Hey all. My son and bf's first disney trip is coming up in 2 weeks!!!! (I was a cm and used to know all the tricks...back in 03:)). I wanted to experience something new with them and I have never done rd! I had it planned for our first day of our vacation at mk and figured my 3 yr old would love to see Mickey on a train...however, I am about to nix this magical plan because of A&E. I was just reading about stampedes to go see them after rd and don't know if I want that to be my sons first impression. We are a laid back family and are going to do things at our own pace...does anyone have any tips of how not to get trampled? Obviously well prob see the crowd before the gates open and we will stand away from them but is it still a great thing to see? Or is it like Black Friday at the local Walmart and someone who is just picking up batteries should probably have stayed home?:). Thanks in advance!!

We love to watch the opening show! And we never participate in any running to an attraction. Just position yourself in the center; watch the show. Afterwards, just take your time in getting your stuff together and mosey on your way. The people who are going to dash are pressed against the two archways. People in the middle are watching, and won't be rushing right past you to get into the park. Some may, but for the most part, I haven't felt that there were a lot of people rushing down Main Street once we got in the park. But, I guess with the A&E issues, things might be somewhat different.

Regardless, I think that there is enough room heading down Main street that it should be traumatic.

Don't bail on your plan! I think you will be fine, especially if you are heading a different direction! You want to stay more in the center to see the show, where as some of the rushing people will go to the sides. There are cms roping off so people can't totally bowl you over.

I suggest going through the stores. You can travel just as fast, and miss the huge stampede of people rushing to A&E. And if you guys are pin traders, you can stop without causing much of a commotion.
