What's your favorite kind of misting fan for the parks? We'll be travelling with 5 kids, but am thinking about just getting a couple to share between us. Does that sound right?

If you could share links to your favorite kind of misting fan, would really appreciate it. Want to make sure the one(s) we purchase have been tried and true at the parks and are kid-proof. :-)

We brought 3 of those mentioned above (they came as a 3 pack if I remember correctly). While we didn't end up using them at all at Disney World, we have used them for other functions and they have been great. The best thing is the blades are foam like (not sure what the actual material is) so if they get bent you just bend them back and if someone sticks their fingers in it is not a big deal.

Another vote for O2 Cool from Walmart. We have 3 that i've used the last 3 years and they still work great.

i know you didn't ask if you should get misting fans or not but i wanted to chime in with my opinion on the subject in general.
giving misting fans to children can sometimes lead to annoyed guests because the fans don't contain the mist to just you. the water is dispersed throughout the air and lands on others. (i don't mind getting a mist here or there but sometimes i've found excessive sprayers to be irritating.)
instead i would opt to just buy those littler handheld personal fans minus the water part.
they do help in my experience. and then when i want to get a bit "refreshed" i go in a bathroom and dampen my face/hair/arms.

also if you're going to buy fans misting or non misting be sure you get one for each child or there could be complaints/fights about who has the fans when.

Just a warning about fans like this, 2 weeks ago I cut one out of the young girl in front of me in lines hair. Her hair got tangled around the center piece.

These are our favorite because they are small enough to hang on our bags without adding a ton of weight. They work really well & we don't have to worry about carrying around & storing a big bottle.

We used these and they were a big hit with the kids and smaller and easier to deal with than full sized ones. Our kids drop tested them from about 3 feet at least 50 times and none of them stopped working.

I am so glad you posted this. I had completely forgotten about getting our misting fans. We leave in one week. A question about the ones on the walmart.com site: Is it $4.27 for one or do they come packaged in four as the illustration suggests?

We get the ones from Walmart and share one. No need to have one for each person. If you have 5 kids though you may want to take 3 to pass around.

These are exactly the fans I love! Much easier to carry than a big, clunky mister fan. And they're less than $5 each, so everyone can have their own - much better than trying to share a couple of bigger fans among several people.

Just make sure to bring extra AA batteries from home - much cheaper than buying batteries at WDW.

Absolutely the best solution for us. And you can buy them at Walmart, so they are a cheaper alternative than the ones at the parks. They sell that type at WM too, but for us, they are too large and clunky to deal with.

It's just one per package. The ad shows all the current colors.

In the past we purchased misting fans and while we enjoyed them to a point, I found that regular personal mini fans without the water was best for us. The reason being (aside from hauling around the water weight), being in Florida we tended to be wet and sticky from the humidity already so simply having the fan to blow over our already wet faces and necks was all we needed.

Mist lowers the temperature by consuming heat-energy through evaporation. I would think the humidity in Florida would limit the effectiveness of the mist.
