MK Planning

My mom, 7 year old dd, and I are visiting WDW for the first time in June. We will have three days in MK and I would love some help knowing how to split up the park on those days.

Day 1 - We have an 8am BOG breakfast ADR.

Day 2 - We plan to arrive a little later this day (maybe 11am or so?). We have a 2:25 BBB reservation and a 4:10 ADR to CRT. Will likely stay in the park until it closes that night.

Day 3 - Our final WDW day. Want to do RD and stay till the park closes.

Given the above, how would you handle planning each day? Should I split the park up by "lands"? My concern is that I know dd will love Fantasyland. I keep thinking I should split some of those rides over the three days. What FP+ to plan? I know Anna & Elsa on Day 3. What else? Would love to hear your tips!

Oh, I have been using Touring Plans, which is awesome, but I'm having trouble determine which rides for which days.

I just returned from my 'first' trip in late Jan. I say 'first' b/c I went when I was 5 and don't remember much. I also went in college for a one day visit and despite being sober the whole time, have very few memories of it! So we took the kids (7 and 4.5) recently.

The thing that surprised me the MOST about MK is how NOT huge it is. I looked at the maps and assumed it would take us forever to walk from land to land and it really doesn't. That said, we only had one day, so we really didn't take our time in each land - we missed a lot of the shops and little things like that which I definitely plan to do the next trip. But since New Fantasyland (NFL) is basically in the middle-back, I think you could attack each day from NFL and move either right or left. Or do the opposite and start right or left and make your way up to NFL. We sort of had a plan that was start in NFL and stay there through our lunch at BOG, then head 'left' to Liberty Square, Frontier/Adventure then to Main St for shopping. We were going to then head to Tomorrow, but actually decided to head back to the hotel for dinner/swim and relax. Yes, we did that even with only a single day in MK! When we came back (right as MSEP was starting), my kids didn't care to see it so we hit Adventurland and it was a ghost town (which was awesome to be there almost alone!), then passed to Tomorrowland after the parade to do some stuff there, then watched fireworks from there. All of that is just to show you that we did a ton of stuff all over and weren't dead (though definitely tired! ). So don't fret too much about exactly where to be when.

Also, I have to ask why you aren't making a visit to Epcot on one of you three days? It had tons of stuff my kids enjoyed and they want to do it for 2 days next time we go.

Oh, and for FP+, 7DMT is a must. PP if you don't plan to do it at RD b/c the line gets crazy long after. If she loves Belle, I'd do one for Enchanted Tales with Belle. And all the Mountains - unless you plan to do those at RD on one of your days.

Thanks so much!!! We are actually spending 6 days in the parks, so Epcot, DHS, and AK will each get their own day as well. I'm just stressing more about MK.

We usually do two MK days and split them up by land. The first day is usually Adventureland, Frontierland and Fantasyland. Then second day is Tomorrowland and Fantasyland. The third day I would probably just go back and revisit our favorites. Splitting up the days by lands minimizes walking which is very helpful when you're already doing so much walking. It helps us really focus on and explore these lands too (we end up discovering new things and riding different rides when we dedicate such a long period of time to each land).

We have 3 MK days on our upcoming trip. We will likely do mid morning to closing each of those days (and one of those days has evening EMH until 2am, which we will stay for). We have FP+ for each of those days that we have planned.
Our general approach to MK is to start with Adventureland and work out way around to Tomorrowland the first day (and I sent up our FP+ to cooincide with that). The second day, we start at Tomorrowland and loop around the opposite way. Since that second day is the evening EMH, we will hit the Eticket rides hard during the parade and fireworks and later. On the third day, we will let our son dictate what we do and when.

With DD7, we spend the bulk of our time in Fantasyland (and NFL), even on a multi-day trip. Enchanted Tales with Belle is an everyday MUST for her, and so is Little Mermaid. She adores the castle show Dream Along with Mickey, too. We venture into the other lands, of course, because every princess needs to ride Big Thunder Mountain multiple times. With three days at MK, you will have time to explore and find your own favorites, too.

I agree with the others about splitting up your MK days by lands. I will say the day that you stay until closure to be in tomorrowland. We love the dance party. It is usually from 5pm until 10pm. You get to dance with the characters - it is so much fun. Plus we love doing the People Movers at night and Buzz Lightyear - usually doesn't have big lines at night. We usually do Fantasyland two days and do Frontierland and Adventureland together. Enjoy your first visit!

With three days and judicious use of FPP+, you should be able to see everything in the MK. I suggest that you focus on a land for the two RD days. You may want to do some of the Fantasyland rides that are no FP+ on that first day after you finish the BOG breakfast. Peter Pan and Pooh, which usually have longer lines in the afternoon will have fairly short waits first thing. That might be a goog time for Ariel or maybe head to Big Thunder if you want to ride that. The next day you could start in Tomorrowland with Buzz and Monster's Inc or the Transit Authority.

A lot of the attractions have shorter lines towards park closing. That's a good time to catch or recatch attractions.
