Moo....Now come on...your house can't be that messy! Only MY house is that messy. It would make MommyP cry.

:rotfl: I've been having fire ant issues this week. So my entire house, even behind dressers and beds(in the kids rooms) has been vacuumed. Thrice since Friday.

Lynette
....I am playing a Scrabulous mercy round with MP so she can build her confidence. I so stink at that game.
With you I can play without having to look up words in the dictionary to see if those letters actually do make a word. :lmao:
Okay, MommyP, can you fit in a game with me too? Cuz I like to have as many games going as I can!
[

I also like to have as many games going as possible. I have 2 with my brother, 1 with my sister and then some with you DIS friends.
Whatever! MommyP is FIERCE at Scrabble! She doesn't need a mercy round :cool2: '

If only I could come up with those things on my own. I have to put some serious brain power to work AND use the "look this word up" button. A lot.

Today was my annual. My midwife wrote down, "no charge" since I don't have insurance and Chad just started working. She's the best!

PSA - Food Network show tonight

On July 2, at 10:00PM Food Network’s top rated series, "Dinner: Impossible," will join the Disney's Dreamers Academy to make dreams come true in the premiere of a one-hour episode. If you could combine a culinary James Bond with MacGyver, you would get the show's host, Chef Robert Irvine, a real life chef extraordinaire. Each week, Robert is thrown a new culinary curveball and he must figure out a way to solve the challenge before time runs out.
In this episode Robert's challenge will lead him on a scavenger hunt through all four Walt Disney World theme parks! The hunt concludes at Epcot's World Showplace where Robert will meet a new Food Network face, Chef Jeff Henderson, a motivational guest speaker at Dreamers Academy.
This culinary dream team, including four students of the academy who worked directly with the celebrity chefs as a career-starting dream-come-true, will have just a few hours to create a menu for 350 people, prepare and cook 18 dishes, and learn valuable life lessons along the way.
Are they up to the challenge? Or is this Dinner... Impossible?

Cool, must watch!

Good evening, MOOvers!

Thanks for the info, Marita. It cracks me up that you'd be the one to tell us what's on Food Network. You NEVER eat! :rotfl:

We're watching So You Think You Can Dance until 10...then I'm gonna check that out.

I do TOO eat, just not much. Anyway, I got this info in my work email.

DD arrived safe and sound at my mom's house tonight.
And guess what? She has perfect timing. The big "Schuetzenfest" (roughly translaters as shooters festival) is this weekend, Friday-Monday.

This involves guys competing to shoot a big wooden eagle off a really high pole, and whoever gets the last piece gets to be king and choose a queen. This usually happens on Mondays, I think.
Then there is a big parade on Monday through town. with the king and queen and their court in horse drawn carriages and marching bands. The town gets decorated with banners that span across the streets.
In the meantime, there is a carnival with rides, a BIG beergarten tent with Umpah or whatever bands, pea soup (do NOT ask me why that is a MUST DO then, but it is and always good), bratwurst, and all sorts of other treats. The beer tent was the best to me, LOL, but it's been I think more than 20 or maybe more years since I went. Pretty much most of the town turns out (pop. 15,000 or so, I lost track)

So she hit the perfect time there.

Then she comes home on Tuesday

Marita -- when you said shooters festival I was thinking drink shooters...:lmao:

Glad she made it there safe and sound. That must make you mom happy to have her there now.

Checking in from stormy Michigan . . . it has been an ugly evening here and we are without power yet again :(

DH had a heck of a time getting his Jeep in the pole barn so it wouldn't get damaged by the hail. We went into town and it looked like it had snowed in July! Mist was rising up from the ground. There were LOTS of big tree limbs twisted off and bits of leaves were spattered all over the streets, sticking to people's houses and cars - it was the craziest thing. We're going to watch the news on the battery-powered tv shortly to see if it was covered. I heated up leftover Chinese food from Monday night in a pan on the grill. At least that won't spoil!

No Frosty Paws for the birthday pups tonight because I couldn't buy just two and the remainder would probably melt.

