Moms to be Part 4

Ariel and E: Glad to hear you two are doing alright. I remember some cramping early on, really freaked me out!

Today was the 24 week check-up and for the first time I have gained weight, so now my OB wasn't complaining. I am 4 pounds above my start weight, not bad! I still don't understand why this lady is so obsessed with the weight since I started off on the heavy side. Little Miss Charlotte had a heart rate of 130 today and is doing well. So far everything seems to be uneventful, which I like.

Today I also had my first "crazy-emotional-pregnant-chic" moment. We have been cleaning up and preparing for family to come in tomorrow. We had some old furniture stored in the baby room which needed to be gotten rid of so we threw it out today. I cried! Bawled! This furniture was childhood furniture which I grew up with, one had been a swivel chair and one a little storage hutch for the kitchen. The kitchen piece was beautiful, but we have no room for it now nor can I see where I would ever put it. It is lovely, but has no place. So I cried throwing that away. Thankfully DH was understanding and just kind of hugged me as I cried over furniture. Those were the last pieces of my childhood furniture we had in our home. Everything else is items we bought together. *sigh* I miss it but life moves on! I will watch an episode of Hoarders to make me feel better about throwing stuff away! :rotfl2: I felt so silly crying over furniture though....

Not much else to report. Looking forward to family arriving into town tomorrow and for an eventful weekend. DH will be having an Endoscopy nest Tuesday to evaluate some reflux he has been having and he is eagerly looking forward to the anesthesia. he has heard such wonderful things from me about anesthesia that he is excited to try some himself. :rotfl: He he he... I hope the medication turns him into a silly drunk! Good luck to everyone else!

Congrats on the weight thing! Wow, you are doing well. I actually lost a little at first, then gained 4 lbs, then lost 2 lbs this week! I'm really hoping not to gain much the first trimester b/c I was a little over at 158 when I started (I'm 5'6 ish).

Sorry you got so emotional with the furniture. I bet I would do the same. I am very sentimental and also a pack-rat!

Good luck to your hubby! Hope he enjoys the drugs...lol!

OK - I have nothing to report - but just had to post because I noticed that my little baby on my ticker moved up to the LAST PICTURE! One more month. :woohoo::scared1: This has gone SO fast. I am excited, and nervous and freaking out about getting everything ready (heavy nesting happening here). I'm uncomfortable and ready to be done, but also don't want it to end either (KWIM?) This is my last time I'll go through this, (OK, I've said that before  a couple times ) but still - I'm not sure I'm ready for it all. Sigh.

Yah!! Congrats on 1 more month!! It so funny you say it has gone so fast. I'm thinking the opposite for me at 8w2d! But I am sure by the last month, I'll be saying the same. I'm sure you will get it all done! Good luck this last month!!

I try my best not to be too much of an emotional pack-rat. I have one suitcase which we don't use, but has been labelled the "Suitcase of Sentimentality". It is the one space I designate to keep small trinkets from different eras in my life and be sappy. That way I have one area for sentimental stuff and clean everything else. I really hate clutter overall.

My suitcase includes a sock from a little girl I Nannied for (she left it in my care when was 3 yrs old), my whistle from being a camp counselor, T-shirts from my old summer camp, pictures, Cards my DH has given me since we began dating, A bead bracelet another girl I Nannied for gave to me, A light-bulb from the Main Street Electrical Parade (We watched it the last night it was there in 2000 and a bulb fell off a float), A dance card from circa 1918 that my Great-Gramma had used (it has her dances listed, once of which was my Great-Grampa), My Kindergarten School Uniform, most recently I added my ID tag at the hospital where I did my residency. Lots of little trinkets that I confine to one suitcase.

Sadly, a large wooden piece of furniture would not fit into the suitcase! DH took out the trash last night and said the Hutch was gone from the dumpster.... so somebody had seen it and picked it up. At least it lives on in another home! It is a good solid piece and I'm sure it can fit in somebody's home.

Oooo I love that concept! "Suitcase of Sentimentality" how absolutely thoughtful and heartfelt!:lovestruc If you wouldn't mind I'd like to try that concept for my husband. I would probably have to use a couple of crates but they would be his and that is what counts:lovestruc

I probably keep too many things, but I am also one where if I get rid of something that is worth anything, I feel like I have to give it away to someone to be used! I feel better about getting rid of it then!

