to possess James' invisibility cloak.

--Learning more about Harry's parents and their role in Voldemort's story (thrice defied him and all...)

--How Wormtail's lifedebt to Harry will come into play.

--Seeing Sirius again.

--Learning what happens to the survivors after Voldemort is defeated.

What about book seven are you most looking forward to?

The reason why it makes me smile is because that's something we have to deal with as Harry Potter fans and as Disney fans. Some people are very close minded like the Dursleys, they don't get it and they don't care to get it.

Exactly. Aunt Petunia knows more about the magic world than she lets on, I think. Probably due to Uncle Vernon's horror, I'm sure!

I can't wait to see her role in DH, since she is Harry's last blood relative and her house is magically protected until Harry comes of age. Also because Dumbledore seemed to threaten the Dursley's due to their mistreatment of Harry. I think that, even though she seems to hate Harry and Lily, the power of love will come into play somehow. I think she might secretly miss her sister and perhaps regrets the way she treated Lily.

:wizard: Hey friends-- there is a sweepstakes at scholastic.com to enter to win a 3 day trip to London in July for the book release. JK will be there signing books and 500 lucky people will be able to hear her read passages from the new book live. To enter you must be 21 or younger. The details are on the website. Good luck! I entered my son (trip for 2 you know;) ) If we don't win, we'll be at Barnes and Nobles midnight release.

In the past I always remember thinking it was from Dumbledore. But upon reading it this time, it really struck me when Harry referred to the voice as menacing. It just doesn't seem very Dumbledore-like to sound menacing. He's pretty good at getting his point across without that sort of behavior. It was also described as an 'awful voice'. Weird. Like I said, just didn't seem to fit in with Dumbledore and his usually very calm way.

What everyone moves on to after the war is over.

What the other horcruxes are.

More about Petunia's role.

P.S. - Do you think she'll ever publish "Hogwarts: A History"?

I hope so! But I'm not going to hold my breath.

Up-thread, you'll see a bit of discussion about a possible charity book that would be more like a Harry Potter encyclopedia where she could use all the parts that didn't make it into the books.
Click here for an article about it. And click here for a more credible article that inspired the article in the first link.

Some of you might need to update your signature countdowns! :)

Via Mugglenet-- Warner Brothers has moved the US release date of OOtP from July 14 to July 11. No reason has been given as of right now. The UK date was moved forward to July 12 from July 13 last week or so.

The official movie website is now advertising that the rebellion begins on July 11!

Now if we can just get the book's release date moved up...

I can't wait to see how Michael Goldenberg adapted the book to the screen. Steven Kloves did a good job with the first four, but it should be interesting to see another another writer's perspective.

I'm seriously looking forward to the book...but, to be honest, kinda dreading the movie. Looking back on them, I've enjoyed most of the movies (save HP3), but I'm always disappointed at crucial things they leave out, just to keep it shorter. The thing that kills me is...HP fans don't want shorter movies, they want them to accurately reflect what goes on in the books. I realize you can't do that completely, even in a 3 hour movie. But cutting the movie just because that idiotic "Grindhouse" was panned for being too long? It's like they have no clue about their audience.

I've always enjoyed the movies as well but I feel the same way. And you know what really burns me up? They always change the STUPIDEST things that could have been left alone. It's always the little things that annoy me. Like in the promos and stills I've seen for OOTP I saw that they changed the words on Harry's hand from "I will not tell lies" to "I will not break rules." ***? It was such a little thing, did they REALLY have to change it? Come on. In POA I was mad they left out the fact that the map was made by Lupin, Black, HARRY'S DAD, and Pettigrew. Why did they leave that out?? I think it was pretty relevent! If I hadn't read the book I would have been confused as to why the map was a big deal at all.

Hey you've got me on a roll now. I better stop :rotfl:

I thought that was kind of dumb, too. Especially because Lupin told Harry that he knew exactly what that map was and what it could do- and then never mentioned it again. I guess the filmmakers figured it was implied that Lupin told Harry at some point??:confused3 In the book, it was a nice little moment when Harry found out that his Dad and his friends were Mssrs. Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs- it would have been really nice to see that reveal in the film. I wish that some of the details had been left in the movies, too.
