What's with the new Michael Jackson attraction at EPCOT??? Am I the only one that doesn't think this 'belongs' at WDW??? :confused3

Yeah if it's Captain EO that you're talking about it's not really "new", it's a revival like the other poster said...

I haven't seen it yet....just heard about it from a friend who just returned. How long has it been there?

I just don't think that if it were some 'tribute' thing to a child molester that it would belong....but I clearly misunderstood the premise of the attraction.

When was he convicted of being a child molester?
I certainly think, although a bit dated, "Captain EO" fits fine at WDW.

This is the same movie that played at Epcot like 25-30 years ago. When Michael Jackson died Disney World and Disneyland decided to revive it as a Michael Jackson tribute.I was fine with that as it's basically replacing Honey I Shrunk the audience which was super old and needed to go.Captain EO is only supposed to be there for a limited time and hopefully that time is coming soon because while it was cool to see a former attraction brought back for a while,it is just plain and simple pretty bad, cheesy and the 3-D is beyond bad.The problem in my opinion is that both EO and Honey I shrunk the audience need to go,so unless Disney announces a new replacement I really don't care if EO or Honey are there because I don't feel the need to see either one.Again I'm glad it was brought back and I've seen it twice in that time but please Disney bring us something new in this theater.

I for one am glad that Captain EO is back. I realize the effects are bad, but I remember being so excited about the attraction as a kid.

I'm a huge MJ fan and was sad to see it go and be replaced by HISTA - but that was also getting old, so I was glad to see that go too.

A change to something new would be a great addition. But I would never say that Cptn EO doesn't belong at Epcot, its definitely right at home.

Unless I'm mistaken, most kids won't know anything about the charges (which he was not convicted of) and most adults will realize he was ever convicted of a crime. If you don't wish to see it and you don't feel it is appropriate for your kids, skip the attraction. We skipped it because I just didn't have time.

I agree. I happen to love EO. Thankfully Disney doesn't care about the controversy surrounding MJ. After all, we are innocent until proven guilty.

I would, however, like to see something new take EO's place, seeing as it is a bit outdated. Perhaps "Son of EO"? :hyper:

I do enjoy EO much more than "Honey Let's Torture the Audience" :rotfl2:

The Captain EO movie was made before all of the MJ controversy, using new technology at the time (so it fit into the Epcot theme well). For me, it was nostalgic to watch again last winter. I remember watching it as a kid and being so scared of the witch's "3D" finger nails. Disney seams to be trying to bring back many things that are nostalgic. Because Disney isn't just about the kids, it's also about adults who want to feel like kids again or share their childhood experiences with thier kids. Regardless of how you feel about MJ, the show is still better than what they had there before. "Honey I shrunk the audience" was cheesy, outdated and boring.

They might as well have a Casey Anthony dancing remembrance movie as well. I kid, I kid. Ya gotta love Florida.

Captain EO was nice as a remembrance, but MJ's been gone over a year now.. it's time for something new. Epcot's future world should be about the future, not some crappy outdated 90's video.

It's either that or the other crappy outdated video, HISTA.

And if they can't scrape together the $ to give us a Soarin experience that's free of dust bunnies crawling across the screen, they're not doing a new 3D movie to replace either of those dinosaurs.

And it's sad because I just heard on the radio this morning, Disney already reached 1 Billion dollars this year, and there's still five months left.

Keep in mind that when CEO was released it was VERY new and VERY neat technology. I agree it looks pretty awful now, but brings back good memories.......

Like others said, it isn't new. It's old. Very old.

Captain EO sucks. I wish to God they'd get rid of it.

I liked HISTA. It wasn't something I had to do every trip, but I'd see it once a year or so. I wouldn't have cried if Disney had replaced it with something good, but getting rid of it for EO is beyond sad.

Oh, Disney, put HISTA back in until you have something better. Please.

Exactly. Caption EO makes me cringe.

it is the same that was there in the 90's and it is a very good show. my Mother was 86 and loved it the first time it was there. as much as Michael Jackson went to DL and WDW why wouldn't they pay tribute to him? he was a great entertainer.