Yahoo! Made my first OB appointment this am! I go on March 18th. Seems like so far away. I actually spoke with my RE nurse this am because the dr had told me I could stop taking progesterone and the pills as of today but I am just 9 weeks today and I thought the cut off was 10! The nurse told me to keep taking the shots and pills until Friday and then I would be good. That it could be a bit over kill as well but ya know, I feel better doing the whole gammet at this point to be honest.:goodvibes

We saw my belly move this weekend!:lovestruc That was sooo cool! Mike took picks and everything! Saturday I was ok and we even went out with another couple on Satuday night, Sunday though you woulda thunk that I drank a whole 12 pack of beer the day before!:scared1: Sheesh! I was exhausted the whole day! I did get up for Chinese and the Oscars so that was cool but I was out like a light again! Musta gone through a growth spurt of something!:scared1:

Hope everyone had a good weekend and is feeling well!

Hello all!

E- Glad to hear your first regular appointment set up! You should have a 'graduation party' for yourself. :goodvibes

The family weekend went well! It included Older BIL, his wife and stepson.... FIL (Bio-dad) and MIL (step-mom)... and younger BIL and his boyfriend of 2 yrs.

The whole point of the weekend was to introduce the BF to the family as YBIL just 'came-out' last year. The BF is a super nice guy and we figured having a fun theme park weekend would make for a great first introduction to FIL and MIL. Both MIL and FIL really liked the BF! It went very well with minimal awkwardness. The IL's are OK with YBIL being gay, but this is the first boyfriend, so we were worried about how the introduction would go. MIL is even making plans to meet BF's family. The weekend could not have gone better! Everyone had a great time. Although DH and I were exhausted from being 'runners' through the parks and keeping track of reservations and all the activities. We were sort of in charge of making magic for the whole group and everyone else followed us around. It was tough because the group wanted to stay together the whole time, we couldn't split the group up!

Thankfully everyone claims to have had a good time. The 2 Disney lovers, the 2 Disney haters, and 2 in-between folks who just hate walking around too much. We had a couple meat lovers and a couple vegetarians in the group. Coaster lovers, and Coaster haters... Everyone is pleased and YBIL is even saying if we give him a daily rate he will recommend us as tour guides for his friends. :lmao: I don't think I could do that all the time! Just for family.

The weekend came to an abrupt halt when Saturday evening DH's Bio-Mom called to say that his Grampa had passed away. It was not unexpected, but DH had to fly out of the country yesterday evening to attend the funeral today. DH didn't want me flying, so I am home now. I cancelled the procedure he was to have on Tuesday and hopefully can reschedule for later in the week since it is a minor procedure.

Nothing much else to say. I will be doing a bit of cooking tomorrow because I have a potluck to attend. Everyone has to bring a Green Dish. I am taking the cheap way out and just making Truffles and putting green sprinkles on top. I will do Red-Velvet truffles since I have all the ingredients on hand and will just put green sprinkles on the chocolate coating. That should work.

Hope everyone is doing well!!

Whoo hoo to first OB appt!! Even though I have been for blood draws and my first u/s, I actually haven't gone for my first OB appt either! Mine is Wednesday, along with my 2nd u/s and my nurse history/interview. I actaully have seen the doc briefly b/c she talked to us for a little bit after our first u/s, as she is just so happy for us! But that wasn't anything official.

Awesome on the stomach moving, but they say you can't feel the baby move until 2nd trimester? Was it just gas, ya think?

I'm good. Still tired, but doesn't seem as much so. Either tatas aren't as sore or I am getting used to it. A new development, I am not sleeping all that well some nights b/c MY SNORING is waking me up! How crazy! Other than that, just chugging along. 9 weeks today!

Uh, major yum on the red velvet truffles! Can you send some my way?? ;)

scottish duffy - glad to hear the family weekend went well!

E and Ariel - glad all is going well - E I thought I was feeling my baby very early too - but I don't think it should be anything that would make your stomach move until at least 20 weeks or later.

Had a OB appt. today - I'm one cm dilated! This is typical for me at this point and I expect to progress one cm each week for 2 more weeks and then go into labor. That is what I have done in the past. STILL don't have the nursery done and just not feeling well enough to get in there and finish it. I would appreciate any prayers that it will all get done. My hubby is being as helpful as he possibly can, but is so busy at work and if he is going to be with me when the baby comes - he can't take anytime off now. At night he is busy running our other kids to where ever they need to be and helping with dinner etc. as I haven't been able to do it all. At this point I am leaving it all to God to help me get it done.

Hey there! Was your appointment yesterday or is it next Wednesday?

Just to clear up I didn't feel a thing;) but I totally saw my stomach move.:goodvibes I am totally open to the fact that it could have been digestion / gas:laughing: since I've never really watched my stomach before this must be something that happens all the time, just never really noticed:goodvibes

talulabelle ~ Totally sending prayers! Maybe some of your children could help you out over the weekend? Make it a family building experience that everyone is contributing to welcome their new family member. It may be a little different but even having them each write a message for the baby on the wall welcoming them or help folding clothes and you can direct? :lovestruc

Just a thought. . . In the mean time sending good vibes, prayers and lots of Pixie Dust your way!pixiedust:

I am so flippen tired and crampy! Sheesh! I could also eat a WHOLE bowl of chocolate ice cream right now with walnuts! Also, if I could sit all day in bed with a bag of hershey's mini bars I would be in heaven says the crazy, diabetic pregnant lady:crazy2: I have a fundraiser this evening for my DD's school so I just spoke to my boss and asked if I could leave early so I could go home and nap, thank goodness he was cool with it so I am good to go, should I say it? Can I say it? "WINNING" :rotfl: Yep loopy today. . .

