Can someone please tell me what a soft opening is. We will be in WDW when this is supposed to be happening. Can anyone ride or is it a selected few lucky(?) ones.

Soft opening means the attraction will not be operating on any regular schedule. Some days, or parts of days, it may be open. Other days, or parts of days, it won't. If you are there and it isn't open, ask a cast member if they know when it will be open. They probably either won't know or won't tell, but they should at least be able to give you an idea if it will be open anytime during your stay. Otherwise, just keep checking back periodically and hope you catch it when it is open.

We were at DL earlier this month when they had the soft opening for the new Pooh ride. The official opening was April 10th or 11th, and they had an AP holders only preview on the 8th and 9th. We were there from the 3rd through the 9th and from the 3rd through the 7th it was open to anyone and stayed open the entire time the park was open (as far as I know...it was open everytime we went by it). They did have a sign out front saying that it wasn't officially open yet and could close at any time. We rode it three times while we were there. One of the good things about soft openings is that not a lot of people know about them so there were no lines at ours. Good luck on the Mission Space soft opening
