Goooooooog MOOOORrrrrrrrrnnnnin Moovers!! :dance3:

I logged in a couple of times yesterday, but couldnt stay on long enough to post!!

Moo I hear you on the length of grass!! Ours is the WORST in the neighborhood!! :faint: DS#1 said he was going to cut it for dh's bday present - goog thing we didnt hold our breath!! He came over yesterday with his fiance - he was going to cut, I was supposed to run (got that Half marathon!) I sent dh to run with her :rotfl2:

DS comes in - Mower was broke!! :rolleyes1

DH fixed it - the pull stringy frayed so dh had to take the whole mower apart and just bought new rope!

DS and fdil - went home before it got fixed.

Our yard is still 6" at least of tall grass!! And how the heck do I get rid of the bull thistle? (sticker bushes all over - nothing is working!)

Marita Thanks for putting in those hours - hope they arent taking advantage of you!!

Celery Hope you are having a fun time!!

Lexi everyone's still sleepin here!! (I got up to take the doggies out, but now they are even snorin away!!)

LB long time no see!!

Mony Hope Tim has an easier day today! And the meds are workin! Hope you had a good time yesterday!! Bet everyone misses you, :grouphug: continued peaceful prayers!!

PJ How was your party last night??? Did you get to see any Wishes Fireworks?

CBS showed some from WDW - a few seconds only - WOW, I saw one display in the shape of a star!!

We walked 10 blocks to the area where everyone gathers to see our town's fireworks (there is an island in the middle of the lake where they shoot them off) We drive to the end of the road, position the car on the right side of the road and walk across the highway (with a light) and up and over the berm thru Rustoleums parking lot, around the corner from the "old folks home" and find our spot... BRRRRRRrrrrr it was a chilly night!! They had a new firework!! :cool1: DD curled up in Daddy's lap (she was cold!) awwwww

We walked back, and I turned to say something.... WOMP I fell on my ****
I guess someone decided to water the parking log!! :confused3 Got home and my legs were covered in mud!! Took a shower! and we turned on the Turner Classic Movie Channel - - - :rotfl2: :rotfl2: OMG it was the funniest Musical on Independence - signing of the Declaration - Dr. Franklin, Mr. Adams, oh and Mr Adams sent for Mrs Jefferson, so Tom could write the thing - but (after they broke out in song) TJ sent them out the door so he could... "kiss" :rotfl2: Then she came out and talked about his violin playing - so they broke out in song again!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: The actor from Boy Meets World - the principal teacher guy - he was Mr Adams... it was hysterical!

Hi Sandy, Goog Morning All!

Thanks to Sandy's comprehensive post (not boring :goodvibes ) I feel almost caught up on Mooover news! :thumbsup2 I have been too busy lately to spend much time by the computer.

I identify with the whole "long grass woes" as our riding mover is beyond repair, so we are reduced to using a self-propelled mower. I volunteered to mow this week. (and I have the blisters to prove it). I have only used this beast/mower once before. It's sort of like taking a big dog for a walk, where the dog walks you! :rotfl: but I managed not to mow over any trees, flowers or small animals.

It sounds like you guys all had a pretty good 4th of July. The weather was nice here: not too hot, not too cold, and sunny with a nice breeze. I think the last couple of years the weather has been cool or rainy at least part of the day, so yesterday was an ideal day.

Lowell is off running errands after repairing my garage sale vacuum cleaner bargain. The vacuum part worked, but the rotating brush in the power head didn't go around. He managed to fix it, but it needs a fuse or something so it will shut itself off and not burn up the motor if anything gets jammed. At least it works. Naturally, the little old lady we bought the vacuum from told me it worked fine. Sheeeesh, you just can't trust little old ladies these days. :rotfl2:

So what's everyone else up to today? After more house work, I've got to get a little time in the sun so I won't be pasty white when we get to Myrtle Beach.

Lex - Glad I'm not the only one who was doing house cleaning! :) Doing some more today. Have a great visit with your friends and godchild.