Still no estimate on when our wer will be restored. The paper says its not as widespread this time. Only 4000 people . . . hope they have what they need to fix it in stock. Our Meijer store is running on a generator once again.

Marita - Yay for your daughter getting to visit her grandma!!!

Hope Twink's travels are going smoothly!!!

LOL, NAB! well, there are lots of shooters there as well :drinking1:

My mom is probably equally happy and anxious about having DD there, but she really is a very responsible girl (well, young woman even, at 23 1/2). But I am sure mom worries if DD goes out anywhere.

Oh no Moo not again.

It has been a bad summer. We had hail a few weeks ago that damaged cars and siding on houses. Luckly that was not directly were we were.

They are calling for rain over night and it is really windy here so hope we don't get all that. Plus it is garbage day tomorrow all that stuff will be everywhere.

Marita, glad your DD's trip is going well, and that she'll get to spend some time w/your mom. That festival sounds like a good time too.

Moo, ACK on ANOTHER power outage!

While I was at work today, we had a brief but forceful hailstorm. No loss of power though. Wouldn't make a difference if the office had no power. That happened to us about 3 years ago, and CBM gave us flashlights and told us to keep working. Funny thing is, we're an INTERNET retailer/wholesaler, so there wasn't really much we could do. But we were 4 hours with no power, and he never even entertained the idea of closing the office for the day. :sad2:

NAB, hope the storms bypass you. Who wants to wake up to a driveway scattered with trash?

Hope these storms peter out and don't come your way, Nabbie!

Marita - Frosty Paws is doggie ice cream! Whisker lickin' good. I have only bought it once before.

That story reminds of the 2004 Hurricane season. I worked at POP/CBR at the time. We had to fill 4000 flashlights with batteries :scared1: So if you were there at the time, thank me and my team (among other people) if you had a flashlight.
Not to mention the tons of sand bags that got filled! (Not by Finance though)

Lynt, CBM is CRAZY!

Oy, Marita!

And yes, CBM is DEFINITELY nutso.

Okay, I have had enough of this day.....I am headed to bed. Sweet dreams, ladies!

The news said there were "unconfirmed" funnel clouds south of my town (ACK)!n Guestimate on power restoration is by tomorrow evening :( I have invited a few work friends over for dinner tomorrow night in honor of my clean(ish) house. Hope I don't have to cancel.

L - Glad your storm wasn't too severe. Yikes!
I'm glad it didn't hail at work. I park in a lot now instead of in the ramp. It's days like today that I wish I hadn't switched. I was feeling kind of sorry for the parking lot attendant sitting in that little booth during the storm.

Moo, inquiring minds want to know, what is on the menu if your worker friends come over tomorrow?

Congrats on the clean(ish) house. I am in desperate need of a vacuuming and kitchen floor and bathroom cleaning person. I'll pay $20 an hour or so for now, any takers?????????? (notice this was gender neutral?)

Hope your power comes back before tomorrow night, Moo!

GOOD MORNING! :sunny:

It's Friday! Sorta.

Anybody got fun plans for the weekend??? Not us. I guess it has been decided that we will go to the beach on the 16th and stay 4-5 nights. So that's something to look forward to. I guess.

With you I can play without having to look up words in the dictionary to see if those letters actually do make a word. :lmao:
 Ouch. I just don't have the patience for Scrabble. I go for the easy words.

Lynette & Wendee
....I decline your triple dog dare now that I have been dissed by my current opponent.

Moo....I hate those creepy summer storms! Sorry bout your power. Hope it's back on soonish.

Marita....I'd clean your house for $20/hour. Are park tickets and a half price on-site hotel included?

EVERYBODY HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!

Good morning everyone!

Big L - I've been telling my friend Lisa CBM stories to make her feel better about her evil boss.
I can't stand the woman!
She makes my life miserable even though I don't work for her.

Here's an email she sent to her people today: (that they of course forwarded to me. tee hee)
When going to lunch today and your participating in the luncheon (DO NOT) clock out. If you leave the premises "YOU MUST" clock out.

And yes, she used the blue and red bold text in her email. And the quotation marks and parantheses are hers too.
