My impression of the Republican "Leadership""

"Waaaaahhhh!!! You guys are playing by the same rules we did when you said you wouldn't!!! You big bullies!!!"

:teeth: Granted, I expect my party to be better than that...but I'm hardly about to shed a tear for the poor Republicans after the stuff they tried to pull in the last 6 years. :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

What was that we were told over and over? Something like, "We won, you lost...deal with it?" :thumbsup2

No matter how fleeting, don't you just love being on this side of the debate for a change? :teeth:

Why you would almost think they are behaving the same way they accused us of behaving in 2000 ;) . They would never do a hypocritical thing like that, would they? :rotfl2:

Yeah, but I thought you guys were different. ;) You know, above all that stuff. :p :teeth:

Like I said...I'd like to think we were. But this is kind of like getting a big promotion where suddenly your old boss - the guy that used to lord his position over his underlings and constantly abuse his power - suddenly works for you. No matter how high-minded you are...there's gonna be a temptation there to rub his nose in it, just a little. :teeth:

Again, just for the record...I am NOT in favor of supressing minority rights in congress. Too much power in the hands of one party leads to problems, every time and completely regardless of the "good intentions" of the party in question. Just because 50.000001% of the populace agrees with your position, that's no reason to completely ignore the other 49.999999%.

But like I said...I ain't'a gonna shed a tear for the poor wittle wepublicans at the moment. ;)

I don't think it's a matter of "being above it". It's to what degree do you take it. That's the issue. If anyone believes the leadership of either party is squeaky clean and welcoming of the minority party, they are delusional. I personally believe, however, that the Republicans brought it to new heights. Let's hope the Dems can tone it down a notch. I'll be happy with that.

I agree with you (well, aside from the 'wepublicans' wisecrack ;) )

The way to be included is not to kick someone in the head first. Congressional Republicans, particularly the House Republicans, did nothing but go after Nancy Pelosi for everything, real or imagined, from day 1.

Where I come from, when someone accuses you of everything they can twist into something, they don't get an invite to my house. They get told to get the hell off my property.

The Congressional Republicans had years to do whatever it was they wanted to do. If they had all these wonderful ideas, they should've used them when they could. They didn't. They used their years in power to line their pockets, rubberstamp everything Bush wanted, never questioned anything, never performed their oversight duties, never brought anything to the floor that wasn't going to be accepted, and completely shut down any debate.

The Congressional Republicans had their chance and they blew it. The Congressional Republicans can sit down, shut up, and get the hell out of the way of what the people voted for last November. And it wasn't for the Republican agenda.

When the Republicans look to change the rules, the "very fabric of the Constitution is at stake." Glad this is not the case when the Dems look to change the rules.

At least you admit it, but dont worry we will keep on eye on them if they ever take control again.:lmao:

Last summer you posted something on one of the many political threads that were flying around at the time and it was about this very issue. You said something to the affect (forgive me if I butcher it) that Republicans in power at the time forget that the people they kicked in the head on the way up, are the same ones they're going to meet on the way down. In retrospect, no truer words were spoken.

I can't shed too many tears for what has happened, even though I don't agree with it. What has happened is a good lesson for all who enter into politics and are in the majority at the current or present time. Hell, it's good lesson for all us that can be used in real life.

Me too!:cool1:

Really, at first the whining was kind of fun to listen to. Now it's just annoying.

We all know what payback is, don't we?:lmao:

Just a wild guess, but perhaps that statement was said because GWB and Co. wanted to actually ammend the Constitution?
Is Nancy Pelosi going to change the Constitution, or did I miss something?

We'll see what happens the next time the deck chairs are changed around. :rolleyes1

Look, the Republicans had their chance and screwed it up royal. I don't look for them to get control back anytime soon.

For now, as you told us when shrub won the election..get over it.

As if the Dems, can't screw up. :lmao:

Who is this "schrub" you speak of? :snooty:

"Shrub" or "schrub" is a term for your president. I call him the worst sack of crap to ever foul up the Oval Office. YMMV.
