MNSSHP, the dates, the discussion.

Disney has not actually released the September calendar to the public. The one everyone is referencing is the one they release to travel agents (but doing that is just as bad because TAs would then book customers for those 7pm close dates assuming they'll be able to attend the party).

We will be at WDW Sept 11-15...of course, we just miss the first night of the MNSSHP. Bummer! Does anyone know if the park will be decorated with Halloween decorations or do they wait until the MNSSHP begins? I would at least love to see the park decorated... :worried:
We've never been there in September (due to having to get back to school), but this year we are booked until September 2nd (due to late start after Labor Day). Having said that, we've always been there until late August (28, 29th) and have seen them 'start' putting up decorations in the MK as well as selling Hallowe'en goodies. We've purchased things such as Hallowe'en Candy Corn and t-shirts in the last week of August. You should get the chance to see some Hallowe'en at MK:-)

I think the best we can do (all the people that scheduled, booked and planned for an early september MNSSHP) is contact Disney and let them know. My guess is that they planned for parties on those dates, but later they decided against them. So, as they still have those free slots available on the calendar, if enough people ask for them, MAYBE we can get lucky. :D

Actually I already leave a comment in the Disney Parks Blog announcement post (we all know they read those comments) and I sent an email with my request. Nothing to lose! Maybe some pixie dust 6 months before our trip?

I wrote to Disney also. Response is below:

Dear Adam,

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World® Resort.

I apologize, nothing official has been reported at this time as to why Magic Kingdom Park plans to close at 7 PM on those nights.

In order to assure the most timely and up-to-date Theme Park schedule information, while on www.disneyworld.com select PARKS from the Home Page, then, PARK HOURS. Enter the date you will be visiting. You will be able to see all Theme Park hours, as well as, Extra Magic Hours.

pirate:pirate:hmm surprised they are having a party on Nov 1 they didn't last year I don't think. I am planning on Halloween this year staying for 10 days and doing the first MVMCP as well WOOHOO:santa::santa:

Its now posted on wdw.com under events and tours the dates are now listed

Count me in as one who was hoping I could attend the first week of September. I was so excited as this would be our only chance. I saw someone mention elsewhere that perhaps they close early those 3 nights because they need to decorate. Is that possible? I know they decorate through the middle of the night for the most part. It also seems hard to believe that there are 3 private parties that close together.

Today is my 180 ADR day, and I had to call in. I cannot book dinners in MK on those days after 6. The rep on the phone said that is because they are possible Halloween party days, and if they don't end up happening they will open up the times. I will have to keep checking every day to see if they open up.

No.

I'd lay money on the times on those dates changing. It was likely an oops and the result of a last minute change of plans.

So you think they will extend to regular MK closing hours (10pm) on Sept. 1? I still plan on going to MK that day anyway.

I am also upset about the Sept. 1 not being on the list of Halloween parties. I was excited about being able to go during our trip and now it's not available.

It's pure conjecture on my part. But it won't close at 7 unless there's a party or private event. I can't imagine them having private events all of those nights so I find that unlikely. If there's really no party, they'll have to adjust those hours.

So can anyone confirm if there is any downside to going to the Nov 1st party over the Oct 31st? I know the Oct 31st will sell out quickest. I plan on buying the tickets as soon as they are out.
We could go either of these dates.

No downside. All parties are identical. Halloween night is the most expensive, too.

Cool I guess we will do the 1st then, just wasn't sure if it was more expensive because it is Halloween and the do something extra.
