Moms Panel Results!?

cdotla,
I think you have a point. Even those of us who received the rejection at the end of round 2 got the we may see you later rejection. However; I would love to do a focus group or market research after all that is my other passion besides Disney. I find them fun. I love going to Disney but I also like to sit back and "people watch". Sometimes when the DH is on a ride with the older girls I will sit back while DS is napping in the stroller and just observe. You should try it the next time you go, it is somewhat entertaining.

I love doing that too. I especially like watching the character lines. Everyone has such different reactions when they see disney characters, it's great.

Congratulations to everyone. :cool1: This is so exciting. It is so fun to read how it is progressing. I just knew some Dis members had to make it. :goodvibes

Can I ask a few questions? I am curious.

Looking at the list not many of the names jump out at me as ones I recognize from around the board before (I have been at Dis for a while now and I am a pretty active poster.) Many have pretty low post counts (on Dis standards.) :rolleyes1

Did any members here join Dis because of the panel contest, or where some more of lurkers before? If they were just lurkers clearly by Disney interest you have more to contribute to Disney conversations then you thought you did!

Have a happy Halloween!

I have been on these boards for quite awhile now. Most of my posting has been on the cruise boards because I am going on the Eastbound Panama Canal cruise in August of 2008. I am so excited about that!

I didn't join because of the contest.

I do lurk quite a bit to pick up tidbits and learn about people. I typically post to offer advice if others haven't gotten to it first or if I have a different perspective.

I really enjoy reading everyone's opinions and if they are different from my own, I feel like I can learn something new or avoid an issue that may come up. Knowledge is power!

I avoid anything that has gone negative. I can't stand it when people get flamed for having a different opinion! UGH

Nice idea about the questions - thank you! :thumbsup2

1) Pet - we have 2 outside dogs, Cooper and Wrigley (dh chose the names, for Cooperstown and Wrigley Field ;)), and 2 inside kittens, Snow White and Cinderella. My oldest dd named them after obvious princeses. :rotfl: They were dumped in our road tied together and tied to a box of food. Their brother was run over by a car when I found them. :( They were only 4 weeks old so I've bottle-fed them and done lots of nurturing to get them healthy. We're not normally 'cat people', but we've all fallen for these little sweeties. :goodvibes

2) small town here. I grew up in a town of about 200, 30 minutes away from a mcdonalds! In a bigger town now, but still pretty small by most peoples standards. Lived in a few cities along the way. :)

3) Oh gosh, it's SO hard to choose just one! I'd have to say Animal Kingdom (I L-O-V-E LOVE the Jammin Jungle Parade!!!), but Magic Kingdom is a close second.

Good morning everyone! It's Thursday ... and you know what that means?! More round 3 interviews!

I believe mom3boys is going today - good luck to you!!!

Anyone else?

If I remember correctly, interviews today are from 11-1 EST. So at 1:00, it will be allllllll over. We just sit back, and wait! :hourglass

There have been countless posts about this.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that everyone who received the rejection email (and I was one of them) were not just being advised they didn't make it, but were also being advised that they were somehow selected to be contacted for another yet to be disclosed Disney opportunity - which I would guess is likely going to be some type of market focus group or survey.

I don't think that Disney changed its policy on not advising those who didn't make it. There are too many people who never received emails for that to have occurred. It's just that in addition to not making it to round 2 you also didn't make it to the list of people selected for this other future Disney opportunity - whatever it is. Given the large amount of people in this group I can't imagine it will be all that special, and like I said, is probably some type of survey/focus group.

Don't get me wrong - I don't know why it would be so hard for Disney to send rejection emails to everyone. However, they did say in advance that they weren't going to and this is typical practice of many companies who have competitions or sweepstakes such as this.

It's my understanding that there were 3 types of rejections:
1) included the comment about future possibilities;
2) same letter, but w/o the above comment; and
3) no response at all.

