MNSSHP-Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know (from the 2009 party!)

Very cool pics....Can't wait...

I do have one question...I ordered my tickets and I have them on will call...
can I change my mind and have them mailed to my house and pay the extra cash???

Thanks

I'm not sure, but I wouldn't. I had them delivered for P&PP last year, but did will call for MVMCP. You could pick them up at any ticket booth, and it was one less thing for me to worry about/keep up with during the trip.

We're going on Oct. 27th and this will be our 3rd party! But I'm still looking for advice :) DD will be Snow White - so we definately have to get pictures with her.

I don't know if anyone else has posted this yet, but we just found a great deal at the Disney store in Hershey, PA. They had a bunch of tote bags on sale for $2.50 a piece, including super cute halloween ones! They are nice a big so can fit TONS of candy! :mickeyjum

My hints:

If it calls for rain, take a poncho. It poured last year for our first party. It was only DD(11) and I. Despite the pouring rain (buckets!!) we had a blast. I had paid for the tickets, so we just waited for the rain to let up some, then headed out.

Face makeup doesn't run too much in rain, but does smear when you try to wipe the pouring rain off your face.

If you want MNSSHP T-shirts (last year's were about $20-$24 I think and were Glow In The Dark), be sure to buy them sooner than later during the night. We waited til closing and they were almost out of my size. The CM had to go in the back to get it and it was the last Adult Large. He did say if they were out, I could take my bracelet the next day and get one. (a hassle since we hadn't plan to be at MK)

DD and I wore home made Glow In The Dark Tshirts. We saw a mix of costumes & regular clothes on adults. We both got face painting. It didn't bother me at the time, I figure I would never do it at home, but there it was fun. I look at the pictures now and just laugh...DID I really do that?:lmao::scared1:

If candy is important to you, bring a bigger bag. The ones they give out are small. (about the size of a paper lunch bag I think)

My other suggestion, and only my opinion: say Thank You for the candy. I couldn't believe how many people just walked up, opened their bag and walked off. No "trick or treat" or even "hi". I personally thought it was rude. Yes, I paid for it, but still seemed kinda rude to not say Thank You. ( IMHO)

Take your Glow Sticks with you. Cheaper than buying them there. One of the neatest things is seeing them glow on the buses afterwards. Michael's craft store has glow in the dark flip flops on clearance. You insert the glow stick into the top straps that go over your feet. Too bad DD and I can't wear cheap flip flops. They would be cool!

I will definitely check out Michael's! DD can wear them, and she would get a kick out of them!

:lmao::lmao::lmao: A kick! ;)

Did I read on this thread that face painting is free during MNSSHP? DNiece loves to get it done, but she's never asked for it at WDW. I'd definitely suggest it if it was part of the party.

I Thought I'd start this for the benefit of the newbies this year...List your best tip, trick, or secret you think people would like to know about MNSSHP.

I'll start...

This was the best tip I got from last years postings...You can get into the park at 4pm with your MNSSHP ticket.
This is a great way to avoid the 7pm rush of people coming out of the park! :woohoo:

Next...
What a thoughtful Thread...how sweet of you to think of us newbies...we appreciate it! Here's to you for sharing the Disney love!

If his lessons start at 6:45...what is the earliest you think you'd be able to make it to the party?
6:45 am we will be able to make it to the party by 4:00 but Im just worried my kids will be whipped. We have ressiers at 3:00 at Whispering Canyon for lunch.

Sorry if this has already been asked, I only read through the first few pages.

What kind of candy do they give out? Is it good stuff, chocolate, mini candy bars etc. or the cheap stuff I won't let my kids eat anyway...tootsie rolls, bit o honey, jawbreakers?

I don't mean to sound lke a candy snob but DS has several caps on his teeth and can't eat that type of candy, I just won't spend much time getting candy if that is the case

TIA

I'm taking the kids to the park next week. We'll have to check it out.

Just noticed that it looks like we will be there at the same time. We're celebrating my sis's bday on 10/13 with the party that night.

Do you need to do the Whispering Canyon lunch? Are you staying at WL? If you can get some rest and relaxation time, maybe even a short nap, I think everyone should be fine. If you're staying at WL then Whispering Canyon could fit in just fine, and you're only a short boat ride away from the MK. If you're staying elsewhere then getting to that ADR is going to interrupt your break time. If you have enough MK scheduled during the rest of your stay then you really don't need to be at the MK by 4:00. The party, and all of its special stuff, doesn't start until 7:00 anyway. Many of us like to go at 4:00 or shortly after to get in more MK time -- attractions. If you don't have attractions you need to fit in then you could go later, like 6:00 ish.

Thanks so much for all the tips about the MNSSHP. I made my mom read through the thread and it finally convinced her that this is not just a little kid party.

Add in another DISer for the night of 9/15. I can not wait.

Does anyone know what time the storyteller come out at the bell to tell the story of the headless horseman?

Mickey and Minnie in their Halloween Costumes were at the beginning of Main Street, in a Gazebo, between Exposition Hall and the Train Station.

I thought Mickey and Minnie in their Halloween garb are only in Mickey's house in Toontown.
I wanted to head there at 6:30 to get in line.
Does anyone know where they will be this year?