Sandy - Sorry about you fall. Hope you didn't get bruised. It was in the 60s here last night. I love that the humidity is low!

DH does all the mowing here - he loves his riding mower

Kay! Goog to see you!!! Myrtle Beach in the summer? :sunny: Take plenty of sunscreen! ;)

Whew! It feels like Sunday to me.

Jordan spent his whole paycheck on illegal f'works he drove to Evanston WY to Porters and ended up in a long line of cars to get to the place. He got 2 Black Mamba mortar tubes and countless illegal things that shoot and go BOOM really loud. Plus gillions of bottle rockets...which at one point one didn't light and he went to investigate and put his head directly in it's path...HEL-LO? After my gently reaming him a "new one", he said, "Oh, ya, not the smartest thing to do".

Needless to say, we were the go-to house for the neighborhood.

Made delicious baby back ribs and homemade (not Costco) potato salad and cowboy beans. AND S'mores a la 50's Prime Time too!

Fun was had by all

Glad to hear most people had a nice 4th! It was absurdly slow at the restaurant last night. I guess people were afraid to leave the parks for dinner at the risk of not being able to get back in. I know some of them did fill to capacity at various points throughout the day. Not something I would care to experience. :crowded:

I may or may not have risked my job by going outside to watch the fireworks. :rolleyes1 There is a little balcony right outside of one of the drink stations. About 3 people can fit out there and there is a perfect unobstructed view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks. We're not allowed out there, of course. Last night I just said TOO BAD and went out to watch the fireworks. They were gorgeous! Disney sure knows how to do fireworks!!! They gave us a ton of food last night, too, so all in all it was a very nice evening even though I was at work.

Today is my one day off this week. :) I have errands to run and then tonight we're headed to a movie. Happy Saturday, everyone!
:grouphug:

Hi everyone!

Sounds like most everyone had a lovely holiday.

Wendy, laughing about "gently ripping him a new one" LOL. But so true, what are kids thinking? Those things a illegal for a REASON!

SIS, good to see you here again, what has kept you so busy?

LB, wow on TJ walking, seems like just a few monts ago we were awaiting his birth! Glad you are doing ok.

Sandy, that sounds like quite the treck to see fireworks. Yikes on falling, glad you are ok. About working these hours, happens every year, but timing this year made working the 4th unavoidable. I'm ok with it, they give us

Moo, Yay on taking 4 days off. Hopefully I can do that (or at least 3) soon.

Well, unfortunately, it seems there is trouble in paradise with my DD and my mom. They have communication and generation issues. DD called crying to daddy a couple of times. I talked to both of them yesterday to translate some things. DD is leaving Sunday to take a train to the Netherlands and buy some postcards to send to the BF's family (the father is of Dutch descent). They had wanted to go there but didnt get a chance. But mostly to get the heck out of Dodge, I think. She comes home on Tuesday. :yay:

I have to go vacuum here shortly, DH is out renting a carpet cleaner. Then I have to work some more, OH JOY! (but at least from home today)

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

ETA, DD just called, still down, she said it all just isn't the same. Not even Schutzenfest. She said 3 rides and the beertent was all. My nephew got her reservations for a hotel in Duesseldorf (where she flies out of) for 2 nights for 78 Euros, and is taking her out later tonight with a friend who speaks English.

Wendy!!! :sad2: Is Jordan 18 yet?

Happy Saturday, PJ! Glad you got to sneak a peak at the MK fireworks! What movie are you seeing?

Marita - Glad your daughter got to see her Grandma even though they had some issues. That's not surprising considering the language barrier and age difference. Did her boyfriend come back home with his parents?

Yes he did. So she is there alone now. As she was talking to me on the phone, mom came in and started scolding her for talking to her friend, when it was just me. She just assumes things. I am NOT looking forward to visiting this fall

OK, back to vacuuming for me......... I do like 2 minutes and take a 10 minute break, not very efficient :rolleyes1

My house is clean and my company is gone!