The confirmation email we all received upon entry specifically said that they would not be able to contact those not selected to advance to the next round. No mention of runners-up, almost-good-enoughs, not-quite-good-enoughs, or total rejects.

I just had a thought. Weren't the responses "signed" by 3 people? Maybe they split all the responses into thirds, and each responded to their own group in their own way. Those of us - and I agree there were alot - who never heard anything, were all supposed to hear from so-and-so, who never bothered to send out their rejection letters, only their congratulations. OR, maybe one of them sent out the going-to-the-next-round emails, one sent out the almost-good-enoughs-and-maybe-we'll-be-in-contact-later emails, and the 3rd sent out the thanks-but-no-thanks emails, and then there was the last group of us that they just sent to the recycle bin. Oh well, I don't expect we'll ever know.

But again, Congratulations to all who made it to both the 2nd and 3rd rounds!!

And best of luck to all 3rd rounders in their interviews!!

Way to go DISers!!

1) Tell us about your pet(s) if you have any.
2) Do you live in a big or small town?
3) What is your favorite Disney Park? (Feel free to include any park, not necessarily at WDW.)

Pets: 2 English Springer Spaniels, Disney & Dutches, 1 white cat Blizzard
Town: I live near a city in a fairly big town (a few shootings on my street)
Favorite: Is the Magic Kingdom, I get a little chocked up stepping onto main street. I forget about all my worries, but I have to hold back tears watching my 2 boys experience the magic of the parks and the characters. We recently went without the kids for the first time, we had a good time, but something was missing. I guess a part of my WDW experience is reliving it thru my children and remembering going when I was a child. My 9 year old has been writing about Walt Disney's life in his school writing journal.

Good morning everyone!

This is my favorite time of the morning. The 3 oldest kids are up and on the buses before 7 and I don't wake up the younger ones for another half hour! It is actually quiet for 30 minutes! Ahhhhhhhhhh.

Anyway, I really enjoyed reading everyone's pet/city/park responses.

So, if you are all up for it, here are more questions...

1) When was your last Disney trip?
2) What is your next planned trip?

Have a great day! :yay: :yay:

1) We went to WDW at the end of September for a few reasons: it was my DD14's birthday and Epcot's 25th! We stayed at AKL and we had a great time! The last night of our trip was Oct. 1st and the big birthday for Epcot. I heard that Illuminations was going to have a special finale and we had great seats! BUT, it had rained quite a bit that evening and I was really really concerned that Illuminations would be cancelled. They made a few announcements regarding a delay so we just waited and chatted with the people around us. I don't think I was ever so excited to see the show and finally it started! The special finale was AWESOME. My kids and I were laughing so hard at the end because there were just so many fireworks, we could "feel" it pounding our bodies. It was awesome. Even my little DD3 braved it out and loved it. I got tears in my eyes and loved every second of it, no matter how wet I was!

2) I am really excited about our next trip. My son's high school band is playing at WDW! So of course, we have to go see them. I think that is going to be a really neat experience for the kids. That will be in March. The next trip after that is the big one. We are going Disneyland to Disney World via the Panama Canal on the Disney Cruise. Yee ha!

1) Our last Disney trip was in August of 2007. We were only there for 2 1/2 days after spending time at Daytona Beach. We got to attend the Pirate and Princess party which was awesome! We also hit MGM for our favorite show, FANTASMIC! It was very hot though! In the 100's!!!!

2) Our next planned trip is in Feb. 2008. We have never been to Disney in Feb so it should be interesting to try another season trip. DH is going to the Daytona 500 while we are there. We will be going to Cinderella's castle for breakfast...love every second of that experience! DD will be wearing her Halloween costume to the castle, well....it was supposed to be for last night but decided it was too ITCHY, so she was JO JO again! We are also doing the Jo Jo/Little Eienstein Breakfast at MGM for the first time...DD 4 loves them! She doesn't know about that. Excited for HSM 2 stuff in MGM! We are staying at Shades of Green again (amazing place!).

Good luck with the final interviews and wishing you patience for the next week of waiting. :thumbsup2 :flower3:

Good morning everyone!

1) When was your last Disney trip?
2) What is your next planned trip?

:yay:

1) April, 2007
2) HOPEFULLY December 8th, 2007 with the rest of the panel winners!!!

OK, I have some catching up to do. Now are the rules still to keep this to 100 words or less?:lmao:

1) Tell us about your pet(s) if you have any.
2) Do you live in a big or small town?
3) What is your favorite Disney Park? (Feel free to include any park, not necessarily at WDW.)

Pets: None (but wish we did)
Town: Medium suburb of a big town (Chicago)
Favorite Disney Park: I'd have to say MK because that is the park that brings out so much magic in my kids. It also was the only option when I first went to Disney with my dad 33 years ago - and I still remember that visit so fondly.

Good morning everyone!

1) When was your last Disney trip?
2) What is your next planned trip?

1) Last Disney trip: We went to DL/DCA in August. Absolutely loved it. Much easier to plan and tour than WDW (and you can walk everywhere :thumbsup2 ).
2) Next trip: Well for now...ummm...December 8??:rotfl:

I'll also add a suggestion for tomorrow's question, if you don't mind: "What question would you have asked the interviewers if you could do it over (or if you had been interviewed)?" (I may not be first here to post it, so anyone can feel free to re-post if they like the question tomorrow morning)

By the way, good luck to everyone who has an interview today!!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Good morning!

1. My last Disney trip was this past January to WDW staying at PO-FQ. We took my dad with us and he hadn't been to the World since 1997, so it was a really special trip.

2. My next Disney trip is in about 2 weeks! :cool1:  :yay: We are going to Disneyland staying at Disney's Paradise Pier, can't wait!

Good luck to those doing interviews today!!!!!

Morning all! Good luck to everyone who interviews today!!!

1) Our last trip was Sept 23-Oct 2 of this year.

2) Our next trip isn't really 'planned' yet, but should be in January 2008. My husband wants to go while his team plays in a bowl game, which he thinks will be somewhere within driving distance of Orlando. So he'll drive to the game that day and I will take all 3 kids to the parks alone! :scared1: It will be the first time I've done that at Disney so I'm anxious to see how that goes. Thankfully none of my kids are bolters! :)

I'm also hoping and dreaming of that Dec 8th trip, but we shall see...I don't want to jinx myself!

Pets: black lab "Buddy", grey cat "Mr. Kitty"
Town: small town pop. 800, home of county seat and community college
Favorite Disney Park: MK I still remember the first time I saw Cinderella's castle, indeed what a magical moment

Thanks to everyone for helping to pass the time. Life goes on as usual, but I can hardly concentrate for the ANTICIPATION... :goodvibes

I like the questions....

1. I don't have any pets
2. I live in a suburb of a good sized city
3. My favorite park? I hate this question....
I truly love them all. I guess I have
to say Magic Kingdom, but just by a hair.

4. My last trip was May of 2007

5. My next trip will be a short 4 day trip in
May 2008 and then a 6 day trip October 2008

Our very first trip to Disney World was at the end of Jan/early Feb. We really enjoyed the weather. It was shorts and t-shirt weather some of the days and jeans and sweatshirts other days. I notice that you are from PA, so you will enjoy any weather more than the cold northern temps! There were a few nights that my kids were the only ones swimming because everyone else thought it was too cold! :):upsidedow

Just make sure to pack warm clothes and you will be fine!

Oh, and thanks for the warm wishes, time seems to be standing still!

We were there at the same time! Too bad we didn't "know" each other then! I could have helped you with the little ones. I have a teenager for each of them! :)

I know, when I read your post I thought "I wonder if we saw each other there and didn't know it!" But what with the 50,000 people there... I'm so silly, I always expect to run into people like it's a small-town Wal-Mart! :rotfl:
