Motion Sickness for Mission: SPACE?

My son thinks I'll get sick riding Mission: SPACE in Epcot so eventhough we'll be at Epcot 2 days, we only got FP+ for one day.

Anyone else got sick riding Mission? I normally have no problem with rides (the only time I got sick on ride was at Knotts in CA when one ride had us upside down too long before letting us off).

I read about motion sickness for other rides but haven't seen anything about Mission: SPACE.

Is there anything that helps with motion sickness? Some people say ginger?

Thank you

If you're concerned about motion sickness, they sell good dope that you can take each morning before heading to the parks.

Still don't want to try Orange, thought Green was bad enough. We only did MS once (green). I don't barf easily but might do on Orange. I think star tours is milder than MS Green, we like star tours and have been on that a lot.

LOL! Which brand do you recommend? When I did cruise, I did patch and it worked but I don't think I'll get patch for this trip.

I'm susceptible to motion sickness as well. I would suggest contacting your physician to get a prescription for something that won't make you drowsy. Don't have a brand for you, though there are over the counter you can buy that work pretty well. I'd suggest consulting with a pharmacist.

How bad is star tours then if MS green is gentler?

Star Tours isn't that bad, but it is jerkier than MS. The range of motion of the entire theater is greater vs. just your individual space pod. MS really just swings you inward so you feel pushed against your seat (static) and then shakes. I find it milder than Star Tours.

I had never gotten sick on a ride before. I sometimes get motion sickness on a plane if the turbulence is a lot, but not usually. Mission Space did me in. I made it off the ride, but a few minutes later, I was not OK! Felt bad the rest of the day.

I have horrible motion sickness.. Planes, boats, everything.. And this ride did not make me sick.. Shockingly what got me was the feeling of claustrophobia... It was horrible. Went on it once and never again

I can't ride Mission Space because I get pretty bad motion sickness on certain rides and don't want to risk it, but I've been there with several friends (while I took the chicken exit!). Even some of my friends who considered themselves seasoned at rides like this were a little thrown by it. There are benches at the exit to sit on when leaving and there's even a door that leads directly to backstage/fresh air that I've seen people have to use. That said, this is definitely not typical for everyone. Maybe start with Green and move up to Orange if you're feeling strong?

I usually use Less Drowsy Dramamine and take one every morning that I'm going to the parks just to be safe. It doesn't make me tired at all and knowing that I took it gives me a little more courage in riding. It lasts for 24 hours, so it will take you through a whole day with only one small pill.

Good luck!!

It is bad enough they took half the ride and reset it as "non-spin" because so many people were getting sick. I avoided it for years based on what I was told but finally I tried it. Awful, day almost ruined. I ride everything else at Disney, even the spinning rides. I'll never get on it again, too much to lose if my day is ruined.

My family wants to ride the "real" side, so they do. I could go ride the "fake" side but honestly what's the point.

PS I am pretty sure there are puke bags in the ride ... I know of no other that provides those.

My husband got sick on this one, we went to Universal after disney and my favourite ride was the Harry Potter ride in the castle...I wanted to go again and again but he could only go once as he was sick for two days

My husband gets motion sickness and he loved the green side. He had no problem at all. I will admit that I get a little claustrophobic on it....but still enjoy the ride.

Between the potential motion sickness and claustrophobia, I skip the ride altogether. I did the orange side years ago, I didn't get sick but I felt a little "off" for a couple of hours. Spend the time doing something more interesting.

I was scared of it and refused to ride it for years until my DD begged me to ride it with her and DH. To my surprise I really enjoyed it. To me it felt very similar to Star Tours which I really enjoy. The green side did not bother me at all. No way would I try the orange side. I can't do the teacups (well unless I get one all to myself away from DH and DD and make sure it does not really spin- and even then I can't watch the others that much as I ride or I still get queasy).

Haven't tried Green, but did the Orange side recently and oh man, NEVER AGAIN. I don't have a lot of trouble with motion sickness but this really kicked my butt. I had to sit down and put my head down for about 20 min after we rode.

I love the concept of this ride, and I would consider doing Green in the future, but I will never set foot in Orange again, especially now that I've read about what is actually happening on the ride. (The Gravitron-esque spinning!) There are literally airsick bags available inside the ride! And for good reason!

There are in fact "air sickness bags" in the ride, even on Green Team. I like to point them out to first-timers!
