*~* Muggles, Welcome to the Burrow! *~*

Don't go totally by the movies. Gambondore couldn't pronounce Beauxbatons correctly. :sad2: Now I would go by this website though:

That's awesome, thanks for sharing! I've totally been pronouncing Legilimency wrong this whole time :rotfl: And the last name "Lestrange" too. I've just been saying "le-strange" like the word strange but the lady pronounced it "strawnge."

:confused3

Where does she come up with these names?

So, I too am rereading the entire series. I finished Stone today and went to buy a copy of Chamber in paperback as I don't want to carry my hardbacks around. They, believe it or not, didn't have a copy in the bookstore, so I went down the street to a used book shop. Not only did I find Chamber (first paper back edition, first run) but I also found an entire set of the British editions in perfect condition. I bought them all.

If you want to hear how the words should be pronounced just listen to Jim dale in the books on tape/cd! Best narration I have ever heard.

Thanks for the great suggestions! I won't even tell you how I was prounouncing "Sirius Black" while I was reading it!!!

Wow - I'm :lmao: right now at the way I was pronouncing the words "knuts" in my mind as I read the books... You learn something new everyday!

As for the movie coming out I'm psyched... I love love love all the movies though - just as much as the books... I guess I'm a bad fan because I actually have to really think about things that have been left out of the movies!

Ohhhh, I LOVE to listen to the books on tape. I have all of them and have listened to the entire series at least a dozen times already. In fact, I'm getting ready to listen to them all again so I'm ready for the movie.

As an aside, a DF of ours is currently working on the figures for the new Harry Potter series for Neca and they look awsome! Unfortunately, I was too late to get a look at the films actual death eater masks which are also being replicated. I would have LOVED to see those.

He's finished most of the characters and is now working on Lucious Malfoy which looks great. He seemes to have captured Lucious in all of his beautiful arrogant glory. Also, the detail on the outfit is amazing. I can't wait to get a set for my office:banana:

This same friend also did some of the Neca Pirates of the Carribean figures including Elizabeth Swan and Chest Norrington. I can't tell you how thrilled we were to see his work in the Pirates of the Carribean ride exit area last year (Neca isn't the only co that holds the license though). Although his name isn't on the sculptures his work is unmistakable.

Very cool! I love Neca's stuff. As a fellow artist I appreciate the great detail they put into the works.(I wish I could sculpt like that, but my art talents and more 2-d like painting and drawing...I try and try, but hate everything I sculpt.)

Jim Dale is the best! I love listening to the audiobooks because I always catch things I didn't catch while reading. And it makes the commute much faster! I'm really excited that the DH audiobook is being released the same day as the book.

Sirius-- how lucky that you found a complete British set! You must let us know about any glaring differences between the UK and US versions. I've only read the UK edition of Philosopher's Stone.

I have watched the new trailer 10 times already. I am really looking forward to the "Harry Potter" summer.

I have a question: I the trailer, Dumbledore tells Harry he can't win. I am trying to remember that part of OOTP, but I am drawing a blank. I will try to read the book again before the movie comes out.

Can someone help me out?

To me, I thought possibly he was referring to Fudge. When he leaves his office after knocking everyone except Harry, McGonagall, and Marietta out. He may be telling him not to fight Fudge, he cannot win, and he wants Harry to stay in Hogwarts. I didn't reread that part, but even if it is not in there, I would think that would probably be where that is. Otherwise, they took a totally different direction with the movie! :)

I wanted to go to the midnight book release, but then I heard the stories about last time, where some fool at at least one bookstore got his book, went to the last chapter and yelled out "snape kills dumbledore!"

I can't believe he was not throttled by the crowd. I just don't want to know until I read. So starting June 1st, no more Mugglenet, no more Leaky Cauldron, and no more of these threads for me. :upsidedow I wish to remain blissfully ignorant.

I wanted to go to the movie on the 13th, but I am worried about going there and hearing something rumorish.

I am dressing as a Ravenclaw for MNSSHP. Have my skirt, shirt, and tie, and a very talented lady from Georgia is making my robe. :thumbsup2

There is a video clip floating around out there of some guy walking by fans lined up for the midnight release of HBP. The guy yells out something along the lines of "Dumbledore dies!" and some dad (or older HP fan) jumped out of line and began to chase (and presumably pummel?) the guy.

This was sent to me via a YouTube link awhile ago but for the life of me I can't find it again. It may have been removed or have a really obscure tag.

I will also be avoiding all possible spoiler sources from about a month out. Libraries and bookstores are getting the books in time for the July 21 release and security is high! I'm a librarian and my branch manager actually had to sign a confidentiality agreement! My manager will not actually handle any of the books as all our processing and technical services are handled at the main branch but Scholastic is not taking any chances! Only a handful of people in our system will actually be handling the books before the date and other employees will not even be allowed in the same room!

Hi HP folks! You guys kinda intimidate me with the extent of your knowledge, but I just wanted to introduce myself. :wave2:

I read the entire series in 2 weeks last summer, so needless to say, I didn't retain a lot of information. I am going to re-read the series again so maybe soon I'll remember what the heck you guys are talking about.

Ok I just read book 5 and 6, and the first tought of a young snape as this, but I'm used to regular snape from the movies.

That is awesome! I would also love to hear how Equus was! Have a great time!

I LOOOOVE Alan Rickman. By the way, did you know he is 60? and that his distinctive voice comes from some sort of defect in his jaw (it stayed clenched) that he had operated on as a child, but he never lost the distinctive way of speaking?

I was reading on all the actors and those 2 facts kind of stuck with me. :)

I'm a big Alan Rickman fan as well. I love his voice! He could read the tax code out loud and I'd listen for hours!

Alan Rickman looks exactly like I pictured Snape as I read the books. In my mind's eye, I've always pictured young Snape like that loner kid we all knew in school. You know, the one with dirty hair, acne, the "wrong" clothes (and possibly a long black coat), a slight attitude believing himself to be superior to the masses, and no friends even though people tried to be nice to him. We all knew that type of kid, right? I think that kid is universal. I like that JKR shows how a rotten childhood and school experience really affected adult Snape. True, many people with rotten youth experiences grow up to be happy adults but many don't. Yes, Snape serves a plot purpose, but I have to wonder if JKR knows somebody like this or even experienced something similar herself. To me, Snape is one of the easiest characters to relate to and not because I shared his experience but because I know people who did and I saw how it affected them.

I still can't decide if he's good or bad, though!
