More FastPass+ Testing Coming This Month

There are 4 of us going to Ak Kidani 2 Bedroom Savanah View in FEB (booked at 7 months) :cheer2:

I assume we can book 4 per person per day ?
Are you DVC? I'm assuming you are by "booked at seven months".

I doubt, Disney will "give away" the new passes. Personally, I believe XPass should be a ticket "option". And, as a DVC owner, I'm hoping so.

I don't get all the negativity.

We don't have any concrete information. People are deciding how they think it may work, then complaining about THEIR idea.

Why don't you wait til you have some actual information before complaining?

:thumbsup2

you don't KNOW these things.

translates to

"i've come up with the way i THINK the system will work, and how well it will work based off the numbers i have THOUGHT up."

Amazingly enough, Disney employs people to come up with new ideas, they don't just randomly come together and these people KNOW how it will work, they KNOW figures for attendence ride occupancy, etc.

Pretty much, people come out with their own theories, their own numbers and then supporting team :cheer2:cross reference each other as some sort of fact.

I can see some value in conjecture and discussion - after all, if we propose what might happen and the Disney Suits come on here and read our very negative reactions to those possibilities (or our positive reactions!) it could help shape what happens.

Disney doesn't employ fools - they would be reading blogs and message boards to test the climate. So guess away!

Me personally, I would never, ever want to pick which park I had to go to on a certain day. I make a plan, but it often changes; I'd hate to be forced to figure out when I was going to go where and be unable to change it.

Oh, and chalk me up as another Robo supporter - all I ever see are helpful and well-thought-out posts from Robo!

And they'll likely be taken almost immediately on the first day of booking availability, effectively locking out those who don't necessarily want to reserve a ride time weeks or months in advance.

Just like the popular restaurants then. Second verse is the same as the first...

By the very nature of the system they won't be able to be very flexible. You'll likely have a window, and the afternoon/evening spots will be the first taken. I'm sure they will overbook simply because they will assume "x" number of no-shows, but the rate limiting factor is ride capacity, therefore they can't let everyone choose whatever time they want.

That's precisely my point. Everyone looks at this thinking "This is gonna be awesome. I can now schedule TSMM for the afternoon and can finally sleep in on my DHS day". But the capacity cannot be changed. Those afternoon slots are limited and will be in very high demand.

I will say it's going to be fascnating to see it all play out.

It makes VIP experiences more obscured -- if someone were to bestow an RFID ticket with "All day - any ride" FPs, they'd be able to walk up to any ride any time and just zip right into the FP line without looking out of the ordinary...

They also come up with ideas like Avatarland, the Test Track singers, and cutting evening EMH. :)

Those repeat cruisers on DCL can reserve excursions and set dining preferences farther out than first-time cruisers.

I wonder if WDW will reward loyalty with a tiered ride reservation system?

It appears, the parks have a different target group.

It's new, therefore it must be better! Plus it has "Plus" in the name!

(Application of critical thinking skills discouraged.)

I can only speak from my experience from first test. I was one of lucky souls to test it but didn't get to use it to it's fullest.
1. I wasn't the one who was receiver/chosen one ( bff and niece were and scored for all of us).
2. Bff didn't get explained to how it worked fully
3. we only got to use 1 of 4 chosen rides d/t not finding out how to's until later in day.

In Disney's defense:
I shoulda read back of card when I got to resort, it was explained somewhat
if I'd logged on computer or went to computer check station to get times I would have known we had to use at certain times that day.

What friend told me was:
she could choose 2 rides from list a and 2 rides from list b.

I didn't notice any impact on FP lines during trip other than DH being cut off and not being let in line because "time" had expired ( A Cm "fixed" this for me)

They also come up with ideas like Avatarland, the Test Track singers, and cutting evening EMH. :)

And? I love idea of Avatarland, not everything should be about princesses, never heard of TT singers :confused3 and can uderstand 3rd hour cut. Point is, what you may see as a failure, others may see as a success. And only Disney knows statistics, handful of people complaining hardly represents anything.

I confess - I only read about 1/2 of this thread so I may have missed something. We will be there from August 12-21 and will be using DME but since we're arriving prior to this next test day of August 14th I'm assuming we'll not get selected to participate. (Waaaaa!!!)

I just want to know if it's going to cost extra and WHEN these reservations have to be made. I will NOT be happy (notice this is in all caps and bold) if these reservations have to be done prior to the day of going to a given park. I already hate having to make ADR's 6 months out. Even 6 weeks out. I wish I could just eat wherever I wanted whenever I decide I want to eat. It's bad enough if I want to eat dinner at Via Napoli I have to plan my whole day around being in Epcot by a certain time. DH hates how ADR's interrupt our days. Sometimes we just like to "wing it" and I'm afraid this new FP+ or Next Gen or whatever will just further inhibit our ability to be spontaneous with our days. Likewise I also hate flying on SW because of the check-in at 24 hours if you want a good boarding number thing. This sounds like it has the potential to be the same thing - we may have to sign up or register or login at exactly 24 hours ahead of when we want to ride or some such crazy stressful nonsense. :crazy2: I just wish there were more details available...

so 2 things that haven't happened yet, so you don't know how they will work, what effect they will have. And a small in park entertainment group.

This is your example of all the terrible ideas they come up with?

I'm not complaining. I like the idea of the new system. I'll be first to book my reservations and I'm perfectly willing to pay extra for the privilege. I actually hope it's deluxe guests only. A lot of people don't feel that way. That's why I'm skeptical.

Avatarland is a reach, in my opinion. It's already a forgettable property and two more movies probably won't make it much better.

No, the list is certainly much longer than that, but I was being lighthearted, not attempting to give an analysis. Confidence that it will be figured out for the best might be misplaced. They definitely don't come close to getting everything right, and I'm a huge fan of Disney and most of what they do.

I remain skeptical that the new system will be a huge improvement for most park guests.

Today, guest does not know all stories behind attractions, yet enjoys them. Avatarland may not bring new guests or Avatar fans if they even exist but as attraction it may be very cool, it will make guest excited, all that is needed.

As for new system, I am excited about not running for FPs, how it will actually change things nobody knows. I think it is a bit early to be upset and honestly, all this speculation about how bad it will be, without any data, is getting really old. It relly does not help anyone and only creates negativity.

No one knows what the criteria are. Doubtful anyone will be contacted more than a few days prior.
