More FastPass+ Testing Coming This Month

I think it could make me less likely to purchase park hopper passes though.

I was thinking it would make me more likely to get park hoppers.

After a day in AK now we usually hit DTD or pool, if I could instead know I could pop over to the MK and hit 4 of my favorite rides in short order that would be awesome. (I think I would prefer to do that instead of use them at AK).

That's very close to what we do now.

And we don't need FP for HM and seldom get them for Jungle Cruise or even Splash near noontime.
That means (in my feeble example) that only one (maybe two) of your total of 4 FP's
would be really very useful, considering how the MK operates now.

I think useful may be a matter of perspective. If you do that tour now, and don't mind the 20-30 minute waits, believing fast passes are best used for 1hr+ waits, I get your point. But if you had two families and each followed the same tour and 1 had fastpasses to 2-3 rides the other didn't think they needed them for the one with the passes shaving 15 to 20 minutes on each of those could end up with an extra hour of time in the parks to see and do stuff.

Or put another way, maybe 2-3 b-list fp will net save as much time as a single a-list fp over the course of your day.

But, the really big benefit is for the guest who arrives late morning/early afternoon.
Which is to say: "Most guests."

DISers are savvy. We are more likely to know the ins and outs, and know the importance of rope drop. This system removes some of that advantage, and lessens the penalty for people who show up later. But, again, that's what most people do---that's why the morning strategy works the way it does---and so *on balance* Disney is likely to have happier guests.

Seems like a pretty darn good idea from the company's perspective.

I've never seen anybody else suggest this, and I think it's an awesome idea. This might be the first power-traveler strategy for FP+. Don't use all of your entitlements at one park (if any at all); instead use them for popular attractions at another park and head over there in the afternoon or evening and bypass the lines.

I guess it sort of depends on how the system is set up and how flexible they are with your appointment times.

It seems to me that everyone, rope droppers and late sleepers alike, would prefer to have afternoon FP times. Just because I'm there at rope drop doesn't mean I'd want to use my appointment times then. I'd prefer to take advantage of short AM lines, then use my appointments in the afternoon when lines are longer. Which also happens to be when the late sleepers might want their times. But SOMEONE is going to have to take the less popular times.

I could get on board with this if they were flexible. If I could get 4 fp's to use any time I wanted - that would be great. I love to plan, but I also like to take a few things as they come while on vacation. My life is over scheduled. I really don't want my Disney vaca over scheduled.

Of course I could opt out, but I would have to live with the knowing that I could be in that fp line if I had scheduled my Soarin' ride. Yuck!

Nobody arrives midday! Everyone knows its too crowded!

(doing my best Yogi Berra)

okay I have heard of this before, but have been been keeping up.

So bear with me to see if I understand how this might work.

We don't know when it will actually start.

There may or may not be a cost involved.

Do we know how far in advanced we must book ?

There are 4 of us going to Ak Kidani 2 Bedroom Savanah View in FEB (booked at 7 months) :cheer2:

I assume we can book 4 per person per day ?

I also assume for example, I get 4 to TOT, only the kids ride that, so can they use there 2 and then the two I booked for my DW and I ?
or are they linked to a name or ticket ?

That's a good question. I would expect them to be coded into the RFID chip on your card, but don't know why you couldn't use your child's card to enter. It's not like you can just send the 2 kids off to do a kids ride on their own later (depending on age).

I don't get all the negativity.

We don't have any concrete information. People are deciding how they think it may work, then complaining about THEIR idea.

Why don't you wait til you have some actual information before complaining?

Because I pay attention to "details."

Because I know how the current system works, and I've seen the information listing the changes to that system and watched the tests so far.
I know how "the numbers" must be adjusted to accommodate the massive new
induction of guests, daily, into the "improved" system.

I've already seen what they have done to a well-operating FP system.

I've already seen what they will be doing to a well-operating PM EMH schedule.

We're all on the same path.
I'm not liking the direction, so far.

you don't KNOW these things.

translates to

"i've come up with the way i THINK the system will work, and how well it will work based off the numbers i have THOUGHT up."

Amazingly enough, Disney employs people to come up with new ideas, they don't just randomly come together and these people KNOW how it will work, they KNOW figures for attendence ride occupancy, etc.

Lighten up, every post of yours i come across seems to be negative.

Then, you don't see very many of my posts. ;)

:thumbsup2

Perhaps someone out there would like to research this and classify every one of your posts by topic, tone and outlook? ;)

Wow, you certainly are barking up the wrong tree. Robo is one of the nicest, most knowledgable, and helpful persons on the boards. He is far from negative. If you see Robo complaining about something on the boards, you can bet it is a legitimate complaint and worthy of taking note of. You aren't going to find many people here that are not appreciative of what Robo adds to the discussions. Just my 2 pennies worth.:thumbsup2

By the very nature of the system they won't be able to be very flexible. You'll likely have a window, and the afternoon/evening spots will be the first taken. I'm sure they will overbook simply because they will assume "x" number of no-shows, but the rate limiting factor is ride capacity, therefore they can't let everyone choose whatever time they want.

And they'll likely be taken almost immediately on the first day of booking availability, effectively locking out those who don't necessarily want to reserve a ride time weeks or months in advance.