How's everyone else doing?

All is good here! Credentialing is taking *forever* to finish, though I am told I should have Hospital privileges by mid-week next week. I shadowed at Main campus today to get the lay of the land. We have roughly 30 operating rooms in just that one location! :scared1: That is just one floor, that does not include all the other locations anesthesia shoots out too. I will most likely be at the Main campus for two days per week (all new hires start there at first because of the high patient acuity and experience) then shoot to other campuses for the other 2 days. I only spent half a day today am an zonked! I barely slept last night.

Yesterday DH had his Endoscopy and his microchip implant in his esophagus. I now have to keep a diary of every time he eats, sleeps, or has heartburn symptoms. I am keeping the record due to the fact his handwriting is atrocious! The doc would never be able to read it otherwise. DH is enjoying the pager he wears that communicates with his microchip, it measures the acidity in his esophagus second-by-second. So when he lays flat he can see the reflux. Boys and their techy toys.... I will turn the pager device back into the hospital tomorrow so the doc can read his results. The microchip will automatically detach itself from it's current location tomorrow and proceed to pass through his system. It is pretty nifty!

DH was a fun 'drunk'. He has no memory of his procedure or several hours thereafter. According to him the last thing he remembers is turning on his left side in the procedure room. The next memory he has is being at home, fully dressed, and waking up on the sofa with a half empty plate of banana bread in front of him! :lmao: Heck, isn't that the sort of hospital experience most of us would want? He does not remember conversations, or my driving him home and getting him set up on the sofa. He is a 'cheap date' when it comes to the Versed. He was a very good patient though.

I can't help but think that now both my cat and my husband have microchips. So should I lose either one of them, I can get them back.

That is the latest and greatest happening in my life. I think I will go take a nap right now.

E- hope your cramping gets a bit better!

Tallula- here is hoping you get everything done with and pop that baby out in a timely manner! :wizard:

Wow sounds like you have so much going on! What a totally exciting time in your life:goodvibes Glad DH is doing well and that is really cool about the micro chip! Wow it's incredible how science is so cool right now!

Hope you're getting some well deserved rest and have a great weekend!

My appt is this Wednesday, coming up. I am slightly anxious about it, just b/c I hope all is still well. I am mostly calm though b/c 1) no matter what, there isn't anything I can do about it and worrying is not good and 2) I do feel a bit more optimistic b/c I seem to have many more symptoms this time than my last preganancy, plus we already saw the hb once.

Maybe I should watch my stomach to see if it moves! :)

Hope you are feeling better! Glad your boss was so understanding. I pretty much have to nap every day!

I'm doing ok. I did try a new prenatal DVD Friday night and I have been sore ever since! OMG...can you say pain?? I am hoping it eases up this afternoon b/c I want to go walk with the dog today and tomorrow. Also, a new symptom has arrived...cravings!! I wasn't really having them before...now I see something on TV and I want it! I was watching Jersey Shore where they put cream cheese in someone's bed as a joke and all of a sudden I wanted a baked pretzel with cream cheese! Also peanut butter!!

Other than that, I'm good. Had some cramps last night after a particularly difficult bathroom moment. But once I was able to do everything I needed to, I felt better!

Thanks everyone for the pixie dust! We did get through a lot this weekend and got the crib together. That made it all seem very real that this is happening.Just need to get the changing table together tonight and clear out some more junk from the closet and it will be done. But I still have alot to reorganize in my other kids rooms. (we moved all the kids from room to room to make a place for baby) Also my friends threw me a huge surprise shower on Sat! I thought I was going over to pick up some second hand baby things from her and when I walk in - all of my friends are there! I got a new travel system stroller which is awesome because my old one is so gross at this point and a bassinet which I also needed. Also a ton of adorable tiny clothes. I was so happy and grateful. I had so much fun with my friends I forgot about how crappy I was feeling. Hope everyone else had a great weekend too!

Wait, don't docs have atrocious handwriting? Maybe they can read it, too...lol! ;)

My hubs needs something like that (the microchip). He actually takes prescription meds for his acid reflux already. His father died of esophogal (sp?) cancer due to acid reflux, so it is a very serious situation, for sure!

Glad your hubs is getting taken care of.
