CHOIRFARM, I swear to you that I had no idea that was a typo. I saw the phrase "Wee break" and I thought that thread must be good and I need to find it. I thought it would be a continuation of the thread where the kid used a plastic bottle instead of going to the restroom. Sorry if I offended you! I was really just trying to find a good thread to read.

I think the Moderators here are very good, they tend to stay in the background and don't actually become the problem like moderators on other boards. For example, the moderators on MousePlanet are full, participating contributors to most threads, and are often the cause of some of its controversies. Like the fox guarding the henhouse. I also think the members of this forum are, in general, very respectful. I've seen much, much worse (i.e. MousePlanet, Baby Bargains).

It's a shame your thread was moved from the welcome page (I think that's where it was this morning??) You were getting much more civilized and less "cliquey" responses then.

Honestly- if I get beat up in a thread I am a big girl. I can defend myself. Some people think it is a personal attack if someone disagrees with them! Don't try so hard to make people happy. Be yourself. Some people will like you some won't. The internet is no different than everyday life. Surely you don't like every person you meet do you? As for your children being severely punished, well....

Christine, I don't think anyone is mad at you . I didn't even know that the WEE typo meant "see" until you mentioned it. People were just taking the wee/pee thing and running with it because it sounded funny. They meant no harm.

You simply can't make everyone happy, especially a diverse group such as the DIS. You need to let things roll off like water off a duck's back to be happy here. Or, for that fact, any internet bulletin board. Good luck with whatever decision you make.

More civilized and less cliquey??? I have a close group of friends. Only one has posted on here, and she isn't the one I'm making most of the jokes with. It isn't about cliques, it's about having noticed how others post and having a little fun. Fun is less civilized? Fine with me, I'll be a neanderthal if I can laugh about it, because otherwise what is the point of trying to live life?

Sorry, but in my opinion, it's sometimes irritating to read threads where a few people go off on a tangent, obviously communicating only with each other, and I have to sift through 2 pages of junk just to get back on the topic. It irritates me further when the "fun" tangents are at the obvious expense of another poster. Have your fun, but I think this may be part of the "rudeness" the OP was talking about.

I am sorry this is making you so sad. HOnestly I think if it bothers you that much you really should take a step back. I think that on many internet message boards things can come across harsher than they are intended. No tone of voice, facial expresssion etc.

Yeah, I was just going to say that. How are you trying to spread happiness when you say you're leaving the boards, say that our moderators aren't doing a good job and then add that other people have left, too?

I mean, it sounds like venting to me - not trying to spread happiness. I think your follow up post was back-pedaling. Just sayin'.

robinb is right, a thick skin will serve you well on the DIS, as well as on any message board and in real life. Life isn't moderated. If I think someone irl is overly harsh, I either tell them where to go, figure they were having a bad day and cut them a break, or decide to limit my exposure to that person. My call, and it depends on with whom I am dealing. Nobody moderates real life for us.

Personally, I've seen an awful lot of moderating going on here in the last week or so.
