*~* Muggles, Welcome to the Burrow! *~*

Well I've posted here before that I love Alan Rickman as Snape... As I read and re-read the books I can hear him saying Snapes words... Sick, huh?

As far as the picture of Young Snape above - all I can think is "He looks like Ben Stiller in Zoolander!?!?!" Anyone else think so?

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Very much so!

Now when I see the movie, I am going to think of the "look" What was it? Blue Ice?

Ok I just read book 5 and 6, and the first tought of a young snape as this, but I'm used to regular snape from the movies.

Which do YOU prefer?

The picture on the left, isn't that a picture of "Chris Gaines" (aka Garth Brooks)???

Too true! :rotfl2: Next thing you know he'll be opening the "Severus Snape school for kids who can't read good."

Yes, it is. I looked at the pic and kept thinking, well, they aren't going to have GARTH BROOKS play Young Snape!!! Number 1, he's American, and number 2, he's way too old!!:rotfl: :rotfl: Although, it would be an, ahem, "interesting" casting choice...

Okay - so now I'm rereading HBP - and I'm wondering what have you all heard on any theory that Harry's and/or Voldemort's wands might be horcruxes? I guess I started thinking about this more when the cover art for DH was released and it shows Harry without his wand...

I'm wondering if Harry's wand could have been the that belonged to one of his parents... (Afterall, what happens to the wand that a character uses when they die?)

I don't think the wands are horcruxes. Harry was "marked" as V's equal and I think their wands that shared a feather from the same source was just another indication of that. Ollivander says that wands "choose" their owners so it seems natural that V's opposite got that particular wand. Plus, as seen in GoF, the Priori Incantatum effect pretty much renders either wand useless against the other. That is why I think Harry is shown without his wand-- he knows it might not do much good.

I believe Ollivander describes Harry's parent's wands in SS and Harry's current wand is definitely not one that belonged to his parents.

The only wand-as-horcrux theory I have heard is that Ravenclaw's wand *might* be a horcrux. However, we have not seen any proof that her wand is still around or that V was able to track it down.

I don't know what happens to wands when the owner dies. Ron and Neville have both purchased replacement wands (Neville as one of Ollivander's last customers before he vanished) so we do know it is possible for a wizard to own more than one wand. However, we do not know if it is possible for a wand to work well for more than one owner. Ron's first wand was a hand-me-down from an older brother but did not work well, especially after it broke. I think it would be a nice touch if Harry did obtain his parent's wands and used them against V. Or if he was able to use V's own wand (Harry's wand's "brother") against him.

Ollivander the wand maker is missing...perhaps wands will be a plot point in DH. Two months and we will find out!

Has anybody heard about JK having written an eighth book?? My mom said one of the NYC news stations had a segment on this morning saying that JK had written (albeit somewhat begrudgingly) an eighth book. I can't find any corraborating info on this. Is she insane??

Its sorta like a history of hogwarts thing. its not book 8 in the harry potter series.
At least thats what I heard.

I agree. From what we do know about Horcruxes, it doesn't sound like a wand would be a good choice.

You are correct. The only part I remember about the descriptions was that Ollivander said Lily's wand was 'good for charms."

The only thing I remember reading about what happens to the want when the wizard dies is a bit of a song that Slughorn was singing at Hagrid's cabin after the funeral of Aragog, the giant spider. It has a line about the wizard's hat being turned inside out and the wand broken in 2.

I heard she was planning on writing some more books similar to Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them and Quidditch Through The Ages which she donated the proceeds to charity.

From what I have read: http://www.cinematical.com/2007/05/14/j-k-rowling-talks-possible-eighth-harry-potter-book/
...the author has suggested that she might indeed write an eighth book which will serve as a sort of Harry Potter encyclopedia...Says Rowling, "I might do an eighth book for charity, a kind of encyclopedia of the world so that I could use all the extra material that's not in the books...

I'd buy it!

Anyone else catch the HP preview on Ellen today? Dolores Umbridge is REALLY annoying in it. She even does the clearing the throat thing and a little giggle. My DS7 saw it and said she seemed creepy!

And I actually thought that picture was of Ben Stiller in Zoolander!

JKR has said over and over that Harry's story will be limited to the seven years/seven books. The ending has been planned since the start.

If she is writing more, I really want to read Hogwarts, A History, (especially if it is updated to include the Boy Who Lived and his years at Hogwarts!) If not, a Harry Potter encyclopedia with lots of extra material and whatnot would be good too. Some extra stuff that didn't make it into the books is posted on her website and it is quite interesting.

I know this is off topic, but for those who asked, I saw Equus twice while I was in London last week. It was absolutely amazing! Dan is brilliant in it. I had a seat in the 2nd row, dead center at a matinee performance and then a stage seat on Friday night. Fantastic view of what Dan does when he's not performing ;) Also went to the stage door on a different night and had the privilege of meeting Dan and getting an autograph :cloud9: He is soooo cute and very nice in person. Oh, and London, itself, was pretty cool too :)

Wow, that is awesome! I can't believe you met Dan!

Thanks for letting us know how Equus was!

I'm re-reading the books now so I'm good and ready for book seven! I'm amazed at little things I'm picking up on the re-read. For example in Sorcerer's Stone Harry states "it's almost as if Snape can read his mind." Well, we all know that's true now! Interesting!

So jealous you were able to meet Dan! How fun! Is he short?

I'm re-reading the books too. I'm on PoA and I have a new favorite quote. It's in the letter that Ron writes Harry over the summer.

"Don't let the muggles get you down."

I love it. I'm not sure why, but it makes me smile.
