*~* Muggles, Welcome to the Burrow! *~*

All of this theorizing keeps leading us back to Charlie, which ever dragon it is. I wonder if that means we are going to be going to Egypt? There has to be a reason Hermoine is taking ancient ruins. Dumbledore himself said we don't know what Voldermort was up to most of the time after he left Hogwarts. I don't know if I think they will find a horcrux there but maybe they will find out how to destroy them. I think maybe Snape will finally be our eyes and ears so to speak on what is going on behind the doors with Voldermort. All this time Harry (we) have been left out of all the "important conversations" that take place with Snape's reports. I think that Harry is going to have to over come his hate for Snape even if Snape isn't capable of getting over his hate for Harry and accept his help in defeating Voldermort.

Charlie Weasley lives in Romania - it was Bill Weasley that worked in Egypt as a curse breaker, and he has now moved back to London. However, I do think that Harry should consult with Bill about destroying the horcruxes, because Bill is a professional curse-breaker after all.

I'm rereading the series (for about the tenth time) to get ready for DH, and while reading about Harry's vault in Gringott's I began to wonder about something:

Where exactly did Harry's parents get all of that money that they left Harry?

From the way it's talked about, it is an abnormally large amount of gold, and though it doesn't say what they did for a living, I never got the impression that they were particularly well off.

Where did it come from? Is it just from their salaries? Is it an inheritence? Stolen? Any insight?

I think the Ancient Runes course that Hermione is taking is the study of ancient Norse mythological symbols, like this one:

JKR has said that it is an inheritance from James' very wealthy parents.

Doesn't it seem weird that Harry has never asked (or if he did ask off-screen, mentioned to others) about what his parents did for a living? I think it's weird that he seems to know very little about them.

She has purposely kept James and Lily's careers a secret and I think we will learn more about this in the last book. A very popular theory is that they were Unspeakables working in the Department of Mysteries. If this is true, it would be more reason for Voldemort to be after them. Both Slughorn and Ollivander have mentioned Lily's talents as a witch and that could be foreshadowing for her as-yet-unknown job.

The Room of Requirement at jkrowling.com is open! There is a new W.O.M.B.A.T. test.

Mugglenet.com has hints on how to open the door...

I took the third part of the W.O.M.B.A.T. today. I tell you she was not kidding around with this one there were some tough questions.

I agree I think that at least Lilly was an unspeakable. I see James more as an auror though.

I also agree that Lily was an unspeakable. James, however, I am thinking invented things for Zonko's.

In one of the books, Sirius mentions that James made a nose-biting teacup. Elsewhere in the books, it is mentioned that Zonko's sells Nose-biting teacups. I also thought it would be a nice irony that Harry was the main investor in a joke shop. And if James was wealthy through an inheritance, and did not NEED to work, he would do something off the wall like that for fun. He seemed to be pretty talented from what we have heard of him, and the same seems to be true of Fred and George...even Hermoine is impressed with their hats. :)

The symbol on the UK cover of book seven is the same symbol needed to access the W.O.M.B.A.T. test!

Here is a picture of the cover and the symbol is at the top of the spine. The triangle, circle, and stick.

I have no idea what this could mean, but obviously JKR wanted to call attention to it. Maybe it has something to do with Ancient Runes or horcruxes?

I belong to a Harry Potter book club at our local Barnes & Noble. We've been discussing this. It's the alchemy symbol but the one on the UK cover is incomplete. This is actually our topic of discussion at our meeting this Friday (and not just because of the WOMBAT--we've had this scheduled for a month already!) Anyway, we're supposed to be researching alchemy but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

Take a look half way down the page if this works this is all I could find.

uroborus-un.jpg

UROBORUS: The "circular" (see earlier symbol) serpent biting its own tail represents eternity and the cycles or "circle of life." Medieval alchemists linked it to the cyclical processes in nature. The uroborus pictured here (encircling the UN symbol for humanity seen inside a "triangle" (see above) was the official symbol on for the 1996 United Nations Conference on Human Settlements pictured on all its literature.

circle.gif

CIRCLE (sacred hoop, ring): An ancient and universal symbol of unity, wholeness, infinity, the goddess, and female power. To earth-centered religions throughout history as well as to many contemporary pagans, it represents the feminine spirit or force, the cosmos or a spiritualized Mother Earth, and a sacred space. (See next item) Gnostic traditions linked the unbroken circle to the "world serpent" forming a circle as it eats its own tail.

serpent.jpg

SERPENTOR SNAKE:Most earth-centered or pagan cultures worshipped the serpent. It represents rebirth (because of its molting), protection against evil, either male of female sexuality, rain and fertility, a mediator between the physical and spiritual world.... The list is endless, but in the Bible it usually represents sin, temptation, destruction, and Satan. (See "dragon") The circular image of the serpent biting its tail links the mythical significance of the serpent to that of the sacred "circle." See "uroborus."

dragon.jpg

DRAGON: A mythical monster made up of many animals: serpent, lizard, bird, lion... It may have many heads and breath fire. To mediaeval Europe, it was dangerous and evil, but people in Eastern Asia believe it has power to help them against more hostile spiritual forces. In the Bible it represents Satan, the devil.

I can see the connections from the above information & the HP series!

OhMyGosh!!! I can't believe it is less than 3 weeks until the movie comes out!!!!!!!!!

I think I am taking the day off work so I can go on the 11th. I can't wait!

I'm re-reading (at a pace that I'm determined will have me finishing up book 6 on July 20th ;) ) and I've made a decision to do something really wierd with Deathly Hollows.

Right after I get my hands on a copy, I'm going to give the book to DH (who doesn't read HP) and have him flip through to each chapter and put a big fat Post It note over the little illustration above the chapter title.

Too many times in the previous books, a surprise has been ruined for me because the illustration gives away what is going to happen in each chapter. The worst was the little pic of Snape at the beginning of the chapter where the HBP's identity was revealed. I saw that pic, and knew immediately who it was. I was like "CRAAAAP!!!"

I want to be knocked-on-my-butt surprised with Deathly Hollows.

One more thing....I just saw that the HBP movie will be released on 11/21/08. That's going to be a tough one to get through. :sad1:
