:sad2:
Anyone wanna another teenager? He's 18-going-on-6-again, and he's nearly potty-trained??!!
:thumbsup2

NOOOO thanks! I have all I can handle with my boy-man!

Awww, Wendy, sounds like you had a LOVELy Mother's day!

YAY for DH and Jordan on being so thoughtful :lovestruc

Just wanted to let you all know that I am now in Florida!

And, Wendy, I am thinking that that may be the best policy!!! *insert whistling smilie here*

Marita - Hope your DD and DH redeem themselves later! I had one card ''from the puppies'' and one from my hubby. DD was excused from Mothers Day stuff because of graduation festivities and we made her get up early to come see us off instead of stopping at her house.

YAY for I-4. almost there!

Curse at the light at Bonnet Creek for me, OK?

Marita-- glad you heard from your son. Not sure I could handle been yelled at !!

Celery-- Bathing suit and E.R. :scared1: Glad you didn't hurt yourself. Wow on the pictures. Look at your waist.

UMA-- can't wait for your mini trip report sounds interesting indeed.

Twinkie -- hope everything is going well with the in-laws and you had a great mothers day.

Rob-- what a great Mother's day your wife must have had. True love there.

Moo-- How I wish I was there with you guys....:woohoo: on making it to Florida.

Hope all the moms had a lovely Mother's Day!

Everything went off at my mom's house without a hitch. By the time I got there my sister was still asleep, so I brought her birthday breakfast in bed to wake her up. I also gave her a Disney birthday button stolen from Chef Mickey's at that point which she proudly sported all day.

I made omelets, pancakes with lemon marscapone, fruit salad, breakfast potatoes, and even MEAT! Shocking, I know. The whole deal turned out very nicely. And my mom LOVED her present. She was talking about it all day. :)

Moo...WOOHOO on being in Disney!!!! :woohoo: Have a GREAT time!!!

Marita
...my googness you have a lot going on!! Have some hugs and pixie dust from Ohio.   :wizard:

Cel...Hollywood is coming home tomorrow night and she can't find anyone to take her to the airport. I told her my imaginary friend named after a vegetable would be more than happy to do it. She'll meet you at Bonnet Creek and you can take her, k?

Utah...the image of you and DH at IHOP with your homeless looking children made me laugh. Glad your mother's day went so well. :goodvibes

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend and a wonderful mother's day!!!
:grouphug:

A brief live-ish update:

Cel IS looking GREAT!!! We just relaxed for a bit, watched some tv, and I got some dinner after my sister and friend dropped me off. They were anxious to get on to their friends' house in Tampa. My lungs are not great after inhaling some of that wildfire smoke on the way here.

The condo is very nice. Goog thing I'm a night owl because the bedding for the sofa wasn't delivered until 11:30ish! Cel turned in early which gave me a chance to settle in and watch some of the news. I hope they're able to get the fires under control soon.

Well, now that I've coughed my head off for a couple hours ("ideal" roommate that I am), I'm going to try to get some sleep! I'm sure I'll be dragging in the morning . . .

My DD ended up renting a U-Haul trailer for her stuff due to all the rain today so hubby was going to stay over tonight so they can do the move tomorrow.

Nabbie! Wish you could be here too! Wonder if we'll run into Pumba?!

PJ - Goog job on the Mothers Day and birthday celebrations today!!!!!!!! :)

GOOD MORNING! :sunny:

So yesterday DH woke up a little after noonish. And then spent the afternoon messing around and finally went shopping for my gifts around 3ish. I made Emily go so she could pick out what I wanted. Which was a new straightener since last Friday Emily dropped and then accidentally stepped on the one I got for Christmas. I have been in a ponytail ever since.

Mimi and her boyfriend came by and brought me a flower (violet), some brownies and some dark chocolate...mmmmm. DS made me a gift that I think is supposed to be a mouse pad? I'm going to take it to work and scan it tomorrow so you can see it. It is precious!

Attention Facebook friends....I added some pictures yesterday. I KNOW! Can you believe it?! I had some very weird friend requests this weekend....from my brother?! And DH's sister?! (She loves to play Scrabble) All the old folks are jumping on board at Facebook. Come on Twinkie! Come over to the dark side!

Moo....Glad you're in FL! I can't believe there are fires there already. It's been a really rainy spring for us so far. I guess not so much in FL. Have fun and keep us up to date on your week!

PJ
....I am so proud of your mad breakfast skillz! And with the (pilfered) birthday button and breakfast in bed, I guess you win the award for best sister yesterday too!

Wendee....Thanks for sharing your Mother's Day! Mismatched orphan wear....that's the exact thing that MY DH dresses smallish kids in when mom's not looking. Or he lets them dress themselves and the result is the same.

Steph....Another teenager is gonna be a tough sell on this thread...even if he is almost potty trained. Hope he redeemed himself somehow.

Celery
....Emily commented on how SKINNY you looked in your Aladdin picture! What did you have at Yak & Yeti? Was there any seating/shade? I think I'll go back to Flame Tree in Sept. but I'll prolly be sad because none of you will be there with me. :sad1:

Rob....I hope the fact that you didn't post again yesterdee means that you and the boys were doting on your DW. ;)

Everybody else........:wave2:

HAVE A GREAT MONDAY!

1. I made omelets, pancakes with lemon marscapone, fruit salad, breakfast potatoes, and even MEAT!
2. Cel...Hollywood is coming home tomorrow night and she can't find anyone to take her to the airport. I told her my imaginary friend named after a vegetable would be more than happy to do it. She'll meet you at Bonnet Creek and you can take her, k?

1 a. Omelets? Do you eat eggs? I can't ever remember.
b. pancakes with lemon marscapone?!?!?!! Oh my goodness! Sounds yummy!
c. What meat did you cook? I HATE cooking breakfast meat. It makes everything stinky! and it's greasy! and annoying! (but it sure is yummy if someone else cooks it. hee).
d. I've been thinking about you a lot as I eat around WDW. Most of the vegetarian dishes sound so YUMMY! I haven't been giving in to ordering them since I need protein when I can, but goodness! Pretty good choices. And the asian salad at ABC commissary is pretty darn good.

2. Sure! I'll take her to the airport - but she has to dress as Ariel and has to stay in character the whole time. Hee!
Celery....Emily commented on how SKINNY you looked in your Aladdin picture! What did you have at Yak & Yeti? Was there any seating/shade? I think I'll go back to Flame Tree in Sept. but I'll prolly be sad because none of you will be there with me. :sad1:
Thank you to Emily!
Yak and yeti is INDOORS! and nice! And as the sign outside of it says, it has "Conditioned Air!"
All I had was the pot stickers.
I will be trying more when Moo and I go later this week.
I was limited yesterday because I'm trying to be good - I'm not taking my checkcard with me anywhere and I'm limiting the amount of cash I have per day - only yesterday my sunglasses broke (dollar tree glasses rock!) and I had to buy new ones.
At 16 bucks.
:sad2:
So sake and pot stickers was all I had money for.
it was actually just the right size for me.

Hey to everyone else!

Holy Guacamole! We're having FLURRIES right now on the benches, which is the part of the valley that meets the mountains. The valley is getting pounded by thunderstorms. CANT wait till DH starts his next job. He trained for it a coupla days last week. Gave crappy job #1 a 2 week notice, so they're giving him sucky hours, I predict. I told him if they can't give him decent hours, he doesn't "owe" them a 2 week notice. But he has this honourable sense of work ethics :sad2:

Moo- sorry about your lungs! Glad you're all settled. Take a massive amount of pictures. I really want to see Bonnet Creek.

Melinda- Glad your Mother's Day finally got goooood. I'm laughing (with you) about your DH. Mine has always been the same way, so I dunno what possessed him this year :confused3 ;) :rolleyes1 Usually he'd pass such a holiday off as some over-commercialized, attempt by "the man" to separate him from his hard earned dollars. THIS lengthy lecture of his every holiday was designed to make me feel guilty and greedy for falling for the card-company-made holidays. My pat come back was that if I felt at all appreciated all year long, then I wouldn't cling to the days where it was expected thanks to a holiday. So we usually would fight on card-giving holidays and I receive the Walmart leftovers at the last possible moment of the day...when I'm good and pissed. I have even suggested he wait till the next day so he can get 50% off...HE WOULD!

Celery- thanks for giving us a live glimpse of all the fun, skinny!

Pj- Meh, we go to a sort of redneck IHOP, but still, I hate when they're all homeless looking.
I can't believe you made meat! Your Mother's Day menu sounds lovely :flower3:

All the old folks are jumping on board at Facebook. Come on Twinkie! Come over to the dark side!

When it is put that way, how can I resist? :rotfl: Should I join as myself so can be trounced at scrabbel by my thread Peeps AND my old math camp buddies? (I am kind of scared of my worlds colliding.... besides if I go back to teaching the last thing I need is for it to be easier for my students to stalk me) or make up some super cool secret identity?

Wendee- nice trip report. Thanks for sharing. ;)
Cel- you do look great! Be healthy, okay? I trust that you and Moo can get into plenty of trouble without any return trips to the ER.
Peej- Color me impressed. Your mother's day/lil sis birthday sounds marvelous.

Busy day of kids sports here. I am  again- ugh. Twinkie- over and out.

Today is my Giving Birth Day to Goldenchild. Maybe I will be back later to post some appropriately sappy sentiments and/or the gory details. Heh heh heh.

ROB! You are raising those boys right....having them clean the house and their rooms for Mother's Day. You are the best husband EVER...fretting over when to get up. So cute. I am (of course) the first one up. And both the girls spent the night out. I think I'm gonna cut the grass today and see if anybody tries to stop me. ;)
Awww, thanks Melinda. Please send your comments to MrsRobInBigKC. :rotfl2:

Anyone wanna another teenager? He's 18-going-on-6-again, and he's nearly potty-trained??!!
:thumbsup2
No thank you. My 12-year old who thinks he is a teen (and I guess practically is) is enough fun for me. :scared:

Rob-- what a great Mother's day your wife must have had. True love there.
I think she did Nab. She told me this morning, "You did good yesterday.".

Rob....I hope the fact that you didn't post again yesterdee means that you and the boys were doting on your DW. ;)
That's exactly what it meant. Either doting on her or doing some much needed chores which also made her happy.

Holy Guacamole! We're having FLURRIES right now on the benches, which is the part of the valley that meets the mountains.
Snow? Did you tell them it's May?

Hi everyone!

It was nice to read about the way you spent your mother's day.

I must say, tube tops should be outlawed in some women's fashion stores, just saying.

Cause there's no way I'd ever wear one, even if they were free.

Just doing my part to protect the innocent.

My family allowed me to sleep in, there was fresh coffee waiting for me, then they went out after awhile to shop.

I got a nice woman's laptop carrier. A potted plant, a dozen white roses, and the kids made me cards at Best Buy. Oh! I also got an itunes gift card.

Then we had an early dinner at a nice restuarant off the bay and we took my mom. I love Tin Fish. Great atmosphere. Too bad it rained, we could of sat outside. Oh well!

The baby I watch on Thursday was just miserable. I told her mom I thought she was sick when she was picked up.

Friday, they bring her right back and she was worse. The grandmother tells my helper that she has a cold. Duh! After 3 hours of non stop ridiculous crying, I called the mom cause I was ready to call 911. I did not like the way she was breathing. This is the first time in 10 years I was seriously contemplating calling 911 for a day care child. The mom said, I can come get her if you want. I said, YES she needs to go to her DR.

So, the mom works 45 minutes away, I run the baby out to her, and she then realizes how serious my concern is. She calls the dr and they tell her to go straight to the hospital. They admitted the baby for pneumonia. She was released very late Saturday night. She's on a 10 day anti-biotic for the pneumonia and breathing treatments every 4 hours for 5 days.

I hope they take me more seriously now.

Lexy: I loved looking at your pictures.:goodvibes

Twinkie....Join as (real first name) Twinkie! Seriously! Will you have to communicate with IRL family and friends who will be perplexed by your Twinkie alias? Lynette just went with a last initial. Which may also be fake for all I know.

Just doing my part to protect the innocent.
:lmao: I agree!

What are people thinking dropping off sick babies at day care! Seriously! Glad you made the right call and that sweet baby is getting better.

Thank you for the nice Fun Wall comment on my pictures. There was no reply button? So I'll just say, yes....it is fun having girls and you're gonna love being with them. There's a lot of drama, mind you, but lots of girl-momma bonding too.

Ok, time for a bit of a mea culpa. Like the DH's of some of the other Mom's on here, I also haven't always been the best at the holiday though I've always gotten her a card and some sort of something. A big, big part of my frustration in the past was that she would never tell me what she wanted for Mother's Day. This year she did: she said she wanted (1) her house clean, (2) "her" laundry done (these are her words, not mine), and (3) her kids to behave.

So, Saturday morning I started Operation Clean House and by Saturday evening most of my boys were on board without even being asked. They even stayed up a bit late and dusted the furniture and trim boards while Mom slept that night because it was "too late to vacuum". As I said, DS10 also made some signs for DW which I've tried to capture in photos here:

As far as breakfast went, we woke up at around the same time that morning and at least two of our sons were already up (DS7 - James and DS10 - Joe) and someone was fixing breakfast (we assumed they were because they were in the kitchen). I could tell she was starting to get nervous that they were destroying her kitchen so I told her to just lay right there and I would go check. I went downstairs and DS15 (Jonathan) was fixing it (which is why he added his name in pen to the signs above) with DS10 helping him. I went back upstairs and told her everything was fine so we layed there for a little bit longer and then she started to wonder the same thing about time that I had. She didn't know whether she should take a shower then or be ready to go down for breakfast. I told her I would check so I got up and went downstairs again and talked to the cooks (DS7 was sitting on the sofa playing video games this whole time). I then went back upstairs and told her that it would be about 5 more minutes. Sure enough, DS10 came up and told her breakfast was ready so we went downstairs and had pancakes and sausage to eat and milk to drink.

After breakfast, I did some more house cleaning and then went to the store to get food for our lunch that day. SHE actually cooked most of the Noon meal (it was for her Mom) but I did the grocery shopping and I did more house cleaning while she cooked. Lunch was KC Strip steaks, large baked potatoes, fresh corn on the cob -- bought that morning still in the husks, iceberg lettuce salad, and cheesey garlic bread. Dessert was fresh strawberry pie which I picked up at a local restaurant (which was super packed already at 11:00 in the morning -- every table full and about 80 people waiting to be seated, 50 of whom were outside -- I had to park in the bank parking lot across the street and walk over to the restaurant).

This particular grocery store has a great fresh flower section in it. (I have known the floral manager for 20 years not that it does anything for me pricewise.) DW generally does not care for fresh flowers, calling them a waste of money (I, on the other hand, love them) but I went ahead and picked her up a dozen red roses and I think she liked them.

IMGP2153.jpg

I will say the "boy's behaving" part of her request did not last very long, pretty much right after breakfast they started in on each other :sad2: and I had to remove the Playstation 3 for most of the day. I told her that she might as well have asked for the moon there.

But everything else went down good. House clean. Laundry done. Garden fountain open for the season (probably the latest ever but most weekends are filled with baseball -- this one would have been too if it hadn't rained on Friday and Saturday -- AND the winter would not die this year -- and apparently still hasn't if you live in Utah). Lawn edged and weeds whacked. I even cleaned the jacuzzi bathtub thoroughly if she cared to take an uninterrupted bath -- she opted for going to bed about 2 hours early instead (not sure if that was a conscious choice or an accident  ). About the only thing that didn't get done was her car cleaned on the outside (DS10 really wanted to) -- it was just too coolish (around 62) and too windy to wash it by hand.

I realized late last night that we didn't even give her the Mother's Day cards we had for her but I don't think she missed them.

Well? That's IT?

J/K RobIn.

Well, heck, you're making the other DH's look bad! Although my DH exceeded any of my "greedy" expectations, STILL, I didn't get my nap or a clean car/house/weeds whacked/non-cat-chewed roses/ POSTERS (nice touch).

I was just gonna post the picnic pictures of my (I mean DH's) famdamalama too.
