More hypocracy.

Outrage from the left? They're still trying to get over the Gore/Bush election. Give 'em a few years and they may get around to this.

I blame that on Bill Clinton. Oh wait, I'm sorry. Thats the motto of the Republican party.

So how do you explain the absence of any reporting on the story by any of the MSM outlets?

a. It didn't happen. Drudge, as well as the Republicans are lying about the facts.

b. It did happen. But who cares. It's only newsworthy when the Republicans threaten to change longstanding Congressional procedures for political purposes. (The Nuclear Option)

And for the record, don't count me among the outraged, that the Dems would try to do this. Politics ain't beanbags and it's not for the faint of heart, or for those who think it's all about high-minded fairness.

My complaint is with the news media's obviously disparate treatment.

My guess is it didn't make it because nothing came of it. The Dem's withdrew the change and so where's the story?

Gee, wonder why sludge didn't report that? Disparate treatment indeed.

The Reps withdrew the Nuclear Option too. But pages and pages of ink spilled were spilled because they threatened to use it. And when the Dems shut down the Senate last year, there was plenty of coverage given to that too.

Speaker Pelosi withdrew the change today, but she stated she'd try again after Memorial Day. It's a rule that the House has had in effect for 185 years.

And that doesn't even merit a mention, in the MSM?

Rush teased this story in the last three minutes of his broadcast today.

It speaks volumes when the only two sources of a story are Drudge and Rush.

Fox News should be having a field day. Interesting that they aren't too worked up over there, isn't it? Could it be because it's a whole lot of nothing, or is Fox part of the big bad liberal media now? :rotfl:

That is not the way I understand it.

The way I see it is that REPUBLICANS "expected" Pelosi to make the change, that is a big difference from it actually being presented. You cant withdraw something that was not presented.

And even if the rules had been around for 200 years, if the rule needs to be changed it needs to be changed. IMO if a bill being introduced will expend BILLIONS it is not a bad thing for that bill to set how it would be paid for, but I guess since the Dems are proposing this it must be a bad thing:rolleyes:

Well, the Republican majority never used the nucular option but it was sure all over the news.

Huh??

Or anywhere else for that matter. Could it be because it's a whole lot of nothing and not newsworthy? Even faux news doesn't care.

Btw..Do you find it odd that sludge runs the story as a headline, but when the Dems back off there's not a hint about it on his site? Why is that?

This one is a real sleeper, but you guys knock yourselves out over it if you want.

How do you know the Dems backed off?

What you are missing is that DRUDGE nor anyone in this thread have gone into the details of what the "alleged" rule change would have entailed.

They dont care, all they want to do is shout that the "DEMS were going to change a 200 year old rule", but they ignore the details of the rule change cuz then some might realize that the change might not be as bad as they claim.

Tiz easier to just yell "treason!".

I'm not missing the details at all. There's plenty of information about it at several reputable and non-partisan websites, but I can't link to them because they're subscription only. I understand exactly what the Dems were proposing and IMO, it would be a bad thing.

But most people don't have the option of understanding, or of deciding whether it's a good thing, or a bad thing. Because the MSM has decided not to report it. To me, that's a bad thing, no matter what you think of the proposed change.

Isn't this an interesting twist.

My goodness. This is sillier than the alligator-alien abduction stories.

Newsflash: Drudge is no longer developing. The monumental, earthshaking, universe rending possible change to "Motion to Recommit or the test of germaneness on the motion to recommit" disappeared from Drudge's site.

Maybe it'll come back, so let's pass the time by discussing events that really made a difference to my life ............ last night's dinner.

I made a fabulous "Linguine al Pesto" with my homegrown basil. I harvested the basil yesterday. I then made the pesto in the food processor with the proper amount of extra-virgin olive oil, plenty of garlic, salt and pepper.

I used one cup of the pesto, added 1 cup of Parmagiano-Reggiano cheese and tossed it with 18 oz of linquine, imported, of course.

I served the pesto with a salad of mixed baby greens, and a bottle of Rosemont Estates Petit Shiraz which had the added effect of calming me down from the possible change to the "Motion to Recommit or the test of germaneness on the motion to recommit".

It was just a fabulous meal.

Let me check Drudge again: Nothing.

I had oatmeal for breakfast. :lmao:
