Whoot, come on down! Bring choclate! I got enought fabric to outfit several hundred of us according to DH! He really isn't that far off!
I have even figured out how I could make a walking Twninkie costume, but will need a little more stuff to pull it off..... and a foam bed mattress pad.... spray paint.... and TM to wear it!! or should we put UM in it? Just let me know!

Not me unless it's a pear shaped Twinkie!!!!

TO-GA, TO-GA, TO-GA!!!!! Just the Girls!!! "TO-GA"!, Just the Boys! ....

Hey!!!!! Where'd everybody GO??????

Umama,

I too have been wonderin' where all the DIS peeps are?

Princess Libby,

I'm sorry you are having a bad day! Ok everone, put on your toga and give Libby a great big :grouphug:

Since TM has left us gypsies in the palace, and while we are on the subject of fabric, I thought I'd share a story......

Back in early 1999, after learning about my fate with twins, I had to find something to entertain myself for 7 weeks of modified bedrest. Of all things, I took up quilting. Don't laugh! I cannot operate a sewing machine, so everything was to be done by hand. Also keep in mind that I have adult ADD. Here we are in 2006, I managed to complete 4 small quilts. I have about 10 quilt tops finished, 1 king size quilt about 3/4 finished, and I don't know how many started, plus fabric cut for at least 6 more. The point I'm trying to make....if there is one, is that Idofabric would love to see my collection of fabric for quilts that I plan to finish sometime close to never! I don't know if any of you have heard of Patsy Aiken or Chez Ami. Anyhow, her warehouse is in Raleigh, and they have a sale every so often. Several years ago, I felt compelled to buy several large bolts of fabric and jumbo spools of thread. I have not idea why? I also have several bolts of fabric I purchased on clearance from some design warehouse. What is up with this sickness?

Now that Twinkie is totally going to ban me from her thread.....let's get back to the toga party...I'll be the one in the quilted toga!

You people are too funny. That is why I love the trip reports boards- the DISpeeps comments on the trip report are usually (and in this case... always) funnier that the actual report.

My lame excuse: school. I have returned to my life of crime. Or making other people pay. If those people are freshmen biology students. In Kansas. So far I have a really great crop of young scientists. And Tuesday night for the first time ever there was NO muffin top in TwinkieMama's biology lab. :woohoo:

Also yesterday was my twins first day of preschool. They were  and I was :guilty: and a little :sad1:. They loved it! Of course they, like everyone else in the state of Kansas are Above Average.

And while I have the next installment written in my head, it isn't actually what you would call ready to post. And I must leave shortly to go back to school- acids and bases and solutions for the pre-med crowd. Yes folks, the great state of Kansas has entrusted the future of medicine to me. BUHAHAHAHAHA. You should see their happy shiny faces when I reveal that I actually have never taken freshman biology!!!!!! Enough fun. Back to the thread.

And now, in no particular order:
Princess Libby: :grouphug: was that too forward? maybe I should have sent flowers first :flower:

sorul82?: I love the bonkers stuff one does while pregnant. Especially with twins. And modified bedrest. I have my own stories of those days. And one involves a smocking fabric store in downtown Cary.

UtahMama: You are the bestest. I will have this trippie done before you get back (and maybe before you go- I mean I am on the last day right?) Also the pun about me being the thread hostess was :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

idofabric:  Thanks for hosting the toga party.

sharkb8hoohaha: I  your name. Welcome to the DIS. When I lived in SC once the schools closed down due to "clement weather" yep, you read it right, no snow, ice or hurricanes = too many days in school. Your post was the nicest thing I have heard all day. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

1000thhappyhaunt: Did I spell that right? looks like to many hs. Thanks for the kind words and the cheers. :grouphug: for you, you know why! Or would your rather have a :moped: or two? :moped: :moped:

So when we left we were jockeying for a prime Illumination site. And I was holding the expensive breakable Disney souvenirs. Why? :confused3 Well, it all goes back to the psychology of the old fashioned Southern male. My DH would never let me carry a suitcase to the car. He always makes sure my car is full of gas so I don’t have to subject myself to the treacherous elements of heat, wind, rain or cold. He even will fill up gas tanks for my girlfriends in the dead of winter. Our yard is always immaculate. Mowed, trimmed, pruned, mulched, pine strawed, planted, raked. You name it he does it. He always takes out the trash with out being asked. However that is where the invisible line into Women’s Work is place. He doesn’t put a new trash bag in. For some reason. That I have never figured out. :confused3 :confused3
He will also clear the table, rinse the dishes and load the dishwasher but if anything needs to be hand washed he will rinse it until it is practically clean but will not get out the bubbles and actually wash it. Which would take the same amount of time. And effort. Another thing that seems to be in the category of Women’s Work is carrying the leftovers out of the restaurant. Which he will not do. Even though I am kind of clumsy and wearing heels and carrying a huge/heavy purse (must have a 2 year calendar, mints, eyedrops, Kleenex, wet wipes, pens, goldfish crackers, gum, fruit snacks, lipstick I don’t even wear, chap stick etc etc… everything except for photos of our darling children…. Don’t need those. Have darling children with me)… and often a small child or two. I am the one who carries the Pasta Diablo or Sizzlin’ Fajitas home. And so it seemed here in Epcot in June of 2000 that all souvenir carrying should be done by the woman.
And the only one with enough X chromosomes was me. The short clumsy one. Note that. So Illuminations begins. DH has DS on his shoulders. I can’t really see anything except the fireworks and some guys backside. After a couple of minutes DH suggests heading out.
I know there is a collective gasp out there in DISspace. Leaving early on a three day trip when you only went to the parks for 2 days!!!!! Missing Illuminations?!?!!! :confused3
Well, I couldn’t see much anyway. So I acquiesced.
And we headed towards the International Gateway entrance. :tiptoe:

 amuck amuck amuck

I have always wanted to run amuck! :lmao: :lmao: AND at a toga party no less! :rotfl:

TM have fun teaching those eager minds about the wonderful world of biology. I actually loved biology in school. I got over 100% because I did all the extra credit! I was a nurse for almost 10 years and now I am in IT. Now that's a jump, but I miss the biology though.

Waiting patiently for more of the trippie now that I have run amuck! :Pinkbounc

I just found your TR, and it is great. This has got to be the longest thread ever for a 3 day trip!
:rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Too True! :rotfl2: Too bad for me I am not being paid per word. Or at all.
and a big fat hello to everyone I have missed
Hi Miss Polly
Hi Mistie
Hi DonaldTDuck
Hi Novdisneydreams

Hi! Hi! Hi!

Thank you TM! We missed you at the Toga Party...
sorul82?-I also am afflicked with the quilting bug... now if we can just pervert, I mean, CONvert TM...that way she can visit all the Quilt Shops in Orlando. AND then include that into her trip reports! Brilliant! Of course, they will be even LONGER, cause there is no way anyone can discribe bolts and bolts of fabric in short consice words.... Also where exc. do you get the bolts of fabric? I can get up to NC in 3.2 hours, and need to head over to MaryJos in Gastonia... but would love to go to outlets and factories... any way to save $$$.

So come on TM, do you Quilt? and if not could you pretend and visit the shops in Orlando and report?

.

So TM....I'm wondering...which part of this great state do you teach biology in? My DD is a biotechnology grad and is the lab tech/buyer for the science department of a college here in the land of OZ? We are near Kansas City. I sure am enjoying your TR and it is making my anticipation for our trip so much more exciting.

TM - taking out the garbage and not putting in a new bag must be a male thing! Along with not putting new TP on the roll! Have you started a TR for your latest trip yet? I haven't really looked, lately I just have enough time to catch up on a few threads!

And we headed towards the International Gateway entrance. :tiptoe:

Now some of you are thinking… What in the world???? :confused3 They are at the All Stars (Sports to be exact but that resort just defies abbreviations) so the best way is to head to the front entrance and get on the bus! Just what are they doing going out the back way towards the Epcot area resorts?????

Others are just going along with the flow certain that it will end up ok for the Twinkie clan. :thumbsup2 And others know what we are doing. And preparing to flame me for it. :stir:

Peace. :) Let me explain.

Yes, your honor… we did, as All Star resort guests drive our value car (hand me down of my Dad’s- wedding gift- Thanks Dad!) over to the De-Luxe Resort also known as the Boardwalk. Park our car in one of their parking spaces (worth roughly 3x what we po’ folks paid) and then entered the park through the International Gateway, hot footed it through the park not even stopping to ride Test Track (5 min wait) and took the monorail over to the MK. Early in the morning.