It's a great feeling!

Still the grass needs mowing (Hi, Kay!) and the laundry is a-piling up. Gotta do some of the laundry since the drama queen leaves for camp in the morning. Mimi has taken her to Target to buy some camp essentials.

In other news, I am posting this wirelessly from the old Gateway laptop. (Thanks again, Joe!)

Wendee....We only get the sparkling legal fireworks but even at that when the "fountain" type fireworks fell over while they were lit, DH ran over to grab and "reset" them. Great example for the kiddies.

Marita & Monica....I now have nebo hooked on trivia. BWAHAHAHAHA!

Moo...What are you doing online! Get back to work! ;) Kidding!

Last edited by lexmelinda : Today at 03:59 PM. Reason: I hate touchpads.

Melinda, get a USB mouse and plug it in, that's what I do. I can't do (hate) touchpad too. You don't have to be limited to touch pad on a laptop.

Why do I every time hit " ;" instead of " ' " ??????

Yay for having a clean house, Melinda!!! I'm mostly just doing laundry today. Washing up rugs and old sheets and such that are stacked in the laundry room so I can store them away in the closet.

That's part of my strategy for cleaning out the laundry room. I need to get rid of the clutter before I can clean out there :rolleyes1 I have a bunch of my mom's craft supplies that my sister pawned off on me after my mom passed away. It's hard to figure out what to do with some of that stuff. I'm thinking I'll just donate some of it. And/or get a plastic bin(s) for storage :confused3 I have a few bags ready to go to Goodwill. Hope they will accept winter clothes during the summer!!!

I've also been researching on-line this afternoon and calling around to try to figure out how to replace our hot tub cover. The turnaround time seems to be about three weeks  Nobody seems to stock them. Grrrrr.

all y'all are just too productive today!! I went garage sale-ing!! :cool1: Got the 2nd dog crate for $10!!

Kay thanks!!

Wendy that is scary indeed - plus the trek to spend all that hard earned money - he should've passed around a hat to help offset his costs!! :)

Moo I almost picked up a couple of craft projects!! I held back - restraint!! Just a slight bruise, and a back that wants to "give out on me" drats, I cant run my 3 miles today!!

PJ :woohoo: on seein the fireworks - we wont tell!!

Marita sad that the festival wasnt all that it should be - and how hard to be with grandma and not communicate! I'm sure there is some cultural shock involved too - I know dh's grandparents were German, and sometimes they came across as very harsh and crumudgeon like!! I'm sure she'll have a good time before she heads home!! Glad you are getting compensated - budgets are a necessary evil!!

Melinda I 2nd Marita's post on just adding a mouse via the usb port area!! Altho I have gotten used to the touchpad on the MacBook Pro - and I'm jealous of your clean house!! DD needs longer time at camp - 1 week isnt near enough!!

Moo goog luck on the hot tub cover

OK - DD is now climbing in and out of the darn dog kennel - this one is the plastic airline approved one - only she locked the door, and I had to get up to help her out!!! She tried to get Seamus in, and he growled - drama at home with a board almost teenager!!

I just got back from Walmart from a short shopping spree. Got some new blinds for he living room windows. The dog and cat managed to break about 10 panels trying to look out the window. :sad2: So now I have to get DH to put them up tomorrow. He said "maybe" he has stuff to do! Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!

I broke down and bought about 4 or 5 candy bars in the checkout line, but I have not eaten any yet. I probably won't either anytime soon, since I am hungry for real food, not candy (no food today yet)

Anyway, so I went looking for some throws for the couch too, no luck, and nobody to ask. Bought a new throw pillow for the couch. The dry cleaner said they couldnt clean the old one , so I might just try throwing it in the washer along with a bathmat. If it doesn't survive, so be it! I got a new one (for naps).

Speaking of naps, it might be time. I think DH is done with the carpet now :yay:

Warning to everyone! Do NOT get plastic storage bins for stuff you dont know what to do with. I have a garage full of them, and none of them has been opened for years!
And DH just started with more carpet cleaning......... so no nap yet!

Hmmm, sounds like a fun Treasure Hunt :rotfl: Imagine the half-forgotten wonders buried in those bins.

Sounds delicious. I hope you saved us some leftovers!

Too bad your daughter and your mom aren't hitting it off, but chances are, when the visit is over they will remember the good moments more than the bad. Hopfefully your daughter will laugh about some of the aggravations later. It's great that she's getting a chance to see your mom, and aside from the family friction, it sounds like she's getting to see and do a lot and having a great time.

You asked what I had been busy with. Nothing earth-shaking, I guess. I have been spending more time outdoors since most years I have so little time to be outside in the summer. I've been tending our little vineyard which is finally starting to develop, spending some time outside with the new kitty (have to watch her every minute), hitting a lot of garage sales at the end of the week, and just generally doing more outside activities.

Your so right about that one. I have stuff from my first wedding in boxes etc. and that was almost 19 years ago.:lmao:

Moo-- our Goodwill take winter stuff all year long. Besides have you been in the stores lately, all summer things are on clearance and the fall stuff is coming in.

Sounds like everyone is enjoying there long weekend!

Marita-- hope you got some real food. Sorry your dd is having communication problems. Maybe your mom thinks she is you , where you a trouble maker when you were young!!

Kay-- the weather has been beautiful to be outside in. Not to hot or cold.

Hmmm, sounds like a fun Treasure Hunt :rotfl: Imagine the half-forgotten wonders buried in those bins.

Party at Marita's house!! :rotfl2:

and Kay :rotfl2: at your edit line - and I re read my post - sp error? Bored teenager not board!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Nab hidey hi!!

DH decided to run my 11 miles today - and he is spent!! Now I had planned on making a rack of ribs - only he runs at 4:30pm - till 6ish - it takes 2 hours to make ribs, who wants to eat at 8pm?? :sad2: He thinks he's on vacation :rotfl: so we went to the Chinese restaruant for dinner!!! :thumbsup2

DD is trying to introduce the dogs to the guinea pigs... :sad2: Is it bedtime yet?

Marita eat a sandwich!!

Marita, my philosophy is that it's probably going to be better to store my mom's craft stuff in one of those plastic bins than several bags and little boxes and a clothes basket like they are now. Putting them in a box will force me to weed out the stuff that is no longer usable or donatable!

Nabbie! Goog point about the winter stuff!!! :lmao:

We decided to go over to my cousin's restaurant for dinner tonight, which is about a 40 minute drive. It was kind of shocking to see how much damage was caused during the storm this past week and it was very widespread.

Remember how I mentioned all the leaf fragments in the streets in town? Well, out in the country, lots of trees looked like they had be stripped of about 2/3 of their leaves. I sure hope it doesn't kill those trees off. And in some of the corn fields, all that was left was stalks. In other fields you could see more of the leaves, but I think they are too far gone and will have to be turned into silage. The fields near my house weren't hit too badly. I don't ever remember seeing such bad hail damage. In town, one of the insurance companies had a drive through claims center set up.

On a more positive note, dinner was really good tonight.DH had pizza from the wood-fired oven. And I was really happy to find that my cousin finally added house salad that I love to the menu as an entree-sized salad with grilled chicken. And I had some Bailey's cheese cake for dessert. Yum!

Marita-- hope you got some real food. Sorry your dd is having communication problems. Maybe your mom thinks she is you , where you a trouble maker when you were young!!

.

Marita eat a sandwich!!

Geez already, I had the last of the leftover stew!

Nab, I was NOT a trouble maker, except for threatening to stick my head in the gas oven when I was 15 and my then BF broke up with me in favor or another girl ( a blonde, ironically also named Marita, which is a rare name) and then dating and marrying an American soldier at at age 18 and moving across the ocean. Other than that, I was an Angel
