Moms Panel Results!?

1) our last trip was in October 2002. I know, long time since we have been there!!!

2) we are leaving on Nov 14th, in 13 days!!! Yeah!!! We are taking our daughter for the first time!

How awesome is that! Enjoy every precious moment!

Hello everyone,

It is a little bit quiet around here.

Well, all the interviews are done. Everyone now just has to sit and wait, it will be a long weekend.

I am really excited about the great group of people that are bonding over this. It seems like we have a really nice age range of kids and we all click quite well. I wish we could all go, even those that are supporting us that aren't officially in the final round.

I have to jump off for awhile, but it sure has been a treat being part of this. The good attitude and well wishes of late are uplifting. More Disney magic, even though it may be unintended (or is it....?).

Have a great evening everybody!

It has been really nice communicating with you all too (even though I am a only a 2nd rounder, I can't say reject because I would be forced to admit it right?). I found a home for my Disney obsession! My friends will be very happy about that! I wish you all the best in the upcoming week. Is this intended Disney magic? Nothing would shock me from Disney! I plan on checking the site in Jan. Can't wait to see you all on there! Hey..if anyone needs a personal assistant for the trip, I am very responsible, fun and have no criminal history! HA HA! I have even paid all my parking tickets! Have a really great weekend all of you! :yay:

Is it Wednesday yet? pixiedust:

As a 2nd rounder, I am still hoping for a future panel contest.

I can't remember the rules of the contest regarding employment with Disney. I am thinking about applying for seasonal help at the Disney store in the local mall. If they have the contest in the future, would this disqualify me because would I be considered a Disney employee?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks everyone!

Thanks,
Leslie

You know I don't know. B/C the Disney Stores are now owned and operated by The Children's Place and since it technically is not a "subsidiary" I don't know how the rules would go on that. They are simply stores that house the Disney brand but are not owned by Disney per se.

I don't think the Disney Store is actually owned by Disney anymore. But you should check with them when you put in an application, just to be sure! :)

Couldn't tell ya for sure. We don't even have a Disney store close by anymore.
I agree guys, this will be one awesome panel (GREAT if all the you guys make it) Wouldn't it be cool if after six months or when someone got off they started contacting all of us! I'll take seconds, it doesn't bother me. Untill then I will continue to take my trips and increase my knowledge. I'll even work on being more creative, I think this could only help!

That is the spirit 5/4Disney! I would be happy to be seconds! I totally agree with you! OPTIMISM! I was thinking the same thing! I am currently researching and talking to my kids/hubby about what different things they would like to do for our next trip (Feb). We had a short trip in August, our big trip (8 days) was last October! I am not giving up! :dance3: You are awesome 5/4! We never get to concentrate on Epcot, so I am really excited about that this time!DD is really into countries right now! I can work on my creativity and word counting in the meantime! Maybe the folks at Disney have something up their sleeves, do you think? We can only hope! This is for all the 2nd rounders...keep positive and pluggin' away!

"We are all in this together"..wonder where that is from?
:dance3:

Sleeptight you finalists, I will be dreaming of Disney! :cloud9:

Leslie :cheer2:

Hey all you 3rd rounders, now that all the interviews are over anyone want to tell us a little more about your interview? Did they tell you anything about the training?
Did any of you happen to ask how many semi finalist there were in round two?

I think many of us have agreed we are great at babbling! All of the folks on the panel were wonderful and tried their best to put us at ease right off the bat. As far a training, they indicated they were going to try and shorten by one day - from 12-8 through 12-12 down to 12-8 through 12-11. As far as I know, none of us asked how many made it to round 2. To be honest, the 15 minutes flew by...I mentioned before, it was the fastest 15 minutes of my life and the upcoming week will be the slowest week of my life!

Sorry guys, I have been out of the loop. My kids have had their school plays so I have been watching those and today they had Mass (so I was the good parent and went with them).

1)Our last trip was in January @ WL with my parents and twin sisters family. I must say this is our favorite time of year to go. Except for our trip three years ago when a cold front blew in and it was in the 30's and 40's. You see I'm from Texas so we freak out when it is in the 50's (by the time it's in the 30's people are paniced and calling off school. HA HA!!)

2) We are leaving on the 28th of this month for our first trip to DL/DCA. We are staying at the PP. I think we will miss Karen by about a week. That stinks!

Yep, you will, we will be checking out of PP on 11/20, so we will miss each other by just over a week! Bummer, it would have been cool to rendezvous with a DIS'er! I'll come back and give you a full report so you are really ready for your trip!!

I agree, it has been great being a part of this and I didn't even make it to round 3! I'm so excited for you guys, I hope everyone who is posting on this board who had a phone interview makes it to the panel! You are such an engaging group, Disney will have a winner with this panel for sure if you guys are all on it! You will have such a great time at your training!

I really don't know how you guys are making it to next week to find out the final outcome, I feel like I can't wait and it's not even me! I think this is all part of the Disney magic, it's part of that feeling you can't quite put into words (LOL, well, I guess you guys effectively did, that's why you're round 3 finalists) about how special WDW is to you....feeling such a kinship with people you don't even really know, it's definitely pixie dust! :grouphug: pixiedust:

I had my interview today. Whew! I was wiped out before it even began with all the anticipation and nervousness. I can barely remember what was even asked much less how much I tried to squeeze into my answers; I'm sure it was a rambling mess. The panel asking the questions did so much to keep things calm and were so positive throughout the entire interview.

Well, now the wait for all us continues through Wednesday afternoon. I'll need to remember to have my phone on; as if I'd forget that!

Wishing, wishing, wishing all of us here pixiedust: continue through to the end!

This process has pulled so many of us together that we didn't really know well before, and for sure if nothing else it shows us that there are other people out there who love Disney as much as we do, and I know the reason we all care so much about this is because we love to share Disney with others, both those who already know about Disney and those people who don't know they love Disney...yet!

Hang in there everyone!

Okey dokey, technically it is Friday. :cool1: So. it's time for today's question...

"What question would you have asked the interviewers if you could do it over (or if you had been interviewed)?"

During my interview I didn't ask any questions - doh!:headache: Mostly due to the fact that they had already answered the key questions I wanted to ask (When will they notify us? Is it 1 or 2 trips?, etc.), but also partly because I didn't want to ask anything that might offend or count against me.

So, I hope you will indulge me a few questions now:
1) What is the plan for the panel after June 2008? What happens when (not if :goodvibes ) it is successful?
2) Any plans for a DLR panel?
3) Any info they can share about the format of the panel?
4) Anything you do (or don't) want posted in any public forum about this process?

Of course I would also have liked to have received information about the 6-day trip, and the 4-5 day training (what hotels? what events? etc.), but I don't think that would have been appropriate, as that isn't my main motivation for applying.

Hi Bret - this is going to be an interesting question to read responses to!

I like your #3 and #4 and would have probably asked something similar. I am very excited to learn about the panel...I think the more we know about it, the more we can figure out how we can help make it a huge success.

I also did not want to ask about the trip(s). As far as I'm concerned, if they want to pitch a tent for me at Fort Wilderness, that would be fine...although I've never slept in a tent and I hope there are no wild animals or bugs!!

The only questions that really came to my mind after the interview were:

1) How bad did I really sound!?
2) Can we have a redo later in the week?
:lmao:

Have a good day! Diane pixiedust:

GREAT discussion topic!!

I would have asked ALL of Bret and Diane's questions and added a few of my own:

1. How will the Moms Panel be advertised/marketed? Are they going to make a big push for it at the beginning or do they want to let it grow slowly over time?
2. What sort of support will there be at Disney for the panelists? For example, if a guest asks me a question that I don't have an answer to (hard to imagine, I know  ), is there someone at WDW that I can call for input.
3. What criteria will be used to determine if the panel is successful?

As far as the lodging goes -- I might even be able to deal with the tent with the animals and bugs. :rotfl:

Have a great day all.

I actually asked the ? about the panel and long term for it and they said that it was still a learning process for them and they were just as excited as we are about where it's going and how it's going to get there :)!

Just reading these posts is putting butterflies BACK into my stomach..UGh..maybe I need a sabatical from Dis until Wed :)!

I think they were surprised by the amount of responses and passion about the Mom's Panel and are "in training" just like "hopefully" we will be. I think this is such a wonderful opportunity and that the 12 CHOSEN ONES will have just as much input on the running, day to day stuff, etc., as the people who were in on the interviews..it's a learning process for everyone and very exciting as well.

OK, off to drink some coffee to kill the butterflies :)!