To be fair to us. I didn’t come up with this idea on my own. I heard it here on the DIS. On the Theme Park Strategies Board. Everyone was doing it. (No, mom if everyone jumped off a cliff or curled their hair into big poofy bangs in the late eighties I wouldn’t do it too) This trick had the appeal of not repeating the wall to wall full body contact sport known as The Bus Ride Home After Illuminations. It did seem kind of sneaky so I asked The Powers That Be.

Both CMs I talked to told us that as long as we had a valid resort parking tag we were free to park in any non-handicapped resort spot at any resort. Even all day. That is what we were told and that is what we did. (Remember this is June of 2000) I understand that now this frowned upon at WDW resort and admitting to this piratical behavior will unleash a flame storm that while not a land war in Asia is somewhere along the lines of can I squeeze 5 people into a DVC one bedroom? Or Can I mug hop? Or do short 4 year olds really need admission media?

So I confess the truth for the sake of accuracy of my trip report. We parked at the Boardwalk so our spot near the Rose and Crown was very close to our own private, air conditioned ride back to the hotel. And we would be guaranteed a place to sit. So we headed that way.

And stopped halfway over the bridge because we could see the finale fireworks above the smoke. And we hugged one another and all became a little bit misty eyed because fireworks always make me think about the “rockets' red glare” part of the national anthem and how scary it must be to be in the midst of “bombs bursting in air” and how thankful I am that I get to live in a place and a time where the closest I have ever been to this experience is watching fireworks to celebrate our country or our world or the magic that is happily ever after.

:furious: :furious: WHAT's WRONG WITH BIG POOFY BANGS????!??? :furious: :furious:

Uh, I thought big poofy bangs were still in style? :guilty:

Another great installment TM!

By the time poofy bangs and spiral perms come back into style, I will be way too old to pull it off.

Where's my dippity doo?

TwinkieMama -

Found this report 3 days ago (thank you UtahMama) and have been thoroughly excited because

1 - It is just to crazy funny :rotfl2: and

2 - When I started it, I thought "this is too crazy funny and since it is a 3-day trip with 50 pages of posts I will be able to read about the entire trip!"

Ok, not so much. But it's been a fun 52-page ride. Can't wait to hear out it ends.

Oh, and I heard that '80s hair is going to be back in style. So stock up on the AquaNet folks.

Also yesterday was my twins first day of preschool. They were and I was and a little . They loved it! Of course they, like everyone else in the state of Kansas are Above Average.

You learn SO much reading the Dis! Biology, huh? KANSAS, huh?
I'm gettin the picture.

You rock, TM!
Jami

After having a picture postcard perfect moment we continued to approach the Boardwalk. That is when TwinkieDaddy noticed that I was not taking enough care of our valuable property. I was holding the shopping bag wrong.

How? :confused3 I don’t know. I am a big picture person. T-Daddy is a detail person. I drive him crazy with my flagrant disregard for important details. Like where my keys are. So he takes the packages from me and I get to hold DS’s hand as we enter the boardwalk. :)

Which is really something special at night- it makes you want to stroll, eat an ice cream, and maybe even rent a bicycle built for a whole family. :moped: Then you could ring the bell to announce how happy you with the world. Or how crazy you are to spend an extra dollar per minute of Valuable Disney time. We resisted temptation in the form of fake tattoos, glitter face paint, hair wraps and surrey bikes.

As we approached the lobby to cut through to the parking lot and our Value Resort getaway car, the illusion of being at an old timey resort from more gracious days was so real that I couldn’t believe I was about to enter without my hat. Or gloves. princess:

The inside was breathtaking. I told TwinkieDaddy that someday we were going to stay here. In high style. Someday. But not this day so we loaded up the car and headed back to the All Stars.

Which after the Boardwalk looked a lot like a Motel 8. At first.

But as we trudged to our room we passed the pool and heard all the families having fun in the pool. With little kids. After bedtime.

Maybe we and Crabopolis and our wild Twinkie rules Monkey in the Middle wouldn’t be welcome in the Deluxe Resorts….. We realized how blessed we were to be able to take a Disney vacation together. With no job stress. No child custody stress. No bickering between ourselves. The All Stars looked pretty great to us. On property and at the price of a hotel in most big cities!

DS asked if we could go swimming. Right then in the middle of the night.

Of course dear son! We replied. His enthusiasm was infectious. With renewed energy we headed to our room and quickly changed into swimsuits and headed to the pool.
